  1. I don't normally go for instrumentals but you've got some crackers here. Rather than take any out I'd put the two Willie Mitchell's in - it's always handy to have some proven floor fillers. I'd love to look thru your DJ box - how many does it hold?
  2. I would have thought the most important one would be music policy - I do realise that "across the board" can be all things to all men but could there be specifics of the type of music the punters I would hear? eg next to each DJ's name - have 2/3 of their current faves also what about the proportion of their spot that would be different to their previous outing?
  3. Offers
  4. No I don't think it's throwing your toys out - it's just about exercising your choices as a buyer. I agree that ss feedback is finnicky but if a buyer can be bothered to leave feedback and asks seller to reciprocate and they don't then why buy from them again I've even had sellers asking me to leave feedback which I did but none left for me.
  5. There's one on ebay - been there for weeks
  6. That lovelites album is in my all time top 5 but I always assumed it was early 70's - and 70's would be an interesting thread
  7. One NYC shop to avoid is Second Hand Rose near Union Square. When I first started going there, I got loads of bargains but the vinyl is greatly overpriced nowadays. I'd love to go up the stairs in the store though - the owner once told me there were 000's of 45's up there and they had never got round to sorting though them.
  8. Don't know about the best - but my most played 60's album is Linda Jones Hypnotised This album is so good and imo it contains the most soulful line ever recorded
  9. Lol - well done Snakepit - the point I was making was that there are always debates (to put it politely) on here about how we all have different tastes and one mans top 10 is anothers dross - but surely everyone likes Edwin. I hope this is one of the best selling cd's of the year - I know I'll be getting one.
  10. Edwin Starr fans? - would anyone on SS not like this CD?
  11. Doh - thanks Mike! Well that was very ordinary to these ears so I don't feel as if I've missed out on anything.
  12. Never heard of that Opells - does anyone know where I could hear it (sweet soul side) as it doesn't seem to be on Youtube.
  13. Very good he was too, though I am biased. I thought the duet with Jessie J worked very well after my initial shock at seeing her walk on the stage. Smokey's still got it 57 years after his first recording but it's the lyrics that do it foe me - sheer poetry
  14. I can do the Varetta tonight if you don't get it before then.
  15. Brilliant !! yet again guys - so many of my faves in there. Epsilons - Devoted, is my perosnal stand out track but there are load more special tracks. I really must make an effort to get down there. This is the future of soul do's - keep up the good work
  16. Would like to source the following - Founders - Don't leave me baby - Bolivia - sorted Ultimates - Why I love you - Valentine please let me know condition and price inc shipping to uk thanks just looking for the Ultimates now
  17. Am looking for a clean copy of Don't Leave Me Baby. If you have one to sell pls pm with condition & price incl. uk sign for. Thanks T
  18. I know what you mean about FB Mike. I have loads of outstanding from ebay sellers and I rarely get any on SS purchases. I know I'll probs regret this, but I don't buy any more from the buyers who don't leave FB
  19. Think its james carr - stronger than love
  20. I've always read those comments about auction prices with some bemusement and hoped I'd never pass judgement on people who pay over the odds (have done it myself many times) but the price on Jannie Williams has to be a mistake?
  21. From the first bits I've heard this is brilliant- am looking forward to weekend when I can hear full session
  22. One of my all time fave double headers is Alberta Weeks - Mirrow On The Wall & Forget Me Not but the one I'm constantly playing lately is Olivia Alexander - He's Gonna Love Me The Right Way (part 1) c/w Part 2 - there is something about this track that really gets to me.
  23. This is in my all time top 5 and when I started collecting vinyl again 13 years ago it was 2nd one on my wants list (which was mainly made up of stuff I'd heard on those chicano cd's) Funny enough whenever I play it which is quite often - I always play it next to another of my faves - the Nu Luvs - "Baby You Belong To Me" on Clock - don't know why this is but whenever I play the sweet stuff these two always go together.
