  1. Think they both came out at the same time? mid 60's as opposed to Cletus's other Terry 45 (the excellent "You're Gonna Miss Me") which was released much later (after his death I think) both the Geneva and Terry release share the same issue number. got it on Geneva, and would think they both about same price? steve
  2. well amen to that! ..... bit like the gadgy at Musicor when they re-issued Porgy's "My Heart Cries" .... "can't find Think Twice Before You Walk away!.... this one will do??" I'd like to think someone with a bit of taste said "let's try this!" Denbo! hope ya find one, was a $4 record in the cheap bin when I got it a few years back, and for ages peeps said it was LP only! Would expect it to be a real cheap one, when it turns up. and they will. I blame Tim Brown anyway, for putting it on his "Beat Ballad Heaven" cd! steve
  3. You know Bob, in my ignorance I'd always assumed it was THE James Brown! Thanks for that! and of course ones of the writers (and I assume group members) of Unlimited Four is J M BROWN! (along with Young, Collins & Harrison) So is this the "James Brown" of J.B.P. label? and indeed are the LMNOP's and Unlimited Four the same group? ...and where does Skip August fit in? Interesting stuff, I'm curious! steve
  4. Mine plays clean Andy, sounds like it's either been backtracked or part played on a shagged needle? steve
  5. cheers Bob. One thing I have noticed is their "Calling" record seems to be a take on The LMNOP's "Calling" on James Brown's JBP label out of Pulaski that is credited to Skip August as writer, with Unlimited Four's being the usual writers Brown, Harrison & Collins? steve
  6. I know Bob, Wayne's already got 2 of them Out of interest are there any other releases by them elsewhere? steve
  7. Pete, here's a scan of mine, it's got the "inverted" matrix, but the stamp on the disc ends with T1-2C. So are you saying this is a 70's press? steve
  8. Glad ya sorted Wayne, we looking forward to a catch up at the North Lancs weekender mate you need to be ratching a copy of their other Chanson 45 now https://youtu.be/-9EcsrOeKCo
  9. Joe Graves died in 1992, think he only cut four singles, the 2 Parkway 45's the Rack / RCA one (Which is the same cut on both labels) and also an earlier track that I can't remember? Sad that there wasn't any more from this talented singer, just love "It's Got To Be For Real" and "Debbie". would love to know if there is any other material by Joe! steve
  10. Its Joyce Hopson and "This Time" on Revue, flip to her "I Surender To You" steve
  11. Nice one Steve! Always thought this was a UK only issue? got it on that dreaded uk style of 70's labels the engraved vinyl with what looks like a kid has run over it with a blue paint roller! Must look for a US issue now! steve
  12. my issue ends "2c" and I beleive it's a first issue as on the label the matrix number "DR 41266" is upside down above the Deram issue number DM146, thought the re-issues had the matrix number the right way round on the label (if that makes sense?) steve
  13. Got it on Blue and Yellow Wayne, the yellow says "Dist by All Platinum" where as Blue dont, but both records are pressed off the same stamper vinyl's identical and both seem about the same price wise? classy little cheapie mate. One of there other Chanson 45's is well worth picking up "True Love Is Hard To Find" too! tho a bit harder than "Walk Away" steve
  14. Great info Heath! interesting stuff, also well done on an excellent web site, just been having a look steve
  15. Cheers Dave Interesting stuff mate ta If you do get the chance Bob thanx, I can hear the difference of the Solid Hit version you played, ie. the addition of strings and the dropping of the organ. To be honnest, for me, I prefer the Mah's cut, I find it a bit more haunting. Really enjoyed the show Bob, yet more education for me, and how good is that Little Ronnie track! love it! and I'd never heard the flip of the Charts record before, spot on! Happy and Brenda Southall's version of the Masqueraders classic were 2 new ones to me too, really like 'em steve
  16. Cheers Bob, looking forward to hearing that, (playing the show now) steve
  17. Hi Bob, looks a great playlist from the ones I know, gonna get a listen this afternoon thanx for posting it Just a question bout Magic Tones "Fun To Be Young" is that a typo? I got it on Mah's but their Solid Hit is a different record ain't it? or did it come out on Solid Hit too? steve
  18. Didn't know that Rob, always thought it was penned by George McGreggor on his own, don't credit Pat on the label, then agian it don't credit Mike Terry for the wonderful string arrangement either? thanx for that Conner! the Verve release for Terri Bryant was released in march 1967, and recorded at Ralph Terrana's "Terra Sherma" studio in Detroit. (but ya mebs knew that mate) steve
  19. Yeah just noticed! always thought Sho-Me was a local release before Juana? Mebs they just wanted to issue it again with the longer A side "Blues Time"? steve
  20. The Juana release should be about a tenner mate, the Sho-Me I'd have thought twice as much, but if the side ya into is "Blues Time" then the Sho-Me release gives ya a wee bit more of it at nearly 5 mins against the Juana at less than 3 and a half. hth steve
  21. Tony Hester does it again with the guys Jocko! Superb! (and yet again there's a certain Johnny Allen in there with the arrangement! ) steve
  22. now then Dave (nearly said Howwww Much" there ) Only got that Dynamics issue, so don't know what it sez when they corrected the typo on the group? btw dave what happened to Arkwight? you'll do owt to show off ya new T shirt collection! steve
