  1. stuck some of mine on one of my record boxes- memories of many happy days!
  2. I remember giving a record to someone and then seeing it in his sales box a couple of months later! I suppose he was telling me to improve my taste! never mind it hasn't stopped me giving the odd record out to fellow soulies! I think its a great thing they have at Bridgwater Soul Nites where they have a recycling table, often soulies will bring various items to do with our wonderful scene and leave them on the table for others to take away and use!
  3. dean I agree Dean- top tune- it always goes for big dosh! would be nice to hear it out more often! hope to see you at Go Go on Saturday mate!
  4. Richard Berry's 'Have love will travel' is often a popular choice reference one of the titles
  5. It will be predictable for me with 'Time will pass you by' Tobi Legend. Away from Northern Soul I heard a story on Radio 4 when I guy arranged for the conveyer belt to stop on the way through to being burnt, everybody at the funeral gulped and then the 'Hamlet' tune played! total quality!!!
  6. I know it's not at the weekend but next Tuesday evening the greatest team in the west is at West Ham Utd!!!
  7. I went to the Jamaica Club events- happy days- didn't you have to walk through a scrap yard to get in? I remember meeting up with Ken Dunn and the other Gloucester Mods there. I also remember Pete French's Wheelwrights nite at the cattle market in Gloucester, always advertised in Black Echoes after Brady beat! Bought a few records off of Pete there, still have a couple of Major Lance Demo's in my collection, funny how you remember where you bought certain items! long time ago now but great to be seeing so many of the same faces at events today- ktf
  8. Nothing wrong with boots but I don't like to hear them played out at events. The originals often cost far too much to own. Before CD's buying boots was one of the only ways you could play your favourite tunes at home whilst dancing round the kitchen! I don't tend to buy boots unless they are cheap at a bootsale and you can sell them on to fund my addiction for originals! There are so many good compilation CD's which can be bought easily today to be heard at home.
  9. Lowest price on popsike is £21 sold this year, highest price is £65. I paid about £25 which I think is fair but It took some finding on a 7. Another track which is listed really low and is really hard to find on a 7 is Laura Lee's 'Your Song' on Fantasy. I had a search on ebay for 4 years before I got a VG copy for £10! I suppose it was the 12 that sold in numbers. With quality 7t's tunes like this and Randy Brown I suppose alot may be in collections.
  10. No- If a job's worth doing it's worth doing well!!! Plenty of great originals at low prices if cost is an issue! The people who pay on the door deserve to hear original recordings!

  13. I bought a Vernon Harrell 'Slick Chick' (Lescay) single off of Francoise Ferlin (Thompson) on the 11th August. I received good communication and received the single in good time. The item was well packaged. I haven't left feedback as I haven't a clue how you do it on Soul source! I hope this clears up the matter as I found the seller good to deal with. I hope the problem can be sorted out between 'soulsunny' and 'thompson'
  14. Top draw Neil- received my book the other day! well worth a look - totally recommended to anyone who hasn't yet seen a copy!

Great to see Mr Cornock on live radio- let's hope he doesn't get above himself and start going under the name of the 'Hairy Cornflake'! well done mate keep the faith from Matt
  17. I have one but I will never sell it as it's such a great record. I always remember Johnny Rolfe at the Hilsea soul nites having one for sale in his box for £300 and this was in the mid eighties, at the time I didn't buy it. It took me a long time to find another copy as Johnny had sold his, which I paid £250 for but it's not mint, I'd say Excellent minus. I bought this in about 2000 and since have never seen many go through the auctions.
  18. Have you still got the Vernon Harrell, Slick Chick for sale- if so how much? all the best from Matt
  19. Most of the time if you have a Manship's bootleg guide you can suss out if it's a boot or not. If i'm unsure I'll ask the seller and if they are dishonest you can send the item back and get a refund or if not report the seller to ebay. I've bought boots in the past to have the sound to play at home or put on a CD for my own enjoyment, never to play out at a venue in a spot. However recently I've been to a few venues where boots have been played and in large halls they often sound terrible! I'm not gonna mention names of Dj's etc but I wish they'd just play cheaper originals if they can't afford the real deal. I'd much prefer to hear a copy of the Dells 'Make Sure' than a booted copy of a track like Lou Pride , Salvadors etc. ktf
  20. The joy of collecting records is in getting the bargain and searching through loads of tunes to achieve this. We've all been there in record shops, at boot sales or at the village fete! On ebay it's really hard to get big bargains as we're all chasing that elusive tune! I think it's sad what Vince has expierienced as he had the bargain and now it's being taken from him! I can understand the guy has made an error in selling it but that's the way it is sometimes, you can't win them all! ktf and please don't go to the same bootsales I do! lol
  21. Funny I was chatting to Woody about it at Mick Lloyds last Worcester do and he told me the story of how he bought it- you have both great taste and I look forward to hearing it out soon- try to hear his spot next Friday in Worcester- all the best and ktf
  22. One's just gone through ebay- rare old tune- great sound!
  23. It's in my top 5 and I've been looking for one for ages, it brings back happy memories from the 8t's when Gary Spencer used to play it I think, my mind is a little mushy now so I may be wrong! Anyway at that time I bought a boot of the record which I think is still rare. I know a few people who have the record on Southern Artists but the Bell copy is more desireable. This copy went for too much in my opinion but the book price is low considering its rarity to other records. I will still look out for the original on either label as I think it's a tremendous tune. It's great to read all these comments on the record and that not all are tastes are the same!
