  9. Think the QOF has said enough for one day but I agree with col "what are you talking about" not being contreversial (never could spell that word) but just want to know what you talking about - Do they have all dayers in Wakefiled nick? QOF ps col you never did put up your blasts from the pasts like you promised!
  10. Replied to little stevie's pm and the first rounds on me!! See you both in April I hope (that's you reg)
  11. Yes plenty. Where do I start on this one. First of all Sir may I thank you for re-raising this thread as I have been waiting for someone to, so that I can put pen to paper, on a more serious note than the flippant sometimes cutting (but only meant in jest) remarks I some times make. I have been made welcome by the vast majority of people on this site (JT, Ken, BigO, Janine, Karneb etc etc.........u know who u are..),- and to you people I say thank you and apologise in advance for what is to come!!!! First I do agree with about 21 words of your posting I do think that soul-source attracts a certain type of punter though..I think most are wanting something a bit different. But that's about as far as it goes Handbaggers - now there's a term, do I qualify, usually only attend about once a month but would go to an all nighter ?. not the handbag revival crowd and over played/done to death top 500.. Lets take this in two parts 1. the handbag revival crowd (is this me) If I am not mistaken, and do please correct me if I'm wrong your definition of these people would be - someone who has been out of the scene for a long time and perhaps just wants to hear the same tunes they were dancing to 20-30 years ago Not someone who wants some good music once in a while or come back full onto the scene - or may be not, as the second part of your statement refers to 2. overplayed/done to death top 500 I don't know how old you are or how long you have been on the NS scene and frankly - "I don't give a damn", but let me into how it feels to be one of the revival crowd (or returnee as I prefer to refer to us). We've done our bit marrying the wrong men/women, bringing up kids, putting our careers first, all this rightly or wrongly, but for whatever reasons did not stay on the NS scene. We come back to a scene that unfortunately has people in it like yourself (and your not the first person on this forum to make similar comments) bigoted superior minded and basically up your own a*se. That over played top 500 you talk about - do you think us returnees want just to listen to what we were listening to at wigan in 73-74, no we also want to hear new discoveries but it does take time to catch up for 20 lost years, and some of this top 500 are like a comfort blanket to us until we catch up with the NOW! Other threads have dealt with the concerns over the NS scene dying off well it's hardly going to survive if people like you don't make people like me welcome. I have always thought the more the merrier - obviously not in your opinion as were not good enough for the likes of you. It is not only on this forum I have experienced this kind of superiority, was told not long ago, by a certain collector that I wouldn't enjoy a local event because they wouldn't be playing anything I knew - oh sorry am I only allowed to listen to what I listened to 30 years ago. I'll sum up how the scene could come across to some people, people maybe visiting the SS for the first time DJ's playing to DJs, "I'll show you yours if you show me mine" syndrome Bickering across the genres And that returnees are second class citizens. well maybe if it hadn't been for some of us and some of that over played 500 you talk about in the early 70s there wouldn't be a scene now. PS the QOF signature is a piss take on myself and to all the mistakes I've made in my life over the past 47 year - If you can't take the p*ss out of yourself then don't do it to others.
  12. As you say non chemically enduced paranoia - not on!!! Think best take it up with my union rep????
  13. glad to know not just me - thought my boss had got it blocked!!!!
  14. No your not!! it's the sublliminal messages again trying to take you to the other side
  15. Suppose it's a softer landing when that long forgotten back drop goes horribly wrong after more than enough encounters with mr smirnoff!!! But wouldn't my zimmer get stuck!!!
  16. Help I can hear strains of Oo-ee, oo-ee baby, Oo-ee, oo-ee baby, Oo-ee, oo-ee babe, Won't ya let me ...................... already. Mind you as long as that tune was banned - I could go for it.
  17. yeh but the dance floors are sh*te!!!!
  18. here we go again - is there no thread that is safe from the genre debate!!!!!
  19. thought he was Barry Lee?
  20. No Aretha (full stop) would suit me - do I see a can of worms being opened - hey stop throwing those stones it's just IMO
  21. I can feel a bad lyrics moment coming on "can it be that it was all so simple then or has time re-written every line if we had the chance to do it all again tell me would we" And the answer is YES. But I don't know about it being simple then, trying to get from north wales to wigan at some ghastley hour, lying to get into clubs cos you too young. Worrying about who was going to be there and was "that guy" going to notice you, were you wearing the right gear. As some wise man once said "youth is wasted on the young" or sommut like that, and as BigO said just enjoy what you like and try tolerate others taste in music (you never know you might learn somfink - i never have still an old soulie at heart but I do try) If i'd known what i know now maybe i wouldn't be the orginal QOF and if I wasn't the QOF I wouldn't be me so......................
  22. No problem with that as long as it still spins in "My Front Room" each to ther own - where I do recognise that QOF is probably not one of the greatest records ever made it's personal to me so maybe I should add to my list of records that remind me of people. Chrissieo 1958 - present Queen Of Fools - Barabara mills, reminds me of me on so many occasions over the years, and its at the FRONT of my box. Most of us have a record thqat no one else likes but for our own reasons it's special to us, and really I use it on signature as a bit of a p*ss take of myself.
  23. Alot of the threads at the moment are getting a bit serious (which I have no prob with) but thought time for a bit of fun, following on from the worst record stuff etc that I think we've done to death now and has ended up in the usual slanging match. Just been watching that "Second Chance" thing and got me thinking - A person maybe boyfriend/girlfriend from your "youth" and the record that always reminds you of them or you associate them. Will start it off with three of mine A guy called Steve Jones, The Night - Frankie Valli, about 1974 (still in my box), also took me to my first Man City game - B**t**d still support them now! Mikey Bailey - One WOnderful Moment - the Shakers early 70s sometime (think I'll look on ebay) and we're still great mates, even though he would never go out with me!! Pete White (1st husband) Band Of Gold - Freda Payne (don't think I'll bother looking for that one, we're not great mates)
  24. Best make sure the Stannah is working in May then, cos I may just take my zimmer up them stairs just to se what all the fuss is about. Is there room for my zimmer on the dance floor?
  25. Probably vocal slightly worse than the inst - but both dire
