  1. I think if you read a following post of mine you will see that I said that I do listen to modern soul at across the board nights, and do spend the odd hour or to in modern rooms. I have no prob with this as I think it is good to experience other music in the same way I will always take time to listen to Ska and RnB etc, but I still do not see funk and house as the same as modern soul................I am obviously missing the point somewhere but try as I might I can't seem to work out where. I am trying to highlight the difference of what I see as modern/disco from house and funk and to me there is a vast difference. QoFxx

and funnily enough he has won on every item he has bid on, and by the items, doesn't look like he's particularly a rare soul collector. I suspect you wouldn't of won it any way James as it seems like he has put in ridiculous amounts on every item far exceeding what they are worth, to ensure winning to stitch the account holder up. There is also only feedback for a couple of the items he has bought over the last week or so. not one of my favorite records but heh, as I have said before, each to there own. QoFxx
  3. Spot on, and I suppose that's really where my problem is, I am a lyrical kinda gal, if I can't sing along to it my feet don't work QoFxx
  4. ahhh I see not really Baz, still see it as totally different genre to me, but hey each to their own. QoFxx
  5. Well Barry might noooooooo don't post it chrissie fingers.................get off the keyboard NOW!! QoFxx
  6. The thread did interest me as I was intriguid to know what house music had to do with northern/rare soul. And if we all agreed on every thread there would be no discussion just back patting. QoFxx
  7. I think you are a bad influence on him and he must be saved before it's too late..................don't worry Bearsy, I'll save you from the clutches of the evil Disco Bunny QoFxx
  8. I must admit I have been a little forward as a girlie by watching three football matches so far this weekend and I am now watching repeats of Top Gear.........is that aloud or is it a blokes only thing Hi Si, how is my favorite little disco bunny No I shall remove my tongue firmly from my cheek, OK guys QoFxx
  9. OK Helen, Better go and do some ironing, cooking or washing up or summat while listening to one of my clash, buzzcocks or pistols albums and leave the topic of soul music to the modern soul loving members of the superior sex Thanks reminding me of my humble status QoFxx
  10. I know bugger all about modern soul and even less about house or funk or what is played in modern rooms or at modern nights but to me soul is something that grabs your heart, to some it may be more modern versions to me its 60s. You can't make yourself fall in love with a person its just the same, I can't make myself love house or funk. And since when did I have to have a vast knowledge of all things soul to be enititled to an opinion on an open forum. I think I am still allowed my opinion even if it is different to yours. QoFxx
  11. This may seem very sad to most, but I have never heard Soul Sam Djing and I probably wouldn't pay that much attention to what he was playing. Why does everyone seem to want to have open season on peole who prefer 60s soul and keep trying to hammer the point home.....it doesn't do it for me in the same way 60s does, niave, blinkered I may be to some of you but heh its just the way I am . I can't be as totally blinkered to more modern, soul as some of you think as I class "Footsteps" Womack & Womack one of my my favorite tracks of all time, but still not sure I would want to hear it played out apart from perhaps in a modern room. QoFxx
  12. Well it must be a very wide genre, where as I said in an earlier post, I have no objection to the odd hour of what I personally consider to be modern, i.e. 70s/ early 80s danceable soul, but when it comes down to electronic house or funk music I think that is something quite different. To my knowledge I have not heard House or Funk played at any of the across the board nights or modern rooms that I have been in although I may of missed it cos I don't tend to spend more than an hour in there at any one time, but this is only my personal experience. QoFxx
  13. the poo bit wasn't referring to modern as such, but to house, disco, and funk, which in my mind is somethng slightly different. QoFxx
  14. It all sounds like poo to me errrrrrrr does poo have a sound?, if not house/funk/disco would be it QoFxx Not very keen on modern either, don't mind the odd hour at an accross the board night but that's about it. Try as I might to get into it, it just doens't do it for me............................. QoFxx
  15. Go to ITV3+1 and watch the last hour of Grace of My Heart, brilliant film, QoFxx
  16. Nothing new there then QoFxx
  17. You see Martin, there are some good things that come from wales...errrrrrrrr apart from me I quite like it, not sure if it's soul though QoFxx
  18. Oh good and I will be well enough to go this time QoFxx
  19. I will own up to using frozen mash once or twice for potato cakes but NEVER NEVER would I resort to SMASH QoFxx
  20. ............and Steve G is well over 6ft QoFxx
  21. You've been peeping in my record box again Steve. This is exactly the point I made earlier. There are loads of good cheap records out there, you just have to take the time and energy to find them and if you can't be bothered to do this, you shouldn't be DJing. Can't see the attraction of just buying a ready made set of Boots etc finding them is 90% of the fun, playing them out is just an added bonus. QoFxx
