London record shops are not what they were, you will find something in the center / soho Oxford street et al, but to my mind it would be better to get a west bound tube to Putney if you can, Soul Brother Records is always a good trip... otherwise there is a good shop in Camden just a short walk from the tube, think it’s called ‘out on the floor’ he has several boxes nothing really Rare but 10/20 quid originals and good selection of boots and lps

I do like a good run out groove as much as the next man Gordon, but the above post does make us all sound like nerds! Lol we know they are fake, but we want to know the ‘why’ of it.... mal

They must be lookalikes, surley... I can’t see anybody knocking out any number of these as originals, even back then you would have to charge a fair bit given their value, and what if you run out of any one title? You’re stuffed.., i cant see them up close but I’d say 99.9% lookalikes, but of course nice lookalikes at that mal

Had this happen a few times over the years, think some of them have been soul 45s as protection, or in one case two more copies of the track I was buying, that was Ernie Andrews on capital that one, on the lp front I’ve had lots of great sleeves used as stiffeners of one bloke in the states, perfect nick but no discs:-(

Mine are near to Johns with small swap at the top. James Phelps voice is sooo good, but I don’t think it comes through on this song... btw, the white label demo of satin on the clip, mines a blue demo, never seen a white one, it that legit, ie not had a bit of photoshoping? Satin John Edwards James Phelps Nate Evans Magnetics .

Just got a copy of Bill Brown & The Soul Injection "Time after Time. having sold ‘shot for the moon’ that Accent 45 for fifty quid before it went big as they say, I now feel vindicated, this was a tenner and 100 times better:-) actually the accent 45 sounded out of tune to me, and a tad shrill!!

I didnt think I should reply in this thread as I dont go to Northern Soul gigs, but I absolutly love the music, I really do, it just makes me happy and my early years spent at soul dos like the outrigger, Old vic and 100 club to an extent I look back on very fondly, but i dont do that any more... But in my easy chair, now realising my years, Im young at nearly 49 Im told, I just hope its as good a laugh and as goood a buzz as discovering this music was for all of you. The Dells 'Make Sure' was known to all young and old by the time I picked up a copy at the Diskery in B'ham, maybe 87/88 ish, Id never heard that track and it floored me so I left that shop having spent a fiver on something very very special, and I knew it... thats the buzz I get contacted all the time on here by young guys in Europe to ask whether Id sell this and that, they trawl through threads on here for tracks they want, and thats like getting the old lists through the post I guess... So couple that with the endless amount of brilliant unreleased tracks that still seem to be coming out, Richard Searlings weekly shows, the Soul Source Web site, the splattering of great dealers out there, Lee Fisher you still put out a brilliant written list and you are a thourghly lovely bloke, even if it is via email, the fabulous weekenders that go on, Bilbao is a big favorite and I've only been to one night, that Alex bloke is a genius, and we still get to see the likes on Margie Joseph live!! you have to say 'Northern Soul" is in very good shape long may it last... Mal :-~)

Like the flip on this this one allot, ‘need of love’ great 45. As far as I know Originals should have MR stamp, and I’ve only ever seen it on styrene, mines a white demo which actually looks like a boot to be honest, I read somewhere that when it was discovered it was concidered a boot, only later that it was authenticated so to speak.
