Yeah, it's his first birthday today so I said you can pick any record you like, I steered him towards Chapter Five but he picked up not Mel Britt (I wish!) but The Fife Piper, when we played it he did his little dance which consists of him shaking his head from side to side in approval. Then he burst into tears and filled his nappy.
Funnily enough - Bill Bush has the same effect on me.
Anyways HAPPY BIRTHDAY Master Smith
Pencil me in to DJ at his eighteenth birthday party @ Molineux - a night of Crossover & Soulful House - he''ll love it.
-
Pete is that your son on your Avatar?
Looks like he has a Mel Britt in his hands - hope you told him to look after it & nice to see you teaching him some values in his formative years.
ps Why does he have better taste than you?

How many original BLACK US artists have been deprived of their dues in history due to Gangster people like Simon Soussan.etc.ect.........the real boys got nothing......At least Frank POPP will get a Slice of the extra moneys if he can PROVE his case! BOOTLEGGERS FOREVER...................GOT A SALVARDORS BOOTLEG FOR SALE....................ANYONE INTRESTED?
PART OF OUR HISTORY!
How much money would The Salvadors get if you sold an original? Roughly about the same as if you sold the bootleg - ZERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Backing track is Fiddlin' Around - Don Renaldo - an old Mecca tune.
Not exactly the same arrangement - but oh so similar.
The last sentence was for the pedantic ones amongst us.
-
Has The Orwell moved? Actually saw Russ there a while back with Dean Parrish.
-
Think it is totally wrong when DJing to have a pop at the preceding jock to yourself. It is just courtesy to thank him for his spot over the mic. Whether you liked his tunes or not is a different matter & expressing a negative opinion on them is well out of order.
-
Is it me or did they become more soulful after Cliff Richard left them?
-
Lovin this, I want one.
Is it on Monumental album too
Certainly is "Alone On My Own" LP - far easier to get than the single.
-
Love Love Love - Bobby Hebb
Reminds me of when it all started for me & why I love this music - makes you feel good.
It was my late mum's favourite - I can hear her singing it now .
-
There's no need Rod, the money was refunded, it's not that that I am angry about, it's being accused of swapping the record over or messing about with it, people can think what they like about me and the banter on here but you won't meet a more honest person and this has really upset me.
Don't think your integrity is in question. - Only somebody who is really honest would admit to liking some of the tunes that you do.

Another Star - kathy sledge - white
12139 refosoul
Classic.
Superb - very underrated version - another big play for Pete Haigh - very popular with the bar staff in The Tower Lounge.
-
Love dont live - michael proctor - am/pm
12136 refosoul
Classic dance anthem - even heard it played at the more discerning northern venues.
-
Cheers...mp3 anyone?
Loads of copies on Gemm for next to nowt.
7-12 or LP
-
Actually known about this for some time. I heard Pete Haigh play an instrumental at Blackpool last year but didn't know what it was. Anyway I was listening to radio two this morning and Ken Bruce played Another Star and I'm sure the backing sounded like the instrumental that Pete Haigh played.
So anyone got an MP3...of all the versions
Version Pete plays is by Laso on MCA

That is the Wolverhampton coat of arms isn't it?
Yea Pete - Used to have Joleon Lescott as my avatar - what ever happened to him?
My family are from their originally - Whitmore Reans- visit the church that is Molineux on a regular basis.
BRING BACK "THE LIQUIDATOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Why don't we add a bit of interest to this thread and just post up 30 second intro's and see if we can spot the difference between them all?
Won't be able to join in when we get round to the "two-step" postings theme.
My computer shuts down after four minutes when nothing happens.
-
Good tune - reminds me of a Temptation recording with Ray singing in a David Ruffin style.
See Pete you've got there in the end - please try not to slip back into your old ways again.
Come to think of it we'd all be dissapointed if you didn't

Has the same relevance as the gay topic from yesterday - thought this site was supposed to be about Soul Music. Plenty of other sites on the internet about peoples sexuality - if that what floats your boat.
-
im fairly certain records and relics in blackpool have a copy of frankie gee £15
01253 624718
This price includes your commission of course
-
Can't believe this thread is being allowed. I admit I can banter with the rest of them & like the fun that can be had on Soul Source but I find this totally offensive.

Love Invented Misery - mel britt - fip
12007 refosoul
Flip to "Shell Come Running Back".... worth a listen?...Steve
Brilliant - always loved this - Try flipping over your Oscar Perry "Peritone" tunes - some quality hiding there also.
-
Aluminium? Aluminium Dear chap, precision milled solid brass centres - if you don't mind and anyway, my leopardskin record box with a mirror in the lid is FAR better for keeping lip gloss in - as well as all my top billy bollocks tunes Jo
Think you're mixing up your milling with your turning - never mind - it's a bloke thing.
Dave, your voice of reason prevails...NOW can we talk about monkeys arses, please Jo
-
On a Technics 1200 when playing a 7 inch single have you noticed the receptical for the aluminum centre fits a female DJs lip gloss or eyeshadow almost perfectly.

Personally Roger I've always found you fair minded, balanced in your opinions & always willing to listen to the other persons point of view.
Then again... I believe in the tooth fairy, Father Christmas & that one day Wolverhampton Wanderers will win the European Cup.
