  4. Now you are just being silly, even Bearsy has better taste than that QoFxx PS To all you oldies lovers, there is nothing wrong with Judy Street but just don't want to hear it out. It was a great record in its day
  5. Steve G is one of the best and even better when he played sets like he did last time at Blue skies, no disco pure heavenly 60s. That guy hs a great collection and as awesome when playing 60s as that other stuff he sometimes plays Your just not in touch with your femanine side,.like bearsy is Mind you, bought a few nice ones recently that even you may approve of......... Anna Craig, Bernadette Peters, jackie ross x 2, and a very special Maxine Brown b side, to name jsut a few. QoFxx
  6. Only played HstJ just to wind Steve G up cos he hates it But you can't knock Terri Bryant.....surely QoFxx
  7. Siouxsie and I worked together in the mid 70s and I blame her for everything.............................................. QoFxx
  8. Well you just don't do your research into the current genres of the scene and how dare you even post on this forum if you don't know everything about every type of music ever released but as for an answer to your question, if you don't know, you just haven't felt it ..................errrrr well basically mid tempo female vocals with heart and soul, oh and I have a bit of a 60s soul pop corssover thang goin on. My last playlist may give you a hint, ignoring the youth club stuff I played of course /index.p...mp;#entry636189 QoFxx
  9. Well it must be cos jocko said i'm an ignorant pig and Barry keeps calling me "love" in a very patronising way so I can't know anything bout musak then.....can I and I should tie myself back to the kitchen sink QoFxx
  10. tut tut, its the future of NS., never mind all the youngsters filling our ears with jazzie funk or what ever they call it It's a girl thing, Bearsy understands cos he's in touch with his feminine side QoFxx
  11. Same here on xmas eve, but at least it wasn't just me, the two well respected DJs after me had the same response............Bedford just isn't ready for Mamsey Pamsey...well apart from the barmaid who thought my set was the best all night QoFxx
  12. As I appreciate your comment pete, its time to come out of the closet, I am nota die hard soulie, I love NS (preferably 60s) more than any music I have ever experienced but also decent RnB, some SKA etc but I also love other types of music including Bob Dylan, The Alarm, Jam, Clash, Boy on A Dolphin, Siouxsie & THe Banshees (who do you think christine strawberrygirl was ) Guns & Roses, Bowie, Meat Loaf, Dolly Parton, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison, Floggin Mollys, Amy Winehouse, Saw Doctors, I could go on for ever. Even was found banged to rites playing an Elvis CD the other day, I just cant get disco/modern/jazz funk. I can't get round people who think that because I don't like what they like that I am some sort of moron but the most important think is I DONT think they are morons because they don't like the non soul music I like. I just have always had the opinion that peoples music tastes differ as do their football teams and we are all entitled to our opinions. QoFxx Hey someone fetch me a tin hat
  13. and I am honoured to be in such company as Mr Smith QoFxx
  14. To be honest pete, I had never heard of him until the doco, but then thought "who is this guy" and looked into and tried to listen to quite a bit of what he had supposedly done etc and have spoken to people who were about at that time, and quite frankly if that was how it was in the 80s and early 90s I am quite pleased to know that I was doing my punk/alarm/mod thing and well away from the scene that I loved in the early 70s. People say I am narrow minded because I don't like modern soul, I say that it is them that are narrow minded for dismissing anything that isn't soul. QoFxx
  15. I rest my case my lord........ QoFxx
  16. Perhaps you should listen again to the comments he made on the said documentary. It came across as if he was throwing his teddy because he wasn't welcomed with open arms onto the northern soul scene, maybe he just wasn't a very nice person that's why he wasn't invited and believed he should of had an automatic right of passage on to the scene because he admittedly knows quite a lot about black soul music and he was black. Maybe it was his arrogance that put people off him so he didn't get invited along (I don't think I was ever invited, I just went and for many years made it a very large part of my life). I will make it clear before any one else who knows me does, I wasn't around so much in the later 80s & 90s on the scene as I was involved with other music genres, but it doesn't mean I wasn't watching from afar. There were black people on the NS scene in the 70s & early 80s who were welcomed but just maybe they were nice people. The same as there are nice white people who are welcomed onto the scene whatever their level of music knowledge is and there are not so nice white people who obviously have a great knowledge, are not welcomed by all and their arrogance and soul knowledge snobbery is what puts people off them. Also calling me a "pig" may of offended me greatly as you have never met me and how do you know I am not a Muslim, ok so maybe the avitar gives that away but I could be jewish for all you know. QoFxx
  17. Thought you would bite . How are you, are we seeing you on the 11th. QoFxx
  18. And what ever it is, modern or jazz funk its still all disco to me QoFxx
