  1. I did wonder that, but couldn't find any info anywhere. Thought it might have been booted for some odd reason. Thanks for the info
  2. Hi there I've just picked up a very cheap copy of Ace Spectrum - Don't Send Nobody Else on Atlantic. The label is slightly different to the version shown on Discogs, so I was wondering if anyone could let me know about the version that I have. Is it a boot do you think? It was super cheap so I'm not too fussed if it is! My version is the one on the right. Cheers Jon
  3. Hi there I'm going to be in my old home town of Doncaster on Saturday October 17th and was wondering if there are any Northern nights on that night (perhaps Room At The Top)? I know there's something on in Sheffield, but I'm not driving so it has to be local to Donny for me. Cheers Jon
  4. Hi there I have a copy of The Bobbettes - Mr Lee b/ w The Vibrations - My Girl Sloppy on Atlantic which I must have bought for about 10p a couple of years ago. Now, to these ears it's a pretty terrible pop record, but I'm curious about something with the pressing. It seems to be a Jamaican press as it has a vivid purple label that has what looks like an overprint of FG UNDER LICENCE BY (ILLEGIBLE) SOUNDS 15 BELL ROAD KGN. JA What I'm curious about though is whether or not it was common for Jamaican presses to have a fair bit of text scratched into the runout and who the heck Geovanni Turner Simpson is? This one has (side A) -DSR ASIDE-2226-MR LEE-GE (love heart) VANNI TURNER SIMPSON (side B) - DSR BSIDE-2227-MY GIRL SLOOPY-GEOVANNI Cheers Jon
  5. Ho hum.... I need to source another copy, I reckon
  6. Hi everyone My copy of Rosco Gordon's You Got My Bait appears to be off-centre, and plays somewhere between "OK, but a bit dodgy" and "oh my God, turn that off" depending on which decks it's played on. I was just wondering if this was a common problem with the press (matrix number M602B-P) on Somada, or just bad luck with my copy? Cheers Jon
  7. Hi there I'm looking for a copy of Jacki Ross - Hard Times on SAR please. Cheers Jon
  8. Hi Paul Did you sell the Jacki Ross record? If not then I might be interested. Cheers Jon
  9. Hi there I'm looking for a copy of Jacki Ross - Hard Times on SAR please. A good enough copy to play out is all I ask! Thanks Jon
  10. Hi there I'm currently off-loading a bunch of repros on Discos and I've come across a Carstairs one. On the website it states there are two reissues, one seemingly official and one unofficial. However, both of these state that STERLING is scratched into the run-out groove. My copy has CAR 001A and CAR 1B scratched on the respective sides and not STERLING. Does anyone know what issue / year this is from? I know that it's not an expensive record but I just want to list it correctly! Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks Jon

  14. Fantastic Lou Rawls track on Capitol. When Love Goes Wrong b/w Show Business. VG+/EX, £25 + postage from UK. https://youtu.be/W8hq2nizCPo Thanks, Jon
  15. Hi there I'm just going through a few records that I plan on selling, and I wondered if anyone could tell me if Kim Tolliver was ever booted? I'm 99% sure that I have an original, but I just wanted to check first before I offer it out. Also, I know it's not a "biggie", but how much would this go for these days as VG+ with very slight label damage as can be seen on the photograph? Many thanks, Jon
  16. Hi all Thanks for your comments.... Yep, that's the guy! He's now a comedian operating all over the UK, but often in Central London (Leicester Square)... He has an original promo poster for the record on his wall which he showed to me Nice chap! Jon
  17. So, I'm having a good neighbourly chat the other week to the guy who lives opposite me. We talk about music, me DJing etc, and then I mention that I'm a huge Northern fan, The neigbour chuckles, and asks me if I've ever heard "Goodbye Nothing To Say" .... "Of couse..." I reply.... "Well, I'm Nosmo King"., he says"... Small world! Anyway, he mentioned that they once played at Wigan and he told me that they mimed to the record. I'm just wondering if this was normal behaviour for Wigan acts, or whether it was because The Javells were a tailor-made act with a studio backing band? Just curious! Cheers Jon
  18. Great Roger, thanks. What is the top release on your pic with the light coloured label?
  19. Hi there I'm off-loading a bunch of records and I've come across Joan Moody's "We Must Be Doing Somethin' Right" b/w "The Life Of The Party". I know there's different versions of this, and I was wondering if anyone could shed any light on the release year and value of my copy please. Mine is:- Sylvia Records S-5007 Black label with silver writing and NO white box at the top where the label name is Matrix: S-5007-A and S-5007-B Many thanks Jon
  20. Hi there Now, this could be a TOTAL red-herring, but a quick Google search brought me to a recent obituary of a Rev Moses Smith. OK... same name, fair enough.... BUT he was also a singer in The Heavenly Gospel Clouds. https://obit.funeralnet.com/obitdisplay.html?id=1332409&clientid=woodyhomeforservices&listing=Current Cheers Jon
  21. Hi there I was wondering if anyone out there has any information on a songwriter called Murray Schwimmer, please? He wrote Bury Me Deep for Chance Halladay, and seems to have written a few songs for Era Records. My research into Murray is all part of a much wider project into another very elusive artist! Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you, Jon
  22. Hey Andreas As for record shops you should try Black Cotton Records which is in the shops underneath Camden Stables Market. The owner, Nino, is a good guy who always has some nice stuff in stock. He's not always around so it's best to check with him before just turning up. https://www.ilovemarkets.co.uk/camden/directory/shop/black-cotton Cheers Jon
