my original post was regarding paying for a service ie recorded delivery at the price agreed then finding out they have sent it at a cheaper option and keeping the difference !!!!!!!!!!

If the record arrives at the agreed price (including postage) & in the condition stated I don't really see the problem.

  2. When buying records you look at the price of the item & the price of the postage.

You then agree to buy the item - remember it is you who wants the item.

Why complain afterwards about the prices you are charged ?

    You have 2 choices.

    A) Buy the record
    B) Don't buy the record

If it was a state of the art music system, this was more than let down by the fact the beer was JW Lees from Oldham, and if you thought the beer was bad, then you needed to try the cider, shocking

The only good nite I had there was when Burnley FC unexpectedly beat Preston to get to the final of the Sherpa Van Trophy which was at Wembley 1988 against Wolves. The current chairman - Teasdale, and the team came in to celebrate what turned out to be a momentous win, very important for the club. Can still picture the champagne flowing, obviously knew to stick to the bottled stuff

You should have seen the night the Wolves team had - they won it !!!

  7. The Bottle - Gil Scott-Heron/ Brian Jackson (Strata-East) was played as soon as The Winter In America album was released.

    Game Players - Dooley Silverspoon

It's Better To Have (And Don't Need) - Don Covay

Mick Holdsworth mentioned Jeff Perry "Love Don't Come No Stronger" getting instant plays. We actually gave away UK Arista  demos of this as brand new release to first x number in at Manchester Ritz All-Dayer the Sunday before it was officially released on the Monday. Same with demos of Debbie Taylor "Just Don't Pay".

"It's Better To Have (And Don't Need) was the other way around as it was played in all the high street discos in 1974 & was picked up on the Northern scene some years later.

  8. Just to let everyone know, Sean's funeral service will be held at 3.00pm on Friday the 17th of July at St Mary's Church, Matthias Street, Morecambe, LA4 5JR and then Slyne with Hest Cemetery, Bottomdale Road, Lancaster at 4.00pm. The wake venue is at The Keys, Main Rd, Slyne - 4:30 to 6:30 if you could let me know if you're attending so I can this on to his wife Sharon so she has an idea of numbers, thank you.

  9. Are we assuming that if the singer is white the record is a "pop" record ? That seems to be the trend here.

Danny Wagner - "I Lost A True Love" - a "pop" record that is as soulful as you can get !!

  10. That struck a chord with me ,you mentioning guys back dropping to Funky Street ,as the first time I witnessed this style of dancing was to that very record ....

We were dancing like that (or trying to !!) at a club in Blackpool called Disco '72 - way before people were "Dancing the Kung Fu" !! Never seen the link to Soul music & martial arts myself although I was a blue belt in Origami in 1975 !!
