  1. See, bunch of tossers...
  2. Wow Rob, your journey sounds allot like mine, Im 47, so I'm quite sure we probably met or kinda knew each other back then? I was from South Birmingham... we all got chased around town by Skin heads and Zulus on a Sat, Bunch of tossers... It's a great thing you can see the generations of soul fans on this thread, Fabulous music and great culture.....:-). Just love it m
  3. Great stories all.... for my part, I was a mod at secondary school, into collecting Kent Lp's and sixties stuff, I never liked revival stuff really..... in the mid eighties morphed into a scooter boy, by the time I left school I was going to the outrigger in brum and old Vic in Wolverhampton, I followed house from early on but by 88 I was taken by the acid scene! Literally.... laughs. by 93 I'd lost interest as that period was so good it could never last, I'd kept my soul 45s and started going back to soul nighters on my Todd, that's when I got the collecting bug big time, I'd sold my house collection, and was hoovering up as many northern 45s as I could afford, bought tapes from Pete Smith about this time, bought allot of Mick Smith, rob pheasant, Gary cape, soul bowl, Tim brown, John Manship and did all the record fairs, and record lists.... moved to Brighton in 93/4 and ... very much enjoyed the 9ts/2000 London scene, met my wife at the 100 club I've not looked back in terms of collecting... always liked northern ever since I was at Senior school... :-) mal
  4. Very interesting thread, sorry I can't add anything to the Roburt"s original question, but I would like to find out what folk know about Tut Sutton and his one release on the label? I can feel the tears / No appreciation/ USA 852 Mal
  5. Couple of these for sale reciently, I know It's always been around, so I thought should I pick it up... on listening to it again, I think Linda / whatnauts is better, and the flip although sounds good on a first listen, I know I'd get bored of it and never spin it... one of those 45s that promises allot but actually isn't all that good... still the collector in me wants it for the label, expensive 45 to make me feel good while flicking through through the box as they say -- :-) mal
  6. don't agree Steve, that was one evil cover version by soft cell, and the testitiment to that is it sold millions and folk love it today as they did back then.... it's an awesome song and soft cells version is brilliant in my opinion, I love Gloria's original of course... there are more covers out there, and no one ever remembers those.... It's a Richard Searling spin for sure, he confirmed finding it at house of sounds in the USA and spun it first...
  7. Hi all, need 3 LP Cases, must be the 100 lp size are sturdy enough to be stacked, those ADDA ones are OK, they do the job. I'm in Aylesbury, Bucks HP22 and would prefer to collect as I have until Thursday, if you have boxes to sell get in touch Cheers Malcolm
  8. That's a great listing of tracks, lucky to own a few of those, but Id like that LP especially with the booklet. M
  9. that's looks right Benji... I'll ask a few folk I know if any issues have ever appeared... in regard to the LP, again never seen one, or heard of it, I'll ask about that as well... on the subject of Aussie, im gonna be over at Pete Smiths this weekend, to buy some boxes from him, but also taking a 400 box of Aussie, gonna do a pod cast or live stream what ever pete wants to do, but a serious amount of Aussie soul vinyl and rarities coming your way I hope... :-)
  10. Good, you have taken out the topic field, which was a real pain to go back and find, then paste in... this way you just leave feedback and if anybody feels the need to give me some positive feedback, go right ahead :-)
  11. I would say though, the stamping or Bullet stickers on Aussie 45's Ive always found to be very random, in that they just produce the end product, a number or run of the issue, and stick the bullet sticker on, or stamp it to make it a demo, it maybe that this track never got beyond a demo run, and this particular 45 just didn't receive a stamp? just a guess...
  12. too much information eh... Laughs good record, just get it :-)
  13. yeah they also did ELLIS and CEPHAS on VONS about the same time...
  14. It was always collectable for "I Need Your Loving" long before "I Got Soul" I think.. remember Soul Supply put it out on one of their Modern Soul CD's in the 9ts, which is how I heard it..
  15. nope... staple collectors record, there are loads of copies of this about, tons of em... been played on and off for donkeys years... good record though isn't it... :-)
  16. it's not hard record at all, but it is brilliant... the play side is " I Need Your Loving" isn't it :-)
  17. I have it, but dont know much Mick, in the back of my mind, something is telling me it came out when Keb Darge was playing it, its not his label of course...
  18. I collect Aussie and Ive never seen an Issue, nice that is....
  19. seen pictures of his father, he was a real dude...
  20. 12. Syreeta - what love has joined together ( uk tamla motown demo ) Brill horse and groom spin vg+ £10 Ohhhh Dave is it a black label with demo written in, or is it Green / white? Mal
  21. stunned, I thought that outburst would, should be kicked into Freebasing... lol I do like the Soul Police Cease and Desist Andy, made me chuckle that... in regard to what is 'Under the Radar' shall we save this thread and come up with some credible ones... how about, The Drivers feat Chuck Freeman - Blackbird in Despair on American Int Records, cheap very nice crossover sound, its not gonna be a dance floor track, but allot on here don't care about that.. any more?
  22. the best version of this song I reckon.....Lulu - leave a little love
  23. The descriptions people write to sell 45's have always been entertaining, from the rambling one pagers to seemingly short statements like one I just read on FB, apparently "Garnet mimms 'prove it to me' is still under the radar" ? Now if you can honestly say that this fabulous classic 6ts 45 is under the Collectors radar, you might also say that rome was in fact built in a day, The capital of Australia is Sydney, urrr no it's it's Canberra actually, Tomatoes are a vegetable, urrr nope they are a fruit, Carrots help you see in the dark, nope they just have allot of vitamin A.... see utter Northern soul BO-LL-OX that is.... and who ever wrote that must have had his fingers, his legs and his eye's crossed while he typed it out... Lets not see anybody trying to pull the same compendious even blasphemous Northern BO-LL-OX on here pls, we love our classics, lets give em their due... Soul 'BO-LL-OX' police in da place !
