  1. 2 great Crossover tunes for sale in excellent condition Sam Dees - Fragile Handle With Care/Save The Love At Any Cost - Brilliant Double Header on US Atlantic - £125 Viola Edwards - Love Me Baby - Renfro - Best Version - £150
  2. Highland Room by Colin Curtis as a new release in 1977. Liked it that much I paid a full £1.25 for it.
  3. "What About My Love" - Johnnie Taylor ..........'nuff said!!!!
  4. IMHO Vinyl Carvers are worse than boots/reissues/cds. Ooops forget, we would miss out on those "WONDERFUL" Funk Brothers Motown instrumentals DO I LOVE THEM - INDEED I DON'T.
  5. Frank Wilson? How many original copies? Certainly not enough for the amount of times the record has been played & danced to over the last 20 years. Never heard a promoter say over the mic. "Unfotunately Mr. Kenny Burrell is not appearing here tonight - please do not offend the DJs by asking for Frank Wilson as none of them have it." I totally agree that original is best in both credibility & sound quality . However I have a problem with people who totally dimiss CDs.I don't mean "Dale Wintons - Now That's What I Call Northern" compilations. I am talking about quality previously unreleased stuff from Motown - RCA etc. I think the whole idea of releasing them is so people can hear them properly & not off some dodgy acetate that some top jock is playing. The last Cellarful of Motown had two blinding (previously unreleased) tracks by JJ Barnes - they of course will never get played - that is a crying shame.
  6. Roy Keane was an RSOUL - or does that not count
  7. Michael Jackson is a centre back at Blackpool - & he's "BAD"
  8. 9. The Game Is Over - Brown Sugar (Capitol)
  9. Anybody know where to get this recently released EP? Price etc? Cheers
  10. Utter crap - even by Levines standards Where is The Soul Fox Orchestra when you need them?
  11. Once went looking for a house in Blackpool between number 43 & number 47. Didn't find it - then realised it must have been one of those elusive 45s!!!!! Coats already on - start the car
  12. What's up - my pound is as good as anybody elses - just need somebody else to give you the other 64.
  13. It was the "dog rare" issue in that quid box at Yarmouth . Think I'll ring Plumby.
  14. It's by Esko Affair on Mercury. Great slice of pop/soul produced by the legendary philly disco man Vince Montana. Steve Plumb had one in his "quid" box at Yarmouth earlier this year. One on Ebay at the moment for 15 quid.
  15. Question - Were the Funk Brothers funky or northern? Listen to Willie Mitchell - "The Champion" it's funky as hell, Or any popular Junior Walker tune - FUNKEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
  16. I both attend & DJ at Northern, Crossover & Soulful Dance nights & I love them all - it's the only way for me.
  17. Sounds like "Your Wish Is My Command" by The Inspirations.
  18. Some really interesting comments - think the bottom line is that like all the "possesions" you acquire throughout your life you must always remember that you are only borrowing them. So enjoy 'em .
  19. "Fool" - Al Matthews & of course the brilliant "Walk Away From Love" - David Ruffin
  20. Any collector who is feeling "off colour" this weekend send me all your vinyl at a vastly reduced price. Your next of kin will then avoid death duties & inheritance tax. This offer is open to all - free of charge. "Epic- The Philanthropist"
  21. He's on at Leeds Carling Weekender believe you can catch him on Sound Stage Seven!!!!!!!!
  22. He could end up............................."Lonely......................... truly lonely"
  23. What will happen in 30 years time? Will our offspring be able to cash them in? Or will they just become part of a house clearance?
  24. Personal opinion about collecting rare records is if you want it & can afford it - buy it. The only person you have to please with your purchase is yourself. Just 'coz somebody may purchase the same record at a lesser price it should not diminish your love of the said tune. Sam Dees - great record if not a tad played out. Oxford Nights - rare yes - same class as Sam Dees - not even close.
  25. It's the friendliness on this scene that makes it all worthwhile - Right On - BROTHERS Think I'm gonna start collecting records on the BACKBITE label.
