  1. I like you am re-juvinating my interests and after getting rid of my collection in about 1983 and was very wary of starting all over again, but against maybe my better judgement I have (and I'm loving it), but also like you I live in a world where you can still buy a sound you like for £8. and I don't care whether its as sound that's "IN" or just a sound I like or brings back my youth. I took my 24 year old son to Prestatyn who has a healthy all round love of music (like myself) and he really enjoyed it, and was interested in the roots of the different types of "NS" (if you still call it that) he especially spotted the link to the old blues and cajun of the deep south in some of the very early stuff, he want's to come again next year, but last night he was off to see the"Flogging Mollies" and will probably back at Prestatyn for the "Tidy Weekender" on friday. As much as I love NS it's good to listen to other stuff or it all becomes a little "an*l"
  2. Am struggling to find an on-line soul station to listen to, often listen to Norther Soul radio on 365 but gets very repetative. Any suggestions. After the weekend realised how long I had really been off the scene and need to bring myself up to this centuary's scene
  3. My feet hurt - purse is definately empty - head still buzzing could do it all over again tonight.
  4. Is that a satement or a question?
  5. What Planet is this seller on I feel quilty charging 1.50 UK for a 7" and think am one of the cheapest on postage just shipped LP to Japand for £5.00. This is where they are making up for ebay and pay pal charges. Just been charged 2.00 for a 7" normal postage in UK this is normally 70p unless the packaging is lead lined.
  6. Rather than buying totally blind if I'm not sure about a record i then go to manship and listen to the sound bite (if there is one) and then decide.
  7. If you want to escape for a while GREAT pub grub try the EAGLE AND CHILD in Gwaenysgor, about 2 miles from the camp (my dad used to own this one and the current landlord and landlady are great people. (Clinton & Sue). Say Hello to them for me as I may not make it up there this weekend as need to fit in w/ender mother's day lunch, seeing friends - who reckkon they are to old to SOUL with the obligatory sunday lunchtime drink with the wrinklies and ALL THA JAAAAAAAAAAAAZZ. Archies Bar top of Prestatyn High street (on left) ok wine barie trendy type place if you like that sort of thing, meeting some non soulies there for a drink early friday eve 6.30 ish. Cross Foxes top of Prestatyn High Street, on cross roads - OK PUB but apart from that don't bother venturing out unless you consult the chrissieo good beer guide!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have asked my mother to adopt some peeps for the weekend but she said three daughters is enough (AND SO DOES MY FATHER) so afraid will be snuggled up at parents for the weekend while you guys are listening to pigeons on the roof cos your so called MATES have strategically placed bread crumbs on the roof.

  11. SPOOOOOOOOOOOOKY
  12. Good Chippy at bottom of prestatyn hight street and v good indian on the coast road by the trafic lights about ten min walk from camp. Anyone want any more local knowledge let me know was born there - oh and by the way whoever said the chalets were ware time "WRONG" they were built when I was about 12, and even I'm not that old, but it used to be a race track and some of the chalets used to be stables, but I think they only used to use them as staff chalets now.
  13. The signs of advancing years are already showing, old people need less sleep, aparently, if you look at the time of some postings, here we are, up and about at ungodly hours reminicing about the "good ol days"
  14. It may be agood idea that there won't be so many of us around in 20 years time as there would not be enough room on the dance floor for the zimmer frames, but maybe we may get converts from our nurses and carers that have to come with us. Mind you I nearly had premeture heart failure earlier this week when my 25 year old son said he wanted to come to Prestatyn with me - so this year I will be accompanied by a NS virgin and potential convert. Maybe he just thinks I am too old to go on my own and needs to look after me.
  15. I remember when talc was frowned on and French Chalk was the "Real Thing" so to speak. Am I realy that old -
  16. Anyone about this weekend at Prestatyn from North wales 70s scene circa 1972-1977, Dixieland, Palace, Lido etc etc. would love to see a few old faces. Anyone know Gary Beatie, my bestest old soul mate, or where he is these days.
  17. There is only one answer STAY AT YOUR MOTHERS IN RHYL - good food, warm bed, and someone to iron your clothes
  18. You've just solved my dilema - who was going to iron my clothes for the weekend - sorted my mum lives in rhyl and OF COURSE i must visit her en route I go to Prestatyn.......SORTED
  19. This may be duplicate reply and hence not so witty but I think the goalposts would have got in the way of the dance floor - maybe thats where CPFC went wrong
  20. Does anyone remember the Palace in Rhyl in the 70s
