  1. The records and turntables are still there! It's just putting the records on in the right order!
  2. Ian Clak has one on his latest list reference Deadbeats on Strata £600- ianclarkmusic.com
  3. Been after one of these for years! top tune! after you have one can I be the next in line!
  4. I agree with all that has been said- the main thing is time as this is the most valuble thing you can give anything! By having help from others you probably won't get as much in money terms but you will be free to use your time as you please. Some people love the social thing of selling tunes if that's your bag then do it yourself, if not get the pro's in!
  5. I would like the Hytones if you still have it- I can paypal you or let me know- all the best from Matt
  6. Used to love these nites run by Johnny & Beccy Rolfe- the weekend certainly started here. I'll always be thankful for Mr & Mrs Rolfe for letting me play a few tunes to start the nites off and for some of the tunes Johnny sold me over the years on the way in! I met loads of friends for the very first time at this venue , too many to name just now but they know who they are- a great social occasion with a wide spread of tunes thrown in!
  7. My first allnighter, I often would ride over on my scooter after going out in Bristol to Racquels by the ice rink. Great mix of tunes played there, got me into so many different tunes of the time, always remember everybody shuffling to the likes of Cheryl Berdell etc and Dennis Lee winning the dance comp! great to see so many of the old crowd still going to soul nites up and down our wonderful land! Andy Hutchins, Steve Green, Chris Harvey and myself put on a all dayer at the Bath's Yate in the late 8t's (maybe early 9t's my minds going!)- remember some of the Dj's from the night i.e Dave Thorley, Gary Spencer, Edwin (Blackwood), ourselves etc- sorry too long ago to remember everyone- happy times.
  8. I'm not a great lover of funk however now and again I hear a tune which will make me want to dance. I don't mind hearing different gendres on the scene as long as they are good and worth listening to. I think for many years the scene has gone in different directions to keep the numbers coming through the doors, I'd hate the scene to die all together and if it helps then carry on.
  9. rare old thing but in this day and age I will be suprised if the seller gets anywhere near its asking price! better off getting the local label and spending the rest on sherbert pips and ginger beer!
  10. Good job it's still not £30 or we would still be in the world of light ale and mullets! lol
  11. Top News, well deserved
  12. Cool Off- The Detroit Executives- nice tune terrible lyrics- 'you wanna make a blind man want to do this'!!! I was blind buying the thing in the first place
  13. Great post Mike, I like you, as you know, have been into the scene for about the same time span, I too loved the days of Yate, Stafford etc and loved hearing the new tunes as I do today. I've never left the scene since I started in the late 7t's and now and again I get blown away by a tune I haven't heard before. What I search for these days is having a great night, out as I regularly do and finding a quality new tune to listen to. I find it harder to hear new tunes of the quality of bygone days but that is understandable due to the knowledge of the scene etc. The scene however is not only about the music as my friends old and new, are also a major force as I love to drive miles across our promised land to meet up with top people with similar tastes. It beats staying in a place you don't belong in!
  14. I agree top tune- money shouldn't come into it- great soulful record to dance to up and down our wonderful land!
  15. 'Back Home' by the England World Cup Squad!
  16. Is it possible for you (Vince) and Bearsy to hold a water pistol to my head because I'm sure I would get the message! Then I can get on with another hobby such as sharing a hot tub with my relatives!
  17. Great tune- Si Preston's been playing it regularly down the Railway in Bournemouth- should get more plays- quality 7t's
  18. Jamie Oliver I am not so should I put the record in a bag first before boiling, like I do my fish?
  19. 2 on ebay at the moment on contempo
  20. look forward to seeing you both at Bridgwater as always
  21. I'm humbled- you too mate- look forward to seeing you at a venue soon
  22. Dear Ken yes great bunch of soulies in Plymouth- I have been to many soul nites down there over the years, alot of people from the area travel to other soul nites further north and their dedication is second to none. Always a good amount at the Bridgwater, Exeter , Weston Super Mare and Gloucester nites and further north than this. You'll love it !- all the best and keep the faith from Matt (Trowbridge, Wilts)
  23. I Try to get to as many venues as possible whether DJing or not- enjoy the whole social event. Always good to hear what other people are playing out. Can't dance as much the older I'm getting- end up talking more! You can enjoy nites in different ways. Better always than staying in!
  24. I paid £100 for mine- often play it out as it's a guaranteed floor filler! not so easy to find these days as in demand- best of luck!
