  1. Yes the world has gone barmy, not only on JM but load of stuff on ebay (THAT I WANTED) went for silly money last night, I don't mean bucks but over the odds for what it is, i.e. £8 stuff going round the £15 mark. Stuff I couldn't wait to get rid of that have come in job lots is sellilng actually sold WIgans OVastion Skiing in the Snow, would of given it away or made a Blue Peter flower pot out of it if it had been in the house any longer. Think everyone has got the bug after Prestatyn, or is it spring cleaning, think I will hang on to everything till late March next year, mind you may not be able to get in the house by then.
  2. I agree and wish I've never started it - things you do when you've had a beer ehh! Lets call it a day folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. Do I detect that this has now gone from inuendo to blatant filth and before the watershed (well better than behind the bike shed i suppose)
  4. feminism noun the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way, or the set of activities intended to achieve this state: feminist [show phonetics] noun [C] a person who believes in feminism, often being involved in activities that are intended to achieve change: Well you asked Never seen myself as a feminist, always seemed a bit tooooooo political for my girlie brain, couldn't burn my bra in the sixties as had no need for one in those days (or now thinking about it - think of all the money I could of saved!)
  5. You lot av got me thinking (and thats definately a rare one probably about £3K on manship), its time I kicked myself up the arse got rid of the sometimes man and his collection of 80s pop shit (only after I have depostited his Ultravox, OMD and Adam and the Ants LP's over his head) and sent the original QOFs back OOTF. Pattie Swallow would be appalled if she could see me now (Female DJ Orbit Club Rhyl, Early 70s one woman well ahead of her time)
  6. Did spot the paul weller double
  7. Maybe I'm just finding it a little more difficult being a 40+ returner after about a 23 year absence and non of my female mates are soulies and the sometimes man in my life wouldn't know a 45 if it hit him in the head. Someone said in one of the earlier posts that the oldies scene is more male dominated this is also maybe one of the problems as am an oldie fan but do listen and dance to other stuff. GET A LIFE CHRISSIE COMES TO MIND
  8. You're right it was not intended to be about the DJs but the whole scene so it is inevitable that the DJ issue would come into it a some point, I personally don't care what sex a DJ is as long as the sound is right.
  9. "I Second That Emotion" Must stop using that phrase it's getting a bit boooooooooring. If it was equal the female DJs would play alongside the blokes and there would not be "All Girl Line Ups". Swore I would never hit the decks again but have been asked to do the "midnight hour" at my nephews 21st - surprised my son is letting me near his decks, its bin about 27 years. Best keep the bozze to minimum till afterwards ehh!
  10. Thanks for sorting pass out for me - Had a great weekend!!!!!!!!!!
  11. South of Watford Gap and North Of London, don't want to be too specific as it may offend some of the good NS mates I do have locally.
  12. I had, had a few sherberts last when I started this last night, and now I have re-read it, although I still stand by 99% of it but may be not the "out on the pull" thing, but I have known some men who think I am only into the music cos they think I fancy them (ego problems), or bought a record cos they have it in their collection (SAD). Be honest if you didn't really love NS you wouldn't spend hours trawling ebay etc trying to buy 7" of plastic that is over priced and none of your mates will ever let you play when they come round. Does this pose another topic "Can Women Be NS Anoraks" or would they bl**dy want to be!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I do show some symptons i.e. "what label syndrome" "demoitus" "try and find the obscure rash" Is there a cure - or would I want there to be one????
  13. I know I said "Going to post this and then going to leave you all to fight it out" but think I may make a comment or two -- or shall I .............................................................
  14. Going to post this and then going to leave you all to fight it out. My main complaint about NS these days is that it is becoming (or has become) a MAN thing. When I was first involved in about 72 there was always a distinction between M & F and was always a male thing but not to the extent it is now. We all went to Wigan or wherever together and there was no sexual distinction just mates having a night out. I wont go to some of the best gigs near me because it's male orientated and a single woman (all be it of a certain age) is frowned upon and treated as a NS moron or just as there on the pull. Girls, did you see the men in Prestatyn who would want to pull there anway. I just enjoy the music and the atmosphere so don't fret we are not after your precious 45s, GIRLS JUST WANT TO HAVE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Appologies for spelling grammer etc as had a drink - or two.
  15. Go girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11. My first Prestatyn so in that maybe a virgin. But lost mine 3 miles away in June 1976 ooooooooooooh toooooooooonuch info
  16. Can't make this saturday although am in rhyl as its mum's 80th. Yes it was Jimmy Aspinall that used to DJ the dixie. The scene down here is good but a bit chauvanist , they think women don't know anything about NS. So I just pretend to be a bit dumb and then title drop something a bit off the wall and get gobsmaked looks. Have some good DJ's down here and some good gigs, but I don't go very often as non of my female friends are into NS and it tends to be very much a MAN thing.
  17. will pm you
  18. Shame you didn't read my original post before Prestatyn we could of had a reunion there. chrissieo AKA chrissie kemp
  19. The "Massive Lady DJ" was Pat Swallow, and yes it was great to go there to wind down on a sunday. after about 74 though we used to go to the dixieland in Rhyl - I think, my memory isn't what it was.
  20. Mark Speakman - used to be at school in, wait for it, Prestatyn, with a Mark Speakman is it the same guy?????
  21. Are some people never happy, was a great weekend unlike some of you did not do the all night thing but certainly at 5am on sunday morning the main arena dance floor was still buzzing. Bok to S**t is not one of my favorites but it did make me feel about 14 again (for just a couple of mins) My big sister came with me on sunday eve and I nearly went into total embarasment mode when i realised i was dancing to In Orbit for probably first time in 25 years what the heck we enjooooooooooyed, I could just see some of the "IN" people thinking who are those two silly old fools dancing to this crap. I've said it once today and I'm going to say it again "IT's all just getting a little An*l, why can't people just enjoy and take pleasure out of other people enjoying themselves instead of moaning all the time. The TV programme "Grumpy Old Men" comes to mind. Good night all - going to rest my weary bones and gob!!!!!!!!!!!
  22. PS Who gives a T*ss as long as we all enjoooooooooooooy. My legs ache, my heads still buzzing with sounds, my purse is empty and all I can say is ROLL ON NEXT MARCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. I tend to like the rawer sound of the 60s stuff but I accept that it is my own personal pref, and if something was made this year and I liked it, I'd buy. Its good that Prestatyn has soemthing for everyone otherwise is would just fade and die and would not have enough support from just one genre, it's the mix that keeps it going.
  24. "I second that emotion"
