  1. Feeling mischevious tonight, so have posted a link to the thread on the Manchester XFM notice board oh and emailed it to the station QoFxx
  2. Why should Mark bother, he has a perfectly good show of his own on at the same time so we all have a choice RWs "I'm A Legend In My Own Bathtime Show" on XFM or Solar on a Sunday night, ahhhh decisions, decisions . Everyone who loves the music has the right to choose what they listen to and I am sure there are loads of people who were on the scene back in the 70s who no longer come out to play are quite happy reliving their memories of what were to them "great times" of their youth but I have to agree with Paul on this, XFM is a strange vehicle for this as it is aimed at the younger market, which I think is what the original thread was about. QoFxx
  3. One question for you Why would the youngsters today behave any different than we did at there age in the 70s? Sorry mate can't see your logic . Remember we were young once QoFxx
  4. But that was then and this is now, get over it wigan is bl**dy car park and all RW has done for the last god know how many years is trade on that. ITS OVER (and strangely enough some of us even say "phew, thank god for that"), but that is not what this thread is about. My point was that Paul should not of been disappointed or surprised at the content of the show as it did what it said on the tin. It was RWs memories stories and him playing "classic cuts" to use XFMs own words. I most definitely am nearer 50 than 30 but I agree with the Paul and Baz that this sort of schmultzy nostalgia makes you just want to cringe when you hear it and young enthusiastic DJs are the way forward for the scene in the future and just because they are young does not mean that they do not appreciate good 60s soul and are going to turn the scene into one great big Disco, many of them are as anti "modern" as some of us wrinklies if not more so. QoFxx
  5. To be fair to XFM, going by your post, it did do what it said on the tin.... "Northern Soul with Russ Winstanley Join Russ every Sunday as the Godfather Of Northern Soul brings stories, memories and spins the best classic cuts." stories, memories and spins the best classic cuts........ sort of gives it away really doesn't it , the show is meant to be nostalgic, personally having read the blurb it would of convinced me not to turn on as it was obviously going to be the same old RW self adulation and twaddle, far better radio shows to tune in to on a Sunday night QoFxx
  6. When was the show Paul is referring to actually aired? I am interested to see exactly how XFM promoted the show. I.e. was it promoted as a nostalgic voyage or was it promoted as a look at the Northern Scene.....................Did it do what it said on the tin? QoFxx
  7. Watching and its past my bed time . Well it isn't a school night QoFxx
  8. I Couldn't Care Less - Carol Fredricks ..................I just love the line, "I couldn't care less if the whole wide world was to fall on you" can think of a few prospective victims QoFxx
  9. Although I listen to mostly soul and most of that "northern" I also listen to lots of other stuff, I even declare a "non soul day" now and again and listen to loads of other stuff, "Dave Shap" "Boy on a Dolphin" (or as shane calls them Kid On A Squid) Jam. Stranglers,, just what ever fits the mood really. I will now submit myself to the Soul Police for a public flogging ...................please QoFxx

  23. FIne Ken thanks See where you are coming from and on reflection maybe you are right, but have you never written anything on the spur of the mo and i think the poster of the event details probably had his tongue firmly in his cheek and just testing the water to see if it was removed or not, and i bow to your better judgement. Leave the post there, mods, cos at the end of the day the negative and sarcastic replies the post is going to get will probably do more harm than good and he would of been better off not posting it in the end. I will refer to my earlier post (the long one) it still would be good to get some feed back from the said DJs to know how they feel about the preceding episodes now KR has alledgedly admited to there being an excess of wrist bands. QoFxx & Anastasia Beaverhousen........"You say potato, I say VODKA"
  24. "Unfortunately it appears that we had more wristbands than the 1500, although it is still unconfirmed at this time". mmmm let me think, make of that what we want. caught, trousers down, so to speak, me thinks. what has really hacked me off is that after the way KR has treated our SS members someone has posted a event notice for the next KRL stoke event, and the mods have not removed it QOFxx
