  1. What about a VG++ copy of the far rarer withdrawn issue of the alternate title "Popeye" scan and unedited clip attached, you interested in it? steve popeye edit.mp3
  2. strange that Joan, I've deffo done it that way, and wasn't asked? does it only apply over a certain amount? Also I set up a seperate bank account for Paypal use, and not credit card, wonder if that makes a difference, coz i defo never got asked bout who pays the fees. mind knowing me it mebs did and I said the other bloke, and that's why he won't sell me anymore bleedin records! steve
  3. Not so sure on that Mike, I've bought off here and done paypal as a "gift" and I never have any funds in my account (bit like me normal bank account!! ) .... Does it not just stay as "pending" till the transaction clears It's a good point you raise! I'd only pay as gift if I was sure of who they were steve
  4. Hi Baz...it says on me 45 "from the album What A Shame" tis a crackin Ronnie Shannon tune!...as is "She's for real" another Black Gold 45 steve
  5. Little Willie John....but the take without strings, is my fav version of this classic tune steve
  6. Does for me mate! My take on "Crossover" is the same as "Northern", it comes from all directions "If it's good, and it fits...then it's in!" all good ingredients, just a different flavour! I'd class... Gino Washington's "I'll Be Around" Martha's "My Baby Needs Me" Joe Tex's "Old Time Lover" Louis Curry "Toast To you" ..as crossover myself? (one man's meat and all that!) been so many top choices! picking a fav for me will always change, mainly coz I aint heard 'em all yet! Philharmonics "I Need I Need Your Love" and.. Hesitations "Is This A Way To treat A Girl" will always be up there somewhere for me steve
  7. That's his best for me, perfect crossover (well, my type of crossover), books at a ton fifty, but should be picked up quite easy for half that seen a few go thru ebay of late! steve
  8. Think it was the same with Tammi? think only Kim stood "side by side" at the mic? Gotta say it defo Tammi for me, but one of my fav Marvin Gaye duets has to be "I Want You 'Round" which was with Kim Weston. When you see footage of Marvin with Tammi on stage, there is such a chemistry there! Steve
  9. Agreed! and at a tenner a shot a real bargain too! steve
  10. Stereo 45's would've been fairly new tho wouldn't they? Is it right that Berry Gordy didn't release a stereo 45 till aug 1968 with Bobby Taylor's "Malinda"? steve
  11. how about they are both from the same release, and Chess needed a re-run, but they couldn't use the original masters? Or! the disc was popular and Chess wanted to cash in on the new "fandangled" craze of stereo, so run the 2nd load from the stereo mix??? ...just a thought! steve
  12. Pete mine defo mono, and deadwax is, at 6 o'clock 14784, at 8 o'clock TM1769, then at 5 o'clock MW hope this helps, wondered if flip "You made Me A VIP" is stereo on your copy as well? steve ps see ya said yours has "SW" stereo waxing???
  13. Ya not on ya own with that dream Dave! steve
  14. Looking forward to this Brett, knowing your taste in music, this will be something not to be missed mate steve
  15. ..must admit when I picked it up in late 80's (or was it early 90's ?)when they first turned up (was it 15 quid off Mr Manship?) I did think looking at it compared to all my other Flaming Arrow 45's, it didn't look right! had that brand new crackle as it came out the sleeve like when ya bought a new release in woolies! Still I kept it coz for me it's a fantastic track! and sounds even better today propper crossover to me. but surely no more then fifty to a ton! steve
  16. Hi Philippe, great pic of the girls! WWWMB did come out on Virgo on their"Golden Memories" series, not a Dynovoice release I know, but an offical release I'd have thought, wonder why they picked the track for "Golden Memories"? steve
  17. "I Got A Man" penned by Sandy Linzer and Denny Randell, as was most of The Toys stuff on the album it came off I'd have thought Toys would be first. Take it The Crystals vers. was arranged by Charlie Calello, as was their other UA 45 "You Can't Tie A Good Girl Down" / "My Place" . Charlie Calello was also the Arranger on The Toys LP, so maybe he liked the tune and did it again on The Crystals for 45 release?? I don't believe The Toys got a 45 release on Dynovoice (which is a real pity imho) there was a few tracks on that LP that would have been nice on 45, in particular their brill version "What's Wrong With Me Baby" (tho that side did at least get a 45 release in 73 on Virgo, pity they flipped it with "Yesterday" from the LP and not "I Got A Man") hth steve
  18. Ya sure Dee Dee is on Gamble? thort she had only the two 45's on the label, "What Kind Of lady" and "Bottle Or Me", neither of which has this on the flip, they both got "Youre Gonna Miss Me" on b sides It aint one of her cameo releases is it mate? steve
  19. ...anyway, more to the point...I wanna know what ike Turner's gonna do with that finger?? Tina's lookin none too chuffed!!! steve
  20. Sounds very gospel like! it aint the Swanee Quintet is it?? steve
  21. Yup same here Dave 5501 to 5536 and missing 5521! I used to think that coz Bob & Earl is on 5517 that the 5507 was a missprint? Tho on listing I have 5517 is A side "Baby It's Over" and 5507 A side is "Dancin' Everywhere" Can't remember now where I got label listing from, it's an old bit of brown edged paper! ..and yeah the boots, carrrying on from 5536! think there's even a garage type one on The Bees too! I'm still after Bobby Timberland, but I'm waiting for someone to give me a copy, coz I can't bring myself to buy it coz IMHO, I think it's a bag of kack at the price it goes for! (sorry meant Timberlake!) steve
  22. Dave, I'd be interested if 5507 actually exists? one of the few I need myself to complete the label. been searching for this number for years and aint seen one steve
