  1. Northern Soul is anything from Paul Anka & Benny Troy to Bobby Womack & Linda Jones.................... it's not "pure" but nevertheless has been enjoyed by many for over 40 years.
  2. Wigan Casino putting on it's 1st "Oldies All Nighter" - the start of the "same old ,same old" tunes being played over & over.
  3. Not a new genre really - quite a few "northern" tunes have been housed/jazzed/discofied in recent years courtesy of people like Pilooski, Al Kent, Bamboos etc.

  9. In the early 70s in the Blackpool area the local midweek soul nights used to play Major Lance "Ain't No Soul" off The Torch album & "The Ghetto" from Donny Hathaway Live was massive in clubs in & around The Fylde Coast - it packed floors too !!!

  15. There was a version of The Exciters "Blowing Up My Mind" released on Contempo which was recorded later than the original RCA cut.
  16. Whilst I applaud the ethics in this thread there is a part of me who says "you pays your money - you takes your choice". The records sold on ebay may have been bought buy somebody who doesn't know or even care whether that piece of plastic they bought is original - if it gives them pleasure that is all that matters to them.

  20. The Kon Kord issue is just a straight copy of the Brown Door album which is a very hard to find item these days.
