  1. Which Wedding???? Has to be something slow that the oldies will appreciate - my choice would be Jimmy ratcliffe - Long after tonight is all over QOF XX
  2. Glad to hear that but did you sneeze at the computer as I seem to be developing a cold now. Can you transfer germs via SS? QOF XX
  3. Now I know some of you think that the many of us that dropped out of the scene in the late 70s and have returned are nothing worse than traitors but the 80s was the time many of us were doing the family thing and perhaps did not have the time or the cash to travel and go out the same as we did when we were "young, foolish and happy". Now either we are single again and/or sprogs have grown up we have more time and perhaps more cash to get out and about. QOF XX
  4. Don't know if this is of any help but read your post when I was a bit bored at work and thought, being known for ferretting out lyrics to obscure songs I would have rummage around the net. Found nothing in any of my usual sources but came up with a group called The Funky Team who record on sonet records in sweden. The two tracks that turn up in most of the searches are Disco Groovin and the Letter. Everyone is probably going yeh we know that - well I didn't so at least I've learnt sumffink today.. QOF XX XX
  5. Agree with you on that one Shania but the list of DJs has me asking Collectors or DJs We could all be great DJs if we had the dosh!!! A bit p*ssed QOF XX PS ok getting back in my box now consider myself slapped on wrist and going to play my very cheap copy of The Showmen and I don't care if I get arrested for it, I like it and still in handbag mode.

  9. I am one of the "returnees" and where the biggest thrill for me has been hearing all the new records (well new to me) over the last 12 months it is great to hear one of the old sounds i.e. OOTF, and of course QOF now and again. (I do draw the line at the snake though, didn't like it first time round). These are the tunes that brought us here in the first place and on the few occasions they do get played fill the floor, and to new comers to the scene they are still NEW, they got us stomping all those years ago and would probably have the same effect on the newbies. As a few people of said in this thread it doesn't hurt to throw the odd one in now and again as long as it's a good mix with the rarer/newer stuff I am going to an event tonight that even the promoter described to me as a night of "handbag" soul and am really looking forward to it. For a change I will know all the records and can go with some friends who aren't perhaps as die hard soulies as I am but will enjoy it, but I wouldn't want to do it every week. Well there's my tuppence I'm off to polish the soles of my shoes and practise my handbag moves for tonight. QOF XX
