  4. Aye up Peter, "Blues Time In Birmingham" stunning deep soul mate. That Youtube clip ain't a 2nd press mate! that's off my channel. Sho-Me was the local release before being picked up by Juana. if ya look at ya Juana copy bud, you'll see it times at 3:20, the Sho-Me cut comes in at 4:59! had to put the Sho-Me version on Youtube as an extra minute or so of this brilliant bit soul was essential steve
  5. There's an extra 69 pages, so possibly another 3000 or so listings? but with the lack of additional lines of info you had within 5th editon, maybe less? (just a guess) steve

  8. Here ya go Peter. https://www44.zippyshare.com/v/9648093/file.html The link is courtesy of Zane . who does a sterling job recording and making available loads of radio shows for people who couldn't make the live streams. The guy is an unsung hero with what he does! steve
  9. a cracker Martyn, from that man Tony Bruno (and his missus) Did read somewhere that it was Tony who discovered Maxine, when she walked into his Nomar Records office in NY dunno if this is true, was in contact with Tony Bruno a couple of years back, and am sure he confirmed this? steve
  10. Martyn regarding Casanova Two on Early Bird, yes mate there are boots on orange issues, they look real good too! but the matrix is scratched in rather than stamped, and the label colour a bit of a lighter orange. There's also white demo boots as well i think? that don't have the word "records" under the Early Bird logo. What a cracking tune it is tho! and so perfect for today imo. steve
  11. Little Ray "I've Been Trying" Atco https://youtu.be/31roqyEv_Jo steve
  12. Little Ray (real name Ramon Jimenez) Renowned "Eastside" L.A. Chicano singer, who could belt out a dance tune or drop into a deep soulful ballad. Nice one Martyn, also rate his Columbia 45 he recorded later as Ray Jimenez "I'll Keep On Loving You" but really prefer the flip that these days, "Leave Her Alone" Another track of his I love is the deep swayer "Ive Been Trying", got it on Atco, it also came out on Donna (which is a slighty different take having backing vocals) steve
  13. Superb two hours of "Just Soul" thanx lads, really enjoyed that. bit of essential listening that! steve
  14. Sean and Tats on now playing some cracking Soul for a Sunday morning https://tx.sharp-stream.com/tune.php?c=solar2&.wax steve
  15. Spot on Martyn, we all love getting a bargain mate steve
  16. my fav Peter, prefer this these days to "In A Moment".... but only just! steve
  17. Cheers Dave, it was probs thru ya goodself that I heard it mate steve
  18. Not a lover of the funky side Swifty, some of them funky tunes amaze me with what they go for? but the old adage "It doesn't mater what music you're into, as long as ya into ya music" always holds true imho. steve
  19. Like it Peter he's got another I like on the label, "Can't Stop you" (I think?) is it on the flip of this? steve
  20. Hi Swifty, it'll be the same disc mate, tother side is "Excedrin Headache #24" dunno what they did with the previous 23 headaches but they sang about this one! and yes mate... a funky number. steve
  21. Love this track Dave, I maybe a bit controversial here, but I will always prefer The Monitors version. I just think Richard Street really made this track his own. and I love the smoother feel to the Monitors backing harmonies. steve
  22. Truth - Come Back Home - Sounds Of Cleveland SOC steve
  23. Over to Cleveland Ohio for this one. On the O'jays own label from late 70's we have Truth and their "Come Back Home" the group had at one time been the Imperial Wonders on Solid Foundation. Gotta say this is 7 minutes of PURE SOUL and to my ears just about the best 7 min's of music ever put on a 45! the vocals of Larry Hancock (ex S.O.U.L. on Musicor) and Leo Green are sublime on this epic and classic builder. Often wondered what the O'jays would have done with this, and tho I'm an immense fan of them, think Eddie Levert and the guys would have come 2nd to this version. Just IMHO I hasten to add! The guys went on to do "Coming Home" on another Cleveland label Devaki, a track also covered by the Temptations but the Tempt's changed the writing credits to their names? Turn the lights down low and grab a slice of skin tingling Soul! Steve
  24. Looking forward to hearing you and Tat's back on the radio Sean, bout time too! Steve
  25. Nice one mate, really rate his bluerock 45's, gotta say I prefer the flip to this, "Lonely Heart In The City" steve
