  3. So people who like 60s are dullards then QoFxx
  4. So are you saying that everyone who likes something different from you are Dullards, whether what they play is OVO or not? This thread isn't about peoples taste in music but about the format it is played on. Very sweeping statement Simon QoFxx
  5. Steve can play what he likes where he likes, he has diverse enough collection to be able to do so and just because you prefer modern he doesn't have to play that everywhere he DJs and is not sellng his (modern) soul by playing 60s and when he does play modern I assume you aren't the only person there so he doesn't have to play just what Simon wants. Steve has a love of modern and probably a collection that many modern DJs would sell their grandmother for, he can also put an amazing 60s set together which is what he does for us at Blue Skies because, hey what, its a 60s night..................seems to make sense me thinks my little disco bunny. As for your constant jib at MP its getting a little boring, the term was started as a bit of a joke and if you don't like 60s female power tunes then fine, I don't like disco but I don't keep slagging it off, maybe the odd dig in fun but you are begining to sound like a broken record, if you get my meaining. This thread is about the playing of OVO whether it be 60s, Modern or even MP not about your opinion of what I play and collect or more so what Steve plays. I have a limited budget and can't afford to collect a wide range so have concentrated on a niche and that suits me and happens to be my biggest love, 60s power female vocals, and guess what...........you don't have to listen to it. Lets get back on topic. Which venues play OVO and which venues do waver this. QoFxx
  6. Peggy MARCH QoFxx
  7. Glad to see you and Taffy have found something to amuse you and keep you out of naughtiness QoFxx
  8. Think I paid less than that for mine earlier in the year, just proves quality doesn't have to be expensive and I think it was in the 2008 MP top 100, play it out quite often QoFxx
  9. Carol Fredricks - I Couldn't Care Less (If the whole world fell on you) Honey Cone - The Day That I Lost You (Was the day I found myself) QoF
  10. You can find it here Mr M /Bit-Fun...sey#entry786975 The final 2008 top 100 is on post 190 QoFxx
  11. It's not your fault you've got no taste, do you even know what it is and the top 100 wasn't decided by me it was contribution of lots of other SS members so they all must be wrong.......................I still reckon it's cos I din't put Donna Summer isn't in there QoFxx
  12. ........errrrrrr and you are bragging about it QoF
  13. Hey, don't knock it till you've tried it SImon is just bitter cos there are no disco divas in the current MP top 100 QMPxx
  14. Totally agree, well put QoFxx
  15. If you avoid me you will avoid Mamsey Pamsey cos I is the one and only QMP, quite easy Si ............but it is all OVO MP QoFxx

  17. I can see your dilema and feel the younger DJs should be encouraged but rather than them playing boots/pressings etc shouldn't they be furthering ther "soul" education by scouring ebay/sales lists for the great cheapies that are out there some of them long forgotten and putting sets together from these, which can be done. Isn't the hunting down and finding of these records for themselves part of the "growing" process and if they stick at it they wont they earn far more respect from the soul scene? Think of it in 10 years time and 2 of these younger DJs are still behind the decks and the conversation could be something like this:- "DJ A is really good but you know he plays boots/pressings" or would they rather hear someone say "DJ B is really good, you know he really has built up a great collection over the years, started off by hunting down good cheapies and built from there". Would people have more respect for A or B and would A be respected in the same way in the future even if he finally did build up a collection of originals? As you say it is also a motown night there is a host of affordable 60s motown tracks out there which would fit in with this sort of eve without going down the commercial motown route. There is no need to play boots and pressings these young DJs just need to have the belief in there own ability to recognise a good record without just playing boots/pressing of what the bigger DJs are playing. 18. I think I will leave that one to the promoter to respond to, I am sure he will be far more eloquent than I possibly could be and also beg to differ. QoFxx
  19. I am also a punter who cares. How many times have you been to a do or read a play list when someone has played a record and a lightbulb goes off in your head thinking, "so and so DJ playing a certain record and you no dammed well they haven't got the original" and as you also said play list with bogus labels listed. If you are absolutely certain someone has played a boot or re-issue at a venue it should be featured in the feedback of said venue. QoFxx
  20. Would it be to much to just accept that he just didn't like it, maybe it didn't do it for him. Everyones taste is personal to them and just because someone doesn't agree with you that they are not necessarily wrong or right but expressing their own personal view.............god forbid ....................now what was it you called Dave Rimmer, A facist was it mmmmmmmmmmmm pots and kettles me thinks........but of course that's only my opinion QoFxx
  21. In your opinion..................I am not judging your work with this but at the end of the day Ian, the above statement, is only your opinion of your work. QoFxx
  22. See my above post. He is perhaps being a bit bitchy but hardly disgusting and hateful diorrhoea. Maybe he feels he has the same complaint about the person who always posts positive comments about your work. QoFxx
  23. I think it is down to the promoters, surelybefore booking a DJ they would have some background to their reputation, and if they suspect boots etc they should not book them. The responsibility lies with the promoter to ensure thier DJs play OVO, if that is there policy. On a previous comment, not one of your Steve, it is stupid to assume that all allnighters are OVO and all soulnights allow other formats, this is not so, I know of many nights that only allow OVO and the punters wouldn't attend if anything else was on offer and as Steve said some nighters where boots, re-issues have been in evidence. QoFxx
