  1. Yeah that would be interesting if he can say who wrote it etc…
  2. Could be that the others have led from that one then! I suppose the servicemen version must have felt like a bold jump back in the day!
  3. Jesus wept that is a serious number for carol anderson,im not doubting the quality of the tune or the fact it doesnt turn up very often! I honestly thought this was a 500 to 700 quid tune!
  4. What a good ear and good eye for spotting these out! it seems that the four versions so far are nothing alike musically, and even different titles! But carry the same set of lyrics and similar vocal phrasing! i wonder who wrote the blasted song then?
  5. The writers on both versions are different,so someone is full of dung
  6. Yeah just seen a 45 on ebay thee midniters are you angry, and i thought surely not the servicemen tune! So headed over to youtube and its a slow boring rendition! But i wonder which came first! and i agree…they seem to cover every song going
  7. The servicemen -are you angry is in my top ten northern monsters, but ive just noticed a slow version by thee midniters(which i dont like at all) so how many versions? who recorded and released it first? lee
  8. The tune caught my ear,cos i love group soul stuff, especially with sparce production, but lyrically it put me off,and now i know the group and title, its not something i could enjoy over and over again! Gospel aint for me no matter how good the tune is!
  9. I bet ebay seach bar is busy at the moment
  10. Which 45 do you refer to?
  11. You know what it is? Cmon loosen them lips and sink some ships
  12. Well it wasn't me but i fear i may have unwittingly encouraged a sale
  13. Slightly off topic, you mention denise laselle a love reputation, ive just noticed that her version on tarpon is different from the chess release? No girl backing on the chess release! The tarpon release is closer to the “just like the weather” version!
  14. Thats kinda my thoughts,if one is expected to buy the 45 covered up without an opportunity to satisfy ones own research and curiosity, then your gonna be cheesed of if you then discover its a bside to a 5 quid record thats been over looked,or worse you then uncover it and then you see it on ebay every 5 minutes for next to nowt!
  15. I dont want the record in question, and i dont mean to single out rarenorthernsoul.com,ive just pondered this over a many year as to how people go on buying c/ups! It seams to me that once a dj has tired it out then he/she may aswell uncover it and sell it? Let other collectors/djs seek it out?
  16. Very well put my friend, just to add though,im not considering buying the tune, although i can see how i made it look that way! Its just a thought ive had for many a year on the process of buying a cover up!
  17. Im curious,if a potential buyer of a c/u,does he have to sign a secrets act document or something, cos if i was buying a c/u regardless of price i would want to know what it is first so i can do my own research! But then we are in the realms of “loose lips sinks ships” this tune in question (which is superb) its a lot of money on a (dont know who it is)?
  18. I think it would be almost impossible to replicate that 45,styrene with ink jet label!
  19. Late 80’s at great yarmouth weekender….chuck jackson, ray pollard especially stood out for me amongst the many acts!
  20. I must say ive never been attracted to any of the vocal versions, and if rob Thomas’s version is a couple of hundred quid,i would possibly stretch another hundred maybe for the cwatson version purely cos its rarer, not cos its any better! But all said and done i much prefer the tune as an instrumental (men from macon) and its what a five quid record?
  21. Im on my way,or the snake?
  22. Thats the bugga nice one, what a tune, thanks my mate,i can nick it off youtube now…until the 45 appears
  23. No not this, but a great choice, ive not heard this before now
