  1. Thankyou - I now consider myself (as many others do!!) one of the nobs I was referring to.
  2. Think I've got this thread all wrong - thought it said "Northern Souls Nobs!!!
  3. Yea - a right w*nker - he talks "Cobblers" all the time. Ockers - where are you ? - those "bigger boys" are are being mean to me.
  4. Adey then put all those brilliant tracks on 2 blinding CDs - The Sharon Scott tracks are absolutely brilliant & I would not have a problem with any DJ playing these tracks off a CD at a venue. In fact I think it is a crying shame that the said tracks are overlooked because the CD is, in some quarters, regarded as "the devils work" & should be avoided at all costs. I understand that a lot of gigs do not have CD decks but let's be honest they are not exactly the most expensive pieces of equipment are they ?
  5. One thing to consider - if the tune is going to leave theses shores - where does that leave the Frank Wilson OVO fans?
  6. Surely those two words kind of defeat any argument you may have - OVO is what it is - ORIGINAL VINYL ONLY !!
  7. First off, at no point in my postings have I said it can't be played out. I really don't want to sound like a radical but let me make a completely off the wall suggestion ........................... play the CD!!!! That way it DOES get played out & to make things even better you can play it in it's only official, legal release format. - Motown see the popularity of these CDs thus releasing more previously unissued gems for us all to enjoy You don't have to buy a carver or play a boot - everybody's happy!!!
  8. I didn't make the rules about OVO - other people do that. To help me understand (& so as not to talk some utter bollocks) please explain to me why it is acceptable to play a carver (bootleg) & not okay to play a legally released CD track. If anybody can give me a definitive answer to this question I will graciously concede to their better knowledge.
  9. To me OVO should mean just that.................. not OVO but I can play the odd carver or two. Once people take the high moral ground about original vinyl that is where they must then stay. Anybody IMHO who pays to have a piece of music copied onto an acetate or carver has broken their own code of conduct & is not in any position to criticise anybody else who doesn't happen to play OVO.
  10. When versions like the Tammi Terrell one only get released on CD it tends to dent the OVO argument IMHO. It's a real shame that because of the "rules" tunes like this will never get the audience & acclaim they deserve.
  11. I am now entering "Barry's World" - I have this vision of Kenneth More djing in an old dis-used aircraft hangar - he drops "The Aeroplane Song" onto the floor comes Douglas Bader - when the tune hits the break Bader attempts an ill advised back drop (just to show he can) of couse he is now flat on his back & cannot get up. Nobody bothers to help him until a kindly seventies childrens TV presenter - we shall call him Derek, with the help of two cuddly toys, walks over & helps him to his feet. "There, there all over now Douglas - let's go home through the arched window & we'll listen to some "Soulful Playhouse" tunes on the way there"
  12. Digital Verniers?????????? What's up with a genuine 1960s Moore & Wright 0"-!" Micrometer (batteries not an option).
  13. A dime ? There is no D9ning you on that.!
  14. Not forgetting of course the torque settings for the needle weight on their prized 45s - is it in inch pounds or newton metres ? or is it just bollox to that if it jumps just blu-tack a 2p coin to the pick up arm.
