  1. ohh, you might have missed a cracker here Baz, the flip of Barbara Lynn-This is the thanks i get, is 'Ring Telephone Ring' it should be mentioned as its an absolute killer slowie.. Mal
  2. Hi all, I posted this mix yesterday, not soul or anything, just stuff I like, check it out. Heading things-up, Wasis Diop is a Senegalese musician of international renown. Berroguetto are a brilliant Spanish folk group from Galicia in Northern Spain. West Coast Jazz from Roy Ayres, left-field brilliance from Chicago's Phil Upchurch, One of my favorite groups of all time, Julie Driscoll & Brian Auger & The Trinity. Paul Weller's 'Wildwood' was a big favorite in the 9ts, as was the Buena Vista Social Club who to great acclaim in 1996, revived the music of per-revolutionary Cuba. Psychemagik hark from Brighton in West Sussex and we finish with 'Love Theme' from Vangelis's original Blade Runner score from the early eighties. Mal
  3. Happy New Year Folks More good grooves from the Collins household! Some absolute corkers on this one, I've staked it to build from the moody vocals of Julie Driscoll to highs from artists like Nita Rossi & Marvin Gaye & Tammi Terrell, all soulful, all brilliant songs and melodies... Speak to you all in the new year Malc

  4. a very brilliant 7ts 45 :-)
  5. also check your tagging, you don't get many as a std member, but tags like #vinyl only will get your channel on charts they do, and that massages the algorithm and so on...
  6. It's like all platforms Mike, you need to really up your activity on Mixcloud, remember to do your favorites, and comment as much as you can, then I think the algorithm serves your channel / shows to more members, just uploading and leaving, will give you just that; agree with Chalky they do keep play figures low to entice you to subscribe... You must resist! lol Mal
  7. Is the Spinners an Original copy Fred? Mal
  8. Hi folks, just listening to Danny Corbis - The Two of Us, a really fabulous track that was unreleased till Kent put it out. The song was a competition entry run by Dave Hamilton i think, I could look that up. But In the start of the song Danny says this is one of two compositions, did Kent ever put the other one out, or wasnt it very good? I know nothing about Danny Corbis, but what a voice, a really great singer. The below clip dosent have the spoken intro from the tapes, maybe that was just on the Cd.. Mal
  9. here is Ron Murphy's Handwriting on the left...
  10. Hi folks, last show of the year, I do hope you have enjoyed any of the shows I've posted up in the last 12 months. This one is all of my very favorite tracks, might need a Vol 2 to get the rest, but this really is a selection I'm proud of, all varied, any decade, all soulful as hell, and just plain brilliant !!! Have a Merry Christmas to you all, and Happy New Year. Mal

  11. no, thats Mathern mill mate, nr Chepstow, It's a good little fishery where I like to do nights, its safe and you can get a bend in your rod, unlike a few other lakes I'm fishing just now, where a double or 30lb is a hard catch, but thats the challenge, I flick between the two to keep my skills up, there is nothing more demoralising than to blank 4 / 5 times in a row on a hard lake They had a match on when I arrived, and although those boys were catching allot of silvers and tench, none had any carp, which was strange, its a great deep margins water, so with a bit of ground bait and single corn you can entice the bigger ones in of the night, they feel the pressure I think, and soon as everybody packs up, it bite time... fishing talk, we just lost a lot of soul boys!! laughing
  12. Lucky I got a night session in at my local lake Sat night, 7 Carp in total, biggest being this 23.5lb common, not great shots as it was pissing down, but a nice fish for what looks like will be my last trip for a while
  13. Merry Christmas From CKLW.mp3 Merry Christmas from CKLW
  14. I post on my Mix cloud channel most weeks, I've never paid them anything, and I steer clear of anybody who I have to pay to listen. There are so many great shows on there for free, why pay? Also I dont follow or follow back any members with really large follower numbers, I check them out, see what they are into musically and only only follow back if I think what i put up would interest them. I know Wayne Hemingway recently paid for some promotional a few months back, I dont know how much of a lift that gave him, he does great shows, has great taste in music, but back to my point above, if what you do is good, just take the free offering, let the music speak for its self... I love Mixcloud, its great platform... I just bought a Rode Mic, so expect some talking over the shows in the future, in a less is more way of course... Mal
  15. Happy Tuesday everybody. Stayed up late last night working, and could not stop myself creating another Mix, so here goes 'Sixties Showdown', lots of Mid Tempo corkers!! best wishes Malcolm

  17. this is a really cool 45, bought mine after hearing it on a CD swap from Jumpin Joan on here, but alas I sold it which is crap cause I really liked the flip "I've Made Up My Mind", I know 'You Don't Know' is trendy, but the harmony side is an absolute killer, I guess that comes with age right
  18. I'm not primarily a Reggae or Funk Collector, but I have small collections of tracks from both genres that I really like. This Mix started as a Reggae one, then I came across Darker Shades Ltd." Trackin' Down Jody", and madness ensued!! Cant remember many shows with a 50/50 split of Sweet Reggae, Ska and all out West Coast Funk, but here's one! hope you enjoy it... Malcolm
  19. O.k they are NOT songs about Christmas, I'm sure you gonna be able to get loads of that stuff from your local radio station. Thought I'd get into the Crimbo spirit, god knows we need it.. Loads of styles here folks, all TOP quality, and in my usual style, it's actually a mistake but I like to make it sound deliberate, you get a double helping of "Johnny Davis - You Got to Crawl to Me" which is my favorite track this week! also check out DJ Duane, doin it in the D.J Booth, calling all Cars! Hope you enjoy them Happy Christmas folks! Mal
  20. final one, one of the first Lps I ever bought when I was really only into sixties Northern, this track got into my DNA early on...
  21. And this, smooth as you like... well cool track as for Collins and Collins, well thats me Y mi esposa!
  22. Loads of mine already listed, here are some more I absolutely adore Infinity - Put Everything in Place Sage - I'm alive Cecil Shaw - This I've Gotta See Keni Lewis - Aint Gonna Make it Easy
  23. I'll sort through the racks, come up with a larger list, I collect anything as long as I like it, so i maybe Northern or two step, these days its all Soul to me..
  24. Isn't rare a definition of scarce and hard to come by? there are hundreds of semi known LP's that on the whole miss the glare of the collectors... are those the titles your after? Soul Inc. ‎– Live! At The Cellar / Emblem George Scott - Find Someone to Love / Maple Lou Ragland is the Conveyor / Mighty Ryders - Help us Spread the Message / Sun Geo Leon Thomas - Blues and soulful truth / Flying Dutchman Odyssey - Moest Dont get hung up on Rare, the soundtrack to "Claudine" by Gladys Knight & the Pips is worth a tenner, but its a brilliant Lp better than thousands of supposedly rare soul Lp's..
