  1. Some nice pieces on there, and of course not a bargain in sight..larry santos etc! but i have to say the cavaliers 45,xxxxxxxxxxxxhat is the worst record ive ever heard! The guitar is out of tune,it sounds like a practise run but they said xxxxxx it that'll do! I dont know whats worse the fact some clown has paid 911 quid for it,or the group for releasing an appaulling song on a astonishingly bad recording session! All the band must have been pissed or on something! Bad is to kinda word for that record!
  2. I really like it,its like ABBA with guitars, which i must add i cant stand ABBA! But this version is very good! I wouldnt call it heavy metal though! More garage band sounding!
  3. Off the cuff thought! But why ESPECIALLY in the oldies climate, why does “shook me up” seem to command a lot more money than “crackin up” i personally dont think either are particularly rare either demo or issue! But the shook me up is a dated sound of the Stafford era records that have fallen by the way side, whereas cracking up is top class northern soul and a top oldie! I would think shook me up should command a lot less than cracking up personally?
  4. I thought the answer was obvious and well documented that a chap who reguarly visited a record shop in london was taking soul records up north in the early seventies because the kids were playing soul in the clubs, and he or the record shop owner said “call it NORTHERN SOUL” this is before the likes of the casino etc...
  5. All these insane prices wont matter in the end,cos nothing lasts for ever, and half these records wont sound half as good with little or no value! Funny how value makes something sound better
  6. Credit where its due, johns auctions are certainly the most varied of the auctions,he caters for all levels of collector and dj! As for the money side, well he aint about to turn his nose up at it,its a business with wages to pay! it aint is problem that people of stupid!
  7. Inspirations the only catch on there for me, and well worth the money for raritie and quality, the rest i wouldnt miss! but 1k for f beverly is beyond the pale! What a bunch of plonkers!
  8. Surely his “love really hurts without you” is more “northern” than the red light! I recall youth club days and at the local disco if someone said “put some northern on” it was “love really hurts without you” invariably came on!
  9. I have an unsettling feeling that its gonna be true!
  10. That cant be right! A bag of sand for the drifters!
  11. Gee white label with black lettering!
  12. Yeah mercury label certainly likes its garage/soul acts!
  13. You know what mate, i was expecting a white fella! Burning bush has that blued eyed feel to it! But then again before the power of the internet i thought jimmy radcliffe was white too
  14. I agree....this is the dullest bit if of trivia ive read today..so far! kiddin mate,im always interested in the beginnings of artists and the songs! Nice one Pic of the lp?
  15. Never had or heard of it! Maybe it has an overlooked b side?
  16. Bloody rare on that red issue though! Only seen it a couple if times before!
  17. Im sure i had a boot of this in the early 80’s
  18. Considering all the traditional “northern soul” tunes have gone through the roof, the donald lee richardson looks cheap now at 250 quid! I wish id had a punt on it now! the johnny meastro isnt cheap considering a handful of mint demos have been floating around at 700 quid!
  19. 5k for one and 7k for the otherwell why not
  20. On the grand scheme of things this was a flippin bargain!
  21. Never even seen one of them! Is it same label as arin demain?
  22. Ive just checked on popsike, and i sold a vg+ copy in august 2017 and got £2k for it! I do think 7k is excessive!
  23. Although that albert george song is bloody obcure,i wonder how there can be another version of it?
  24. Certainly a start! Shouldnt be to difficult to trackdown the tune now!
  25. So is the 3rd one a version of albert george soul baby?
