Steve Edgar replied to PS-Soul's topic in Event Playlists - Reviews
Those playlists say it all! Superb selections by all. wish I hadn't been on-call last weekend, we would love to have been down for this. Deffo gonna try to get down in Dec. Well done to all the H&G guys..... keeping it real for sure! steve -
Love this track Martyn (as with just about anything Jesse James did!) just wished they hadn't put the canned live bit on it, would love to hear it without the party cheering bits! Another couple of his 20th Cent numbers that would fit in at H&G are "Bring My Baby Back" and "If You're Lonely" Think we've had 'em both posted in these threads steve steve

With you on this being the better version Martyn think supremes was first (1965?) also prefer Barbara McNairs version of Supremes "My World Is Empty Without You" You was asking if it was on US 45! it is mate! steve ps when I was playing it our lass asked what it was the similar backing to? .... then she started humming "It may be winter outside"

Classy Willie Hutch track, always loved this, and Jimmy James did it well over here too, on tother side of the Pye release of "Red Red Wine" ...here's Jimmy James & the Vagabonds take of "Who Could Be Loving You" on Pye from 1968 (not on his US Atco release of Red Wine) just for comparison. John, it surprised me too mate! had 2 in by him but had to take 'em out to make ten.... but today i could put 'em back in! along with a couple more by Notations.... that's what makes the label so good to me steve
-
Good pics Kev, another label that's hard to do a top ten on mate, Manhattans "Betcha" a record from my perennial top ten! The late great George Smith never sounding better for me steve
-
Here's a top ten of mine from the Twinight label.......... 1) Johnny Williams - Maggie 2) Josephine Taylor - I've Made Up My Mind 3) Dynamic Tints - Package Of Love 4) Jimmy Jones - Yesterday's Mistakes 5) Annette Poindexter - Wayward Dream 6) Kaldirons - To Love Someone 7) Renaldo Domino - I'm A Good Man 8) Notations - A New Day 9) Elvin Spencer - Lift This Hurt 10) Nate Evans - Main Squeeze (hard to keep it at ten, with such a classy label!) Steve

with ya on that Dave, even with only seven releases, ya could still pick a classy ten as most are double sided class! Steve

Blues Groove, superb little choon! would throw in Penny Carter's other Verve 45 "He Can't Hurt Me No More" as well. Steve

Wayne, going by the "Z4KM" matrix on my copy, I'd say 1970 for the Gene Williams (red issue) atb Steve
