  2. Well done Reg, can't wait to get a copy QoFxx
  3. Have to agree with you Bridget Great someone new posts, admits to knowing not much about NS and just because they mention wigan, which to be honest is what most people on the outside relate to the scene, people start taking this piss. Great welcome isn't it. Pete is right here, take the emphasis off Wigan and concentrate on Northern Soul. There are some great promoters in and around the Manchester areas who if couldn't help you themselves, I am sure would point you in the right direction. Try sending a PM to little-stevie or Paul Sadot, not sure of his exact name on soul source but someone will let you know, and I am sure one of them will be able to point you in the right direction. 4. This must be umptieth thread on this topic in the last year and I for one am getting very bored with it , Will people stop writing us older peeps off, hopefull we have a good few years left yet and there an loads of people on the scene in the 30-40 age group who have another 20-30 years and they will slowly be replaced by younger people and so it goes on. To be honest in 1973 -1975 how many of us thought the scene would still be as strong as it is now in 2007. I am getting very p*ssed at some of the younger soulies (14-35) thinking they are the saviours of the scene and they have a god given right to it and we should be changing to suit them. The scene has naturally evolved to where it is now over at least 40 years or more and it will keep on evolving as the younger people replace us, so lets just have natural progression and stop winging and moaning about it and enjoy Don't get me wrong, I love to see new young people on the scene (16-25) and some of the people I see also as young (30-40s) leading the way forward now with great passion and knowledge but it is not something they have achieved over night. I have loved experiencing the changes over the last 33 years I have been about but by pushing change you could kill it. Your time will come leave it to grow and evolve natuarally through time as it always has done. OK rant over QoFxx
  5. Sorted QoFxx
  6. https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/networks/6m...?6music/6m_funk The last hour of the show. Great show, brought Friday night flooding back . QoFxx

  9. But what if you collect northern soul and model trains QoFxx
  10. Now that's rarer than an original of Frank Wilson amongst us lot QoFxx
  11. I am really torn on this one, like Jo I was sneaking off to wigan at 15-16, sometimes after a 8-9 hour shift working on a hamburger stall or candy floss stall on the promonade ok not I didn't have as far to travel as Jo, and when my son was about 15-16 I would take him out to some of the places I went and I am still not sure I did the right thing, but I think when we were younger, everyone was younger....errrrrrrrrrr if you know what I mean. I am not sure I now feel it is healthy for anyone younger than 16 to be attending events. I was DJing from when I was about 14 but that was at youth clubs with young people, not people old enough to be my parent/grandparents. These youngsters like Pete, probably know far more than I know now as I was off the scene for so long, but can they please stay away till I catch up please I want to see young people out and about and enjoying what we had and being the future of the scene but I think any younger than 16 is pushing it a bit to be going to and DJing at "adult nights" on Liscence premises (not sure either how the law stands on that its changed so much since I was in the pub/club trade), and I certainly don't want people any younger than 16 on soul source or at venues I attend (apart from weekenders cos thats a bit different) for many of the reasons other people have stated earlier, some of the spats on here can get pretty hairy. ANd in answer to Pete's original question "who's gonna carry on the scene" why me of course!!!!! cos Baby look at me And tell me what you see You ain't seen the best of me yet Give me time I'll make you forget the rest I got more in me And you can set it free I can catch the moon in my hands Don't you know who I am Remeber my name Fame I'm gonna live forever I'm gonna learn how to fly High Will someone turn that bloody Kareoke machine off QoFxx
  12. While I think there is a place for this record to be played out, it should be either at the end of a set or the end of a night, as lots have said before me it's a great "uplifter" and leaves people on a high but possible does't fit in the middle of a set. only my humble opinion and what do I know QoFxx
  13. Whats really worrying is that, after over 30 years of soul nights, I am finally begining to remember what DJs have played, think I need to increase the vodka intake to prevent turnng into a QoFxx
  14. Thanks for confirming that Pete I was begining to wonder whether it was just the vodka causing me to imagine things QoFxx
  15. Bugger all Still waiting for 3 record boxes, a record, a USB cable for my phone, a lambretta fridge magnet, oh and a cheque for 152. All seems to be in the void that is the back log of post in the sorting office QoFxx
  16. We could get into the argument "does rare necessarily mean good". It is one of the few records of that genre that does fit in. IMHO Cetainly don't expect or want to hear a motown set at somewhere like the Ath and and I know it wouldn't happen but this one track just does seem to fit, don't know why. QoFxx
  17. I may be wrong and he can correct me with this but I am sure Steve G ended, or played very near the end of his set at the Ath earlier this year and it filled the floor, and if I am not mistaken I am sure Mick Smith has played it out. QoFxx
  18. Cos its a brill record and still played out by some DJs with taste QoFxx
  19. I once bid and won a record only to find out it was toby, I was alerted to this when he rang me to tell me, half and hour after the auction had finished, I had just bought a record off him and would bring the record the following week when I saw him......................it was a nice cheapie and he wavered the £3 for the reocrd as well as the postage, hence his feedback was very good, what else can you leave a seller for a free record, would of saved him the ebay fees had I known he was selling it QoFxx
  20. And it goes without saying, Karen & Rob you have my full support QoFxx
  21. perhaps its the bloke who won 16k on the lottery show and was going to spend it all on NS records and he heard you two had impecable taste and follows you around QoFxx
  22. Not true JT, some of us just stopped going in about 1975 and voted with our feet. QoFxx
  23. Where I bow to your superior knowledge on most things I can't agree with you there chalky, it is not a progression, mostly what is known as "modern" nowadays has a totally different make up to 60s stuff so how can it be a progression when it is totally different. QoFxx
