  1. missed the show last night Neil, gonna grab ya download! cheers. Real nice looking playlist as always mate, three crackers from Mr Leaville steve
  2. Have to say I agree Russell, regarding "Baby I'm Yours" . It's my fav by them too! and much as I adore anything by Dee Dee Warwick, I do prefer the Olympics's version over her take on it on Blue Rock. and coupled with the superb "No More Will I Cry" makes the Olympics record a cracking double sider! steve
  3. yeah I know thought it was silver verses gold font? the group name the easy way I'd thought? steve
  4. two going for it now, and not novice buyers either? $224 steve
  5. Re The Vipers, not sure, I got it in a soul pack many years ago, always thought it had something, even more so for these days. seems it's quite hard in good nick? steve
  6. Vipers "Little Miss Sweetness" ? steve https://youtu.be/-34tD5WqJbo
  7. Stunning version Dave, not heard Jackie's take before! just listened to the flip on YT, and agree...great double sider! steve
  8. hi Paul, would love to hear it myself! never seen it, wonder if it ever made it to general release, Lonnie said he'd been given no copies of it? so would think it at least made demo stage. I lost contact with him, but see that he still has a youtube channel, but inactive for over 2 years. atb steve
  9. Steve, the other side of mine is "touch The wind" ? and would think Ian's is a same sider, being a promo steve
  10. Hi Gary, cracking track that mate, wonder why whoever youtubed it blanked out the title? actually if you look at the scan, that's the A side "The Bushman" ? mebs that's the only side they could find on the web? steve
  11. I love Eugene Pitt with the Jyve Fyve's cover of the Elton John song "Come Down In Time" Kinda does it for me. Though Elton's original had a poignant feel, Eugene and the Guys just nail it! "soulfully" for me. as an aside I think Bernie Taupin is one of the greatest lyricists of popular music. https://youtu.be/H8PlRjPUXEk Steve
  12. Five that I keep playing at the mo in the room... Jesse James "Bring My Baby Back" Hit (also on 20th Cent) Gwen McCrae "He Keeps Something Groovy Goin On" Cat Mary Wells "Cancel My Subscription" Reprise (was pleased to pick up a copy of "If You Can't Give Her Love" with this on the other side) Renaldo Domino "Just Say The Word" Blue Rock Dee Dee Gartrell - "Would It Break Your Heart" Maverick steve
  13. Nice to see the flip of Lonnie's "I Can Make You Happy" bought this first for ICMYH but really like the flip these days. I had a message from Lonnie a few years ago after I'd posted both sides on my youtube channel, he told me he'd done a whole LP for Mercury? I've never seen anything else by him from the 70's? In the man's words "I recorded those records when I was 18 years old with James and Willie Mitchell accompanied by some of the best musicians in that era" ..and put me on the list of Dee Dee's "I Really Love You" fans, I'm one of those that took years of having "Standing In The Need Of Love" before really appreciating the timeless quality of the other side! steve
  14. Kev, superb list of tunes mate, I didn't know Tyrone Harris (ya gonna tell me ya put it on a CD for me now! ).. just picked a copy up, a welcome addition, recommended by a man with "real" taste. Ta! steve
  15. Kev, is that not Selma mate? as you say (and thanx to you for putting me onto it) a truely stunning track! Hey! maybe you're playing anagrams!
  16. yup, got it on Nation too, different A sides, didn't know which came first, thanx for that Robb. steve
  17. Yeah! V Wagers.. another one!. also the flip of "Luck I Found You" the excellent "Until I Found You" steve
  18. If you like the mid-tempo crossover sound then I'd recommend Bettye Jean Plummer "Baby I Want You Back" coupled with a brill version of the standard "I Believe" and only a cheapie steve
  19. Steve, it only dawned on me recently when I was playing some Ralfi Pagan 45's and then pulled out the Ray Paige RCA record for "Don't Stop Now" that it had to be the same voice? wonder why the name change? for the thread it gotta be Ronnie Milsap's version for me, and then the Major. steve
  20. Always loved the flip of "Come Back Girl" one for the Beat Ballad thread maybe? ... "Tell him You Lied" steve https://youtu.be/99O55a4E2X4
  21. Another that I like "(My Girl) She's A Fox" .. again them Poindexter brothers, arranged by Lonnie Youngblood, and a little bit of early Jimi Hendrix thrown in too! steve https://youtu.be/Gn15oG6jiFU
  22. cheers Bob, not sure if I've asked this before, but do you have any info on the writer of both sides of Ultimations 45 "Po-Jo" I've seen "Po-Mo" as writing credits on something Chicago, but can't remember what? steve
  23. A group I would love some info on is The Ultimations... one incredible double sider on Mar-V-Lus... apart from that I don't know anything else by 'em, (i always thought they must have recorded stuff under another name, coz to me they were too good to have had only one release!) steve
