  1. The music is certainly interesting and a level of invention in there, the vocals suit the song too,it’s more Scott walker to my ears then anything else as it has been posted on soul source it will get criticised as a soul record or not? But as a piece of work I think it’s a good effort,it’s original, what market it sits in well who knows! So much music in the world,it’s gotta be hard to stand out!
  2. Given the prices on his old man’s site it ain’t so ridiculous Also there was a newspaper article with a picture of him holding the record and stood next to a Ferrari and it stating he had paid 100k for the record, sure it was early last year?
  3. I think when I read about it last year he had paid £100k for it?
  4. I wonder if he will take £149500 for it?
  5. It’s got to be the ramona Collins with the intro
  6. When I got into northern I was much younger than most of the already fans, the ex casino attendees etc…and I got into collecting the records in the same way they did which was boots and compilations, which naturally ended up being obsessed for the originals! And in all these years I don’t think that has changed, any younger fans in the scene now and coming in will go exactly the same way as we all did in my opinion! It’s inevitable!
  7. I’ve messaged the seller, but there is no option for public viewing?
  8. I would have thought the desire to be a dj specifically of northern soul you would WANT to play original records, the second issue/boots scenario I can see ending up in YouTube streaming or spotify,or something as stupid as that? In all my years I’ve never known one person who would be happy to go to a soul nite or all-nighter where the djs are playing seconds/boots,I think it’s the collectors and djs that drive the scene equally as much as the punter.
  9. I also notice it is in the track listing of a destiny lp from 1980,so it must have been a well known tune even by 1980,oddly though the blue sharks is on the lp too?
  10. I think to cherish the tradition of the northern soul dj it has to be absolute,no bending,no excuses, play the original record or stay at home!
  11. Personally I think because of its rarity (not sure of how many copies, but not many) whatever the seller wants I would imagine it will be near as damn it! If the seller doesn’t have a figure, you may wanna get the most recent valuation out of jm’s guide and work from that! sorry can’t say a figure. ps isn’t this tune the same as the Kell Osborne on Loma but with different words? If it is,save yourself thousands and get that
  12. Don’t know about the Anderson bros, but the carol and gerri, just think if I knew I was selling to the northern soul crowd (the most likely to buy it) I would take pics of the whole record showing both sides to offer a level of confidence,no excuse in this tech age! in his defence his feedback is impressive? Shame if it turns out to be a bunch of scam records!
  13. Well I never! What a much easier and cheaper way to have the tune, well done to you both for enlightening me! No chance getting a mr luckey, but this is a very close second!
  14. And I suppose if we are talking rarest issues(stocks) without demos and other permutations then I suppose the top end shrine stuff is in here..the counts..prophets?
  15. Very rare issue indeed, but the fact it has a palmer release takes the shine off a little
  16. Very small amount of issues, and such a small amount it hasn’t had any effect on the overall value of this quality rare item!
  17. Majestics and dynamics a very reasonable amount! construction is a tidy sum, must admit it’s not an oldie that rears its head often! all the rest seem about right I reckon?
  18. Women pay anything for a handbag or shoes,us blokes do the same with records
  19. I don’t think any have turned up,just simply a cashing in scenario in recent years I’ve only seen Johnny maestro on sceptre, the tempos on diamond Jim and doc Peabody turn up in rather frequent amounts and all mint! but I suppose this is always gonna happen with so many northern, xover, and modern 45s!
  20. Yes your correct, however the orange issue doesn’t have the fault? equally I’ve had a few USA issues and demos and none of them shared this fault, just seems to be on the uk demo! I think the point is that these days is that the price is dictated by popularity not rarity
  21. Yeah I reckon 80% of what is popular is certainly not rare, just expensive, which then gives the illusion they are rare!
  22. Also the 2 two yellow uk demos, whilst were both mint, they both had a jump in the exact same spot halfway through the song!
  23. I don’t think it’s rare at all,but like most of the popular oldies they are becoming less and less available! I personally in the last 10 years have had 3 green issues,2 white demos,2 yellow uk demos, but never had the orange issue to which I would say is the rarest format! And for me the tune is always in my top 10…love it!
