    This is a piece of class xover,but at the back end of xover at 1972,anything after this becomes “modern”

    For me xover is the change is sound leading out of the 60’s into 70’s,mainly the music itself,not the singing! But anything after say 1972 ish for me is “modern”

    Capitals is a shockingly hard record,especially on the never seen green issue! I sold my white demo a few years back,i wonder if you bought it from me?

    Great info and insight guys,as i suspected,mine was in all likeliness a boot of soughts! i also had at the same time a 6” audiodisc of patrice Holloway-for the love of mike,thats was probably fake too! since these two,ive stayed away from acetates! They arent worth the worry unless they have concrete provenience! thanks for your insights people!

    Sorry mate i dont have a pic,robbed it off popsike from when i sold it! i cant imagine there being 2 different labelled jobete acetates?

    Jm has listed an acetate of “lonely boy” on his auction,and it got me wondering about a copy i had and sold in 2004! Pic below! also mine had jimmy ruffin-gotta let you go,on the back on it! i suspect mine wasnt real? thoughts? Mine looks completely different to the one on jm’s

    Jesus wept…betty wilson,cracking tune,but nearly 3.5 bags the sy hightower looks like a reasonable price? Im not big on my xover,but compared to other shockers,this looks like a steal?

    I think i had your copy some years back? Of all the rare records ive had,this one is right up there with the impossibles! Especially the unicorn rare green issue!

    Id agree with you mate, 3.5k,and im basing that on the quality of the tune,it being mint, and it being moderately rare!

    £1264 for turley richards there really are some of the biggest divvys on this scene ive ever seen! Surely to god most of the pillocks paying these amounts come onto soul source and see these comments and think “s**t..i really am stupid”

    Ebay is cheap to sell on now! Only sell when you get the “one pound” seller fees promotion,which is often when you start listing regularly,ebay now pay direct into your bank account so NO paypal fees! however if you dont want the hassle of selling,drip feed handfuls at a time to derek mead at soulmine! He sells online and at events,aswell as his 2 record shops “soulmine” and “beatin rythym”He still does the old fashioned way of posting a list with a cd too,which helps to sell the cheap and lesser knowns!

    My old mate jim smirk(rip) had this on a 45 with white label and handwritten title,small hole,and im sure ady croasdale gave it to him in the 90’s,possibly was gonna be a kent single or sumet?

    Ive always rated the tune,i think its a cool tune whether your a northern fan or not,ive played it to mates whom are into indie guitar music and they love it! interestingly,as rare as it is,ive had 3 copies of this all in mint condition!

    Dont know the answer to the question,but i must say im so use to hearing the george smith version that the g chandler sounds way to pacey! Almost like its chasing after itself!

    The voices of fred hughes-i keep trying and al hughes-take it or leave it,sound very similar to me,could it be that they are the same person,or related? Maybe brothers? lee

    This is a first! No replys! I suppose this weeks offerings is a mediocre set of records,nothing there to create a frenzy of opinions although….i do love the ambassadors 45,and it has to be one of the rarest of the oldies that i would normally say was in the 400/500 quid bracket! So to see it nearly hit the 1k mark is a tor curler! Must be cos its mint?

    Dont know if your aware,but “i’ll be gone” is on both releases of 2 45’s by tommy turner! “Lady” is the cheaper way and the other 45 “lazy” is much rarer and expensive!

    I think with jm’s being the most prominant auction site,the poor bloke cant do right for wrong! If he simply auctioned the ELITE records he would get it in the neck for only catering the wim of the wealthy,and if he simply auctioned every day 45’s he would lose the respect he has earnt over the years,so in the end id say he has the balance right! He caters for everybody! He really isnt to blame for pillocks paying double for 45’s that dont warrant these amounts!

    Youll be extremely lucky to get a copy through the back door! I suspect Top end shrine records are gonna end up in the auction process these days! And peter is right! Ive seen that record maybe 4 times,And never seen a mint one,but there are nice clean copies in collections!
