  2. interesting info Dave, thanx for posting, Always thought the Jubilee outfit was a different group and an early colaboration of Hall and Oates after Temptones and The Masters. and didnt know "Im A Winner Now" came out on Jubilee before North Bay. An interesting write up as I say. just a pedantic note... the UK release label was Cloud One, not Cloud Nine as the biog states. steve

  8. Agree with you there Barry, never a fan of his funk, but there's some great mid-tempo 70's things around. along with the 2 ya mention, I also really rate... "You Took My Heart" "So long" "Your Love Was Good to Me" "People Wake Up And Live" and his duo with Lynn Collins "What My Baby Needs Now" ...I'd be interested in any others in this vein too! steve
  9. Chalky! on the list is "Soul O Sonic" would that need to go on the 70's sub list? Also are "Music Now" and "Mid-Town" 60's or early 70's (they both on list) steve ps, can we see the 70's list yet pps, think you've been doin a great job on this Chalky...well done mate! ppps when we gonna start the Chicago list?

  12. Geoff if ya not bothered bout "California Soul", LTTEOL also came out with "Anyone Can Move A Mountain" on Cadet 5618, be a fraction of the price of California Soul, which I've seen at daft prices recently. was only playing this record this afternoon too! steve
  13. will Fee have to be moved to 70's labels too?
  14. yeah it is Rod, I mentioned the label early on in thread got mesell confused as usual lol. Brothers Gilmore track on it steve
  15. An incredible selection of tunes from Sean, PJ and Neil today. the "White Bull Special" was indeed special, showing why the tunes they spin at Gisburn make it such a fantastic venue, run by one of the friendliest group of guys on the scene. steve
  16. Sounds Good! would have to be seperate thread. another for the Detroit list.... Lee Rogers own label "Soul Wheel" looked kinda like the Big Wheel logo, only one release i think from the man himself steve
  17. Jay Walking is part of SoulVille. Harrisburg. steve
  18. Chisa was Hugh Masekela's label, originally distributed by Buddah, but Motown did distribute it a some point. Arthur Adams 45's were I'm sure steve
  19. think Melody Land & Hitsville were Motowns C&W labels. Bit like the way Melody label was after the first 3 or 4 good releases. Made the mistake years ago of picking some stuff up on these labels
