  1. "Give Me All Of Your Love" - September Jones (Body & Soul)
  2. Agree with most on here about it being a long list. Top of mine :- "Lighten Up Baby" - Ty Karim (Romark version) It don't get any better than that!!!
  3. Ladies & Gentlemen - Weekend is looming large - 14 pages of bo**ox - oops I mean lively debate. What conclusions have we reached? Where are we all going Friday & Saturday? Is it OVO or CR&P ? Does It matter? Enjoy whatever you do - THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT ISN'T IT???????
  4. An early production outing for Vince Montana - didn't seem to do his career much harm - I like it as well if I'm being honest - heard worse records than this played out.
  5. As I said - this thread keeps going round in circles. As I said - this thread keeps going round in circles. As I said - this thread keeps going round in circles. As I said - this thread keeps going round in circles. As I said - this thread keeps going round in circles.
  6. "The Prior Caveats" - what a great title for a C/U !
  7. Is this the original rule book or the later second issue with the added sections on dullards, chinstrokers & that actually enjoying yourself is frowned upon!!!
  8. dull R&B is just that - DULL.
  9. Everytime this thread - or simliar ones - which have been discussed many times - reissues, CDs, first time on vinyl etc etc. get's brought up - instead of hollering for OVO perhaps we should be championing tunes from a legitimate source to be played. I really have no problem with Kent or unreleased Motown CDs etc. being played at gigs - in fact I would WELCOME them because in the main they are quality tunes - so let's hear 'em & not some awful piece of rare early sixties substandard, dull R&B being played in the name of Northern Soul.
  10. Weren't they the guys who sung "Get Out Of My Heart"
  11. Been saying exactly the same thing for a long while now. There is so much good stuff that has only ever been released on CD - would be great to hear some of this music out & about - sadly current attitudes & certain people dictate otherwise. Perhaps the "next generation" will listen to music with their ears, dance with their feet, enjoy with their heart & leave the politics to Westminster.
  12. Great list of tunes - but would you keep the dancefloor full for an hour with that set. When all is said & done a full dancefloor dictates how good a spot the DJ has delivered.

    My Wants List

The version by Maxine Weldon is available on a Monument 7 inch - just as good IMHO.
  14. Stop this common sense at once - it is totally unacceptable that so far into this thread a voice of reason has spoken up. I ask you where is the fun in playing & listening to previously unreleased rare soul?
  15. That's because you go to OVO venues.
  16. Think how many times you have heard Frank Wilson without Kenny Burrell or Tim Brown behind the decks - & then think how many times you have seen someone go over to the DJ to complain - let me hazard a guess - NEVER!!! Sums up the scene & this thread how it really is & not some rare soul Utopia which has never existed & never will.
  17. 145 posts on this thread - what difference is it going to make to the Northern soul scene this weekend & any other subsequent weekend. Absolutely zero!!!!
  18. This thread is one singing the praises of original vinyl. CDs & carvers are not original vinyl.
  19. I always thought OVO meant exactly that - not OVO but.................. I will tell you 101 reasons why there are exceptions!!
  20. I have said on here many times - carvers are bootlegs - no matter how many times anybody tries to justify the reason they are OK to play. Best one is "I don't want to carry an LP around with me" - what total bo**ox is that!!
  21. This thread tends to rear its ugly head every couple of months & quite frankly it never actually changes or achieves anything IMHO. No doubt that in the next couple of weeks there will be "Wigan Anniversary" nights up & down the country - they will be well attended - they will not be "pushing the envelope" - they will play, no doubt, overplayed oldies. Will they all be on original vinyl ? doubtful - & I don't think the paying punters will really care. Give it another 6-8 weeks & we can debate all this - AGAIN!!!!!!
  22. The Javells charted in November 1974. Maxine Nightingale charted in November 1975 The original Nosmo King Pye 7" was possibly released 6-9 months earlier than November 1974.
  23. Maxine Nightingale was recorded AFTER Nosmo King - that's unless he incorporates clairvoyancy into his act.
  24. Of the current crop - "Foolish Girl" C/U has been played for quite a while now - although quite a lot of dealers/DJs know who it is.
  25. Of the current crop - "Foolish Girl" C/U has been played for quite
