  3. Bob, Marvelettes "You're The One for Me Bobby" did come out on 45! It's on the flip of their last 45 "A Breath Taking Guy" on Tamla 54213 in 1971 ( a cracking track as you say!) steve

  13. With reference to "polishing" I always thought it was the old trick of using black boot polish on a vinyl record to reduce the graying effect of over played (vinyl) records? to con someone into thinking they looked good? steve

I suppose you know Maxine Brown also did a version, but no way near the feeling of Ray Gant's imho (much as I adore anything Maxine does!) steve

  20. Gotta agree with Matyn, Jr Walker will always be my fav, as ya say there must be loads of versions? One I quite like which was often thought to be LP only is by 5th Dimension. Really should be on Soul City, but managed to pick it up on this Mexican Capitol label 45! as you can see from my scan it's actually an EP, but handy for playing out 5th Dimension "What Does It Take" https://youtu.be/2x80cox0g2U ...Love Billy Davis's voice! and indeed Marilyn McCoo's!
