  3. Was listening to ‘Al Perkins - ‘yes my goodness yes’ and remembered his partner or wife Velma Perkins also cut the side, either an unissued thing or for Lion records I cant remember, both great though... in fact didn’t al cut two versions, Or was Buddha picked up on Atco? And to turn this on the side for a moment how about: GIrl Watcher / Boy Watcher mal
  4. Was thinking about these recently, and that I might have a punt.... also be interested to see what recent buyers got for their money on any of the packs? 6ts or 7ts
  5. Sounds a bit like ‘Jean Wells - Just loving you’ on Calla, another top Grover!

  7. That’s the one, well done that man! Cool track... no idea is it silly money record or as my MP3 says one off...
  8. I’m born on 20th October and it’s the big Cinquenta this year.. so was looking at tracks big in Oct 69, lots of soul but don’t fancy many of em till I noticed billboard top 50 for 69 included Spiral Staircase, take that! Strangley I spent my 39th birthday in Miami, went shopping with liza my wife and she bought everything I got nothing, bar a consolation prize hearing Spiral Staircase in a Starbucks once we stopped to count how many bags Liza had, I’m not bitter....
  9. I’ll post the MP3 up when I get home, if that’s allowed?
  10. Ok well that’s interesting, I don’t have a scanner any longer, but mine is deffo red, not yellow... got to be worth two grand then...lol shop I bought it from had no idea...
  11. Hi all, just come across his in my i-tunes library, no idea who I’ve swapped it with but says unissued acetate which cuts out right at the end so I guess it is/was an exclusive? No song title or piccie either, anybody know this one, know anything about it? Cause it’s brilliant sixties northern track Mal
  12. Tickets booked, with a weekender at Bilbao the wkd before plus live music from swamp dog et al, it’s gonna be a great soulful birthday for me this one...
  13. Has thee got Scots on swingers hilarious
  14. Hi all, anybody know if this has been reissued or bootlegged? i found a 12 inch red label copy of this track the other day, can’t make my mind up about it... discogs, that bastion of pricing rare soul 45s, offers one copy at over a grand.... don’t believe discog pricing as most of it is just made up, but if my red 12 is orig, what’s it worth... mal
  15. I was at Bath races last week with work, bet a few quid, won two races but this young fellow called ‘spiritualist’ came in last... now I know why he didn't really race at all but he did do a great ‘Cha Cha Cha’....
  16. Big favourite, especially on an Aussie demo...
  17. Love ‘too young for me’ took me ages to get a good one, loads of copies are such bad condition... great thread
  18. Can’t remember his name now but he is a famous dealer that guy, bought mail order from him, but if your British after Soul in off the street, forget it....And all around that area it’s much the same I’m afraid...
  19. The only thing with this shop is the owner has two boxes of evenly priced 6/7ts more collectible soul funk 45s, you have to buy 2 or 3 to see any more from behind the counter. id have done it but there simply wasn’t anything for me in those first boxes... so I walked out he had great Lps as well, heard he is sitting on some good stock but it’s only offered if you buy a min...
  20. Is that the Soul City one Geoff? Tenner.... sorry dude
  21. I was working in Manhattan a few years back and tried all the shops, would not bother to be honest, the markets are the only place you will find reasonably priced 45s... pickings are slim though, but you will certainly find lots of 45s on Spring, hundreds of em ! My advise get out to places like Long Island, get on the subway and travel a bit... and deffo go to flea markets, you never know Good luck
  22. Great singer, I’ll play all his hits tonight at home, including “please stop the wedding” and offer a prayer... RIP Lou
