  1. What a great topic. I agree with loads of these suggestions particularly the ones that say "there are so many to choose from" Lots of votes for Linda Jones and I'd happily go with that one. Bob mentioned Patty Hamilton and she is also up there for me along with Wendy Rene (but not BBQ)
  2. Can't believe that comment about Otis. The Blue album is one of the finest albums ever made and his covers of Sam Cooke & The Stones are even better than the originals. Anyway this album was made before hippies knew about him.
  3. When I saw this post I was expecting to hear the Italian female version by Mina - it's called La cotta vuota which I think was/is a biggie on the popcorn scene. Have never heard this male version but I'm sure there's another female version in Spanish. Great beat ballad from Pomus Shuman who wrote 100's of songs from the soundtrack of my youth.
  4. Jato Von Dell Just A Few Steps Down The aisle - Gregory Patti & Emblems Gonna Love You A Long Long Time
  5. I'm reading this in my lunch break and I can't believe that all these people have the time (or the inclination) to analyse a bit of fiction. Would any other group of people start nit-picking about a tv programme FFS. Get a life!! BTW - did I imagine it or did I see a pye disco demand sleeve in the prog?
  6. 2 that I've loved since the 60's - neither of which are "soulful" but great northern Mitch Ryder - Breakout Four Seasons - Opus 17 - and one I never heard till 70's and I'll never tire of it - Al Kent - Way you been acting
  7. I know that Autographs 45 went for $76 but to me it is priceless. I also didn't pay a lot for my copy, in fact my snipe was way way higher than what I ended up getting it for. When I started collecting again 12 years ago after a break of 6 years this was the one that was top of my wants list and is still in my all time top 20. Good luck with your search!
  8. Thanks for the reply - I couldn't find it on that format & just wanted to make sure.
  9. Can anyone tell me whether "I'm looking for a girlfriend" ever came out on 45. Many thanks
  10. Based on the weather in west of Scotland yesterday it would have have been Storm Warning by Ambassadors/Volcanos (Arctic) I would have preferred Cool Summer Night by Intentions on Uptown
  11. My dream record is Lynn Terry - Good Thing Going. I know I'll never own one but it's still my ultimate want. The thing that I can't figure out though is why I like it so much. It couldn't be described as soulful but I guess it's just a superlative example of 60's girly sound.
  12. Should that not be £185?
  13. Some brilliant tracks on here. I'm sure that bb's will have their day again. 2 of my long time raves are: Donald Jenkins Somebody help me John Bowie. Never felt so lonely
  14. Good post Matt - that's the bottom line - the promoters can get who they want to DJ. I personally don't like to see the same DJ's month in month out at the same venues (and usually the same core playlist) - but no one forces me to go. I would rather have a night where the DJ's play imaginative sets and predominantly 60's for me but if I can,t get that I usually make do with what the promoters are offering. I'd still rather go to a less than perfect soul night than sit at home complaining that the DJ''s don't play my records.
  15. There's one on Anglo American new list
  16. On you tube there is a IYSMB with Irene. I'm just wondering which is the original or are they both Real
  17. I've just discovered that this has been pressed on a look alike. There was one on ebay with "Hotpoint Music" under the 45rpm which sold for $1200 and there is one on youtube with "Irene Music" under the 45rpm. Were ther 2 different label formats or is one a repress?
  18. I've been after a Girly Group thing on Laurie for many years. Does anyone know how much it is or even better where is one for sale. It's Julie & The Desires - Kiss And Tell
  19. Why don't you just both agree to cancel the sale. I don't think it's worth the hassle and I certainly wouldn't recommen paying paypal as gift to someone who wasn't known to you. Re the 4 weeks delivery - I was sweating recently as I'd been waiting for 5 weeks for a delivery from US. I thought that maybe the customs had intercepted it (seller had indicated that he would not show reduced value on package) Anyway it arrived yesterday & the seller had indeed mailed it 5 weeks ago. In same post I received another 45 from US which was mailed last week. I am beginning to think that total shipment time depends on where in US it was posted as I don't believe the problem is generally at the UK end.
  20. That Impacts - Just Because is just wonderful. I only heard it myself a few weeks ago, and it's when I first hear new "well to me" sounds of that quality I understand why I'm so into this music.
  21. Had already seen George's ad and submitted my offer. Didn't realise Pat had one too - absolutely amazing that 2 are up for sale at same time - thought these were very rare? Has someone found a box lol
  22. That list would make a great complilation cd - Best ns track ever in my opinion is Suspicion & the Marvelttes sugar isn't far behind
  23. Thanks for all replies guys - Ted If I'd been there I would have been on floor too - one of my all time faves. So we think that £1000 is fair price - when I put my next want up that's what I'll offer and hope I get a taker.
  24. Yes it is a great one - is the £1250 what you would expect to get if you sold it? It's just I've heard of a few going in last 6 months or so with prices ranging from approx £900 to £1100
