  1. How does that work then Don't you mean some disco was played and accepted at Northern nights QoFxx
  2. Something to amuse me while I'm stuck at home with my broken ankle. QoFxx PS Paul, you didn't get back to me about tickets for the charity do on the 30th
  3. All depends on the ankle injury, in a perfect world would be at Solid Hit Soull on the Firday and Marrs Bar Allnighter on the Sunday QoFxx
  4. They only exist in their own inflated egos QoFxx
  5. But if Argo is a subisd of chess and they released it surely it is just a re-release as they would of had the rights to it................not a copy I would buy or play but just interested int he semantics. QoFxx
  6. My copy is on chess so I couldn't give a F**k but just if not a proper argo release I bow to your superior knowledge was just throwing a couple of spanners.............. Still one of the greatest records ever made.......................... QoFxx
  7. How can it be a boot when it was released by a subsidiary of chess.......................a re-issue yes but not a boot Still think it shouldn't be played out but not a boot as it was a legal copy. QoFxx
  8. Wikipedia:- Leonard Chess bought a stake in a record company called Aristocrat Records in 1947; in 1950 Leonard brought his brother Phil into the operation and they became sole owners of the company and renamed it Chess Records. In 1952 the brothers started Checker Records, as an alternative label for radio play (radio stations would only play a limited number of records for any one imprint). In December 1956 they launched a jazz label called Marterry, which was quickly renamed Argo Records. Argo changed its name in 1965 to Cadet Records to end confusion with an older British classical music label named Argo. QoFxx
  9. Was her brother an antique dealer in East Anglia QoFxx
  10. Came across a group called the Red Saunders Research Foundation who are conducting research on chicago record labels chess included they have only reached about 1958 at the moment but have emailed them to see if they have any info, well it's better than doing any real work QoFxx
  11. You could be right there, I did offer to buy it off him a couple of years ago but I couldn't sell enough body parts to raise the money QoFxx
  12. /Joy-Lov...emo#entry782322 QoFxx
  13. One of my favourite records of all time ..................but I think you would of probably guessed that by now steve as I play it nearly every Blue Skies and a very special personal one. I do know of one demo QoFxx
  14. I will resist on the Holly just for you but you may get both sides of Liz coz in true female style I can't make up my mind on which side i prefer and at that price I want to get the full value , I will leave you to play Rozetta cos I can't enjoy it as much if I am playing it QoFxx
  15. Well it would be preferable ............Steve may have a point but my argument is that he tarred all such events with the same brush. I don't give a monkeys as long as I have a good night out..... and just because it is a charity event doesn't mean the standard of the sounds will not be up to scratch I feel very proud that I have the quality of DJs offering to play at my birthday not only free but paying to go in as well QoFxx
  16. That reminds me toby, you haven't paid for your tickets yet See later post that says "OK so the DJs are free but that's what friends are for". QoFxx
  17. I can see where you are coming from but maybe steve should of been a little more careful wording of his thread and not tar all charity events with the same brush by making such a sweeping statement................... .......and I certainly don't want to be seen as noble just someone who saw an opportunity to help people, like many people do tirelessly all the time, not me by the way as I am quite rubbish at it but I do try and raise about £500 every year for this local charity and dont really care how I do but I will admit it is somewhat selfish because it is helping a charity that is supporting Tony & I through his illness and their support is crucial to both of us. QoFxx
  18. I know but it did feel a little that way . I know Jayne wasn't having a go at me but think I clicked on her post to reply to instead of someone elses.............sorry Jayne. QoFxx
  19. I am paying £200 for the venue myself so 100% of what is raised will be going to the charity OK so the DJs are free but that's what friends are for. QoFxx
  20. As someone who is currently promoting a charity event for my 50th I find your post offensive. It is my 50th and also my ex husbands 50th, he is still a dear friend and he is suffering with Motor Neurones disease and I saw it as an opportunity to raise some money for a good cause. I am paying for the venue and any other expenses and the DJ line up is not just so I can DJ. adn not to promote a venue, this is purely a one off !!!!!!!! I don't think you will find that Steve G, Paul McKay, Hammie, Molly, Pete Robinson, Woody, Toby, Pete Tebutt, Taffy, Bearsy, Lou, Martin or Steve Bish are desperate for spots either. I am suprised that you think like this Steve I wonder what the organisers of SOULGATE will think to your comments QoFxx
  21. Not sure of matrix but if the artist name is larger than the title then re-issue and the re-issue is smaller font than the original............I think but someone may prove me wrong, there was another thread about it end of last year when more knowledgeable peeps than I posted with scans of various copies. QoFxx
  22. I would of still complained QoFxx
  23. You wont be at Danny's birthday party then To be fair Terry, I don't think the promoters of all local venue's should be tarred with the same brush. You often see Hammie out and about, Taffy attends a large amount of local venues, as do Pete Tebbutt and Sean Chapman and you can't go anywhere without bumping into Toby .......but I do sort of know what or who you are getting at QoFxx
  24. A big fave of mine, top toon. QoFxx
