  4. Hi everybody, More Seventies & Crossover Soul for you.. Parallel Lean 'Home is Where the Hatred is' has vocals from Brian Jackson & a short rap form Gill Scott-Heron, came out 2000 really great take on Gil's original song. Jill Scott's 'Family Reunion' is from 2004, Dee Dee Gamble gives us a soaring track, sounds great loud! Rochelle Rabouin & Round Robin Monopoly are both upliftings tracks, Roy Roberts moves us with a driving 45 that came out on 'House of Fox' Records. Neil Reed's 'Not As Beautiful As You' is a great Detroit 45 I first had in the early 9ts, good double sider. The Ultimates sound to me like the same group on Capito records, an enchanting Low Fi sound. Soul Aces ft Charles Derrick is a very rare track which took me decades to get on original 45, Young Ladies is the rarest 45 on 'Stang' by a country mile. Willie Tee is as always is absolute quality, finishing with Jones & Blumberg & my favorite from 'The X Cessors'. See, Not as Beautiful as You! Mal

  6. Hi Folks, it's back to what like best this week, CROSSOVER and Modern Soul! Two hours of brilliant, sublime, soulful music including Towanda & The Total Destruction, Johnnie Taylor, Ann Sexton and Shirley Brown! Richard Tate, Pamela Stanley & Family Circle give us some slick soulful grooves, & Freddie Terrell gets an outing with his lesser played flip 'Why Not Me' from his Capitol 45. Scorpio & His People & Rosie Lopez both have a funky edge, that Rosie Lopez is on Pulsar Records, very interesting label, worth checking. Sweet Pearl & Soulfull Strutters are both big hitters in the soul collecting world, Steven Buford Almaree West is a very nice cheapie. William Howard 'Give a Helping Hand is brilliant one from CAT records, I included Steeplechase as I just got a Spanish release of this brilliant song, Dean Parish on vocals! We finish with a great deep side from George Perkins with 'No Need For A Black Man To Cry'. Wear Your Natural Baby Mal
  7. The Super Hit Sound of a fab selection of 'Cover Versions'. I have been collecting this little stash for a while now, and I reckon there are some really great interpretations of some of the biggest songs in SOUL! Only grey area is 'You Left Me' by Raw Soul With Frankie Beverly, I know Ive heard it some place else, reminds me of the score of Notting Hill, the Rom-Com, but I dont know why, anybody know? Hope you enjoy them Malc

  8. ohh, you might have missed a cracker here Baz, the flip of Barbara Lynn-This is the thanks i get, is 'Ring Telephone Ring' it should be mentioned as its an absolute killer slowie.. Mal
  9. Hi all, I posted this mix yesterday, not soul or anything, just stuff I like, check it out. Heading things-up, Wasis Diop is a Senegalese musician of international renown. Berroguetto are a brilliant Spanish folk group from Galicia in Northern Spain. West Coast Jazz from Roy Ayres, left-field brilliance from Chicago's Phil Upchurch, One of my favorite groups of all time, Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger & The Trinity. Paul Weller's 'Wildwood' was a big favorite in the 9ts, as was the Buena Vista Social Club who to great acclaim in 1996, revived the music of per-revolutionary Cuba. Psychemagik hark from Brighton in West Sussex and we finish with 'Love Theme' from Vangelis's original Blade Runner score from the early eighties. Mal
  10. Happy New Year Folks More good grooves from the Collins household! Some absolute corkers on this one, I've staked it to build from the moody vocals of Julie Driscoll to highs from artists like Nita Rossi & Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, all soulful, all brilliant songs and melodies... Speak to you all in the new year Malc

  11. a very brilliant 7ts 45 :-)
  12. also check your tagging, you don't get many as a std member, but tags like #vinyl only will get your channel on charts they do, and that massages the algorithm and so on...
  13. It's like all platforms Mike, you need to really up your activity on Mixcloud, remember to do your favorites, and comment as much as you can, then I think the algorithm serves your channel / shows to more members, just uploading and leaving, will give you just that; agree with Chalky they do keep play figures low to entice you to subscribe... You must resist! lol Mal
  14. Is the Spinners an Original copy Fred? Mal
  15. Hi folks, just listening to Danny Corbis - The Two of Us, a really fabulous track that was unreleased till Kent put it out. The song was a competition entry run by Dave Hamilton i think, I could look that up. But In the start of the song Danny says this is one of two compositions, did Kent ever put the other one out, or wasnt it very good? I know nothing about Danny Corbis, but what a voice, a really great singer. The below clip dosent have the spoken intro from the tapes, maybe that was just on the Cd.. Mal
  16. here is Ron Murphy's Handwriting on the left...
  17. Hi folks, last show of the year, I do hope you have enjoyed any of the shows I've posted up in the last 12 months. This one is all of my very favorite tracks, might need a Vol 2 to get the rest, but this really is a selection I'm proud of, all varied, any decade, all soulful as hell, and just plain brilliant !!! Have a Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy New Year. Mal

  18. no, thats Mathern mill mate, nr Chepstow, It's a good little fishery where I like to do nights, its safe and you can get a bend in your rod, unlike a few other lakes I'm fishing just now, where a double or 30lb is a hard catch, but thats the challenge, I flick between the two to keep my skills up, there is nothing more demoralising than to blank 4 / 5 times in a row on a hard lake They had a match on when I arrived, and although those boys were catching allot of silvers and tench, none had any carp, which was strange, its a great deep margins water, so with a bit of ground bait and single corn you can entice the bigger ones in of the night, they feel the pressure I think, and soon as everybody packs up, it bite time... fishing talk, we just lost a lot of soul boys!! laughing
  19. Lucky I got a night session in at my local lake Sat night, 7 Carp in total, biggest being this 23.5lb common, not great shots as it was pissing down, but a nice fish for what looks like will be my last trip for a while
  20. Merry Christmas From CKLW.mp3 Merry Christmas from CKLW
  21. I post on my Mix cloud channel most weeks, I've never paid them anything, and I steer clear of anybody who I have to pay to listen. There are so many great shows on there for free, why pay? Also I dont follow or follow back any members with really large follower numbers, I check them out, see what they are into musically and only only follow back if I think what i put up would interest them. I know Wayne Hemingway recently paid for some promotional a few months back, I dont know how much of a lift that gave him, he does great shows, has great taste in music, but back to my point above, if what you do is good, just take the free offering, let the music speak for its self... I love Mixcloud, its great platform... I just bought a Rode Mic, so expect some talking over the shows in the future, in a less is more way of course... Mal
  22. Happy Tuesday everybody. Stayed up late last night working, and could not stop myself creating another Mix, so here goes 'Sixties Showdown', lots of Mid Tempo corkers!! best wishes Malcolm

  24. this is a really cool 45, bought mine after hearing it on a CD swap from Jumpin Joan on here, but alas I sold it which is crap cause I really liked the flip "I've Made Up My Mind", I know 'You Don't Know' is trendy, but the harmony side is an absolute killer, I guess that comes with age right
