  4. Hi everybody Out and Out Northern this week, Happy Easter. Val Simpson, Barbara McNair, Darlene Love all unreleased, Linda Carr, Oldie thats never talked about now. The Tiaras was an Andy Dyson play, Rita Dacosta classic Ive always LOVED, Vivian Carroll is the full intro which never came out on the 'Mirben' 45, Had to have 'The Ambers' which meant I had to have Charades, Salvadors & Don Gardner. Gene Toones gives us a moody breather, Northern soul fans like Minor Key Vocals if you hadn't noticed! Diana Ross's version of Danny Wagner; Gene Redding, Rudy Love, Roy Roberts, Al Robinson & Rainbow's End, represent a time when the Funkier stuff was coming in, have to admit I shunned it all, but I do like these tracks. How to slow things down? Ronnie North, Johnny Sayles & Wiily McDougal do the job grinding us down to finish with BIG Tony Bruno, what a MASSIVE voice! Finally Tasha Thomas's version of Verdelle Smith entitled 'I Saw The Sky'. I actually made myself deaf recording this! Next Week Track Listing Val Simpson - It's Just Love The Geminis - He Moves Me Linda Carr - In My Life Barbara McNair - Lone Lonely Town (Unissued) Darlene Love - A Long Way to be Happy Tony Talent - I've Gotta Tell Somebody O.C. 5. I guess Ady Croasdell might know more having done that deal with Ted Jarrett or his estate. Be good to know if can add anything, think they have a man out there on the west coast Alec Palao? perhaps he was the guy.. anyhow, it's a fab track, and a favourite group of labels for sure :-)
  6. cheers mate, appreciate it :-) it didn't strike me when I recorded it, but I guess it is a tad "A prick up your ears " lol
  7. Unreleased, well that explains it, cheers for that. That said for such a great track, there is bugger all discussion on the web... do you think Maybe the Tempo Rhythms were a house band of sorts? M
  8. Hi folks, I come across this track on my i-Tunes every so often, I really really like it, but I cannot find anything about the group other than they were mentioned on an Excello release by Mildred Woodard And The Tempo Rhythms - Don't Let Anybody Know, which is a tough R&B 45...both in price and quality... Anyhow, I cant find the CD that I imported Candy from, think it was the 'Ref-o-Ree story' or something; is this this an unreleased track cause its not listed on the web in any form as far as I can see... Love to know more Mal
  9. cheers Steve you lot catch like 200 fish per sitting! where us Carp Anglers catch five... if we are lucky!! Great wkd coming, my local Liswerry Pool is having 40 x 6lb Carp added on Sat, so they will all be photographed and added to the stock, which is very old... the old guys and gals wont know what's hit em when these young guns rock up in formation!
  10. More 'fishy' pics from me, took my son Sam over to Mathern nr Chepstow last week just for a day session, had five carp in the end, all small nothing heavier than 16lb, but good for a day session.
  11. More Bellwood Belters! any mix that starts with the Dontells is good in my book ;-)

  13. Hello everybody, This week I’m back in my Northern collection, which I’m afraid is very depleted due to me selling the majority of what was my 4th collection, still I kept all my favourite's and this ‘TUFF’ selection of sixties and seventies dance floor favourites should put a SMILE back onto your face! You don't need a track listing, just sit back and ask yourself ‘Are you TUFF Enough?” or are you a ' Chicken Roll'... next time... Malc * This ones for the 'Baz of Barrymore Glen' ** Track Listing ** Darrell Banks - Only The Strong Survive Eric Lomax - Seven the Loser B. J. 19. Hi folks, this week Jean Shy opens with an absolute killer track 'What Can I Do I'm So In Love With You' Fantasy records, & another in 'Love Had to Be You' from the Dakar Label. Jean was managed by Carl Davis all her Records are SUBLIME! Raymond Smith's '7 Day Lover' is a version of James Fountain, no idea which came first but it's a nice change of pace. I heard a modern version of The Antwans 'Aint No Love' this week on TWR, this ones muchos mejores! Timothy Wilson on Sky Disc is a sublime 7ts track & yes my copy of has the raised S in the dead wax! This weeks title comes from my latest purchase Kansas City Express & is a wonderful Low Rider type track, melodies sound very much like 'A Love for all Seasons' by The Fuzz, also very rare by Something Easy on Serco Records, in fact that was a Hit! Philip James, Annette Poindexter both highly sort after, however Anita May & the Interstate 5 is quite obscure track on Audio Arts label. Finishing with Ben E. King and Larry Banks unbelievable 'I'm Not the One'. You are the One, this is the Place...! Mal ** Track Listing ** Jean Shy - What Can I Do Im So In Love With You Dottie Pearson - Look Around The Preparations - (I Dont Want) Nobody But You Girl Jeanie Tracy - Making New Friends Raymond Smith - 7 Day Lover Reo Lane - Give Me Your Love Fame - Change Bernard Smith - Never Gonna Let You go Beres Hammond - Do This World a Favour The Antwans - Aint No Love The Rotations - Don't Ever Hurt Me The Devonnes - I Don't Care What He's Done Alice Clark - Don't Wonder Why Bettye Swann - Cold Day (in Hell) The Rance Allen Group - Gonna Make It All right Timothy Wilson - I Must Love You Just Bobby - I'm A Winner Philip James - Keep On Loving (Part 1/Part 2) Kansas City Express - This Is the Place Annette Poindexter - Wayward Dream Jean Shy - Love Had to Be You Anita May & the Interstate 5 - When its Dark Frank Lynch - Mississippi Girl The Endeavors - Shattered Dreams New Young Hearts - The Young Hearts Get Lonely Too Ben E. King - It's All Over Larry Banks - I'm Not the One

  23. Lights go out, Clown Screams, you MOVE! All these were being played in 1989 in some cases well before! It was a time of change where many genres lived under one roof, House, Rave, New Beat, Rap, and so on, EXCITING TIMES! We used to go to the Snapper club nights @ Hummingbird in B'ham allot, you could hear any one of these tracks along side the specials and Haircut 100! The music was that varied & better for it! I'll be doing several one hour shows from 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992 and I may push to 93/4, so look out for those spread within my regular Soul Shows... It's all Good Mal.C This one's for Bobby Bloore!
  24. These two are really good 45s....
  25. This weeks, sorry last weeks show is a bit late, oh well ! However... Norman Connors opens the batting in this weeks show, his song 'Once I've Been There’ has been there so long its second nature for all Soul Fans. Merry Clayton gives use her rousing rendition of ‘Emotion’ also done by Webster Lewis & another singer I can recall. Leon Ware, Ronnie McNair & Chuck Jackson all STONE classics, Darrow Fletcher does his version of ‘No Limits’ also sang by Jean Terrell on A&M. Mark Williams is the lesser known version of 'A House For Sale’ he was from New Zealand & also does a great version of HDH “Why Can’t We be Lovers’ on his EMI Lp ‘Taking it all in Stride’. Paul Walters is a very rare crossover 45 on 521 records out of Brooklyn NY, 521 was a local Nightclub & the label has some interesting releases. The Drivers is a semi know 45 that comes up, great vocals from Chuck Freeman wonder what else he did? Cornell Gunter was on Tim Brown's list last week @ £400, from what I can see it did not sell, but hey it's a great floaty Modern swayer. I included Tim Murray because of the soon to be released version by Melvin Davis via Diggin' Deep, WOW! Bill Brown & the Soul Injection is one of two favourite unreleased at the time tracks from Disco Edits, far superior to that 'Soul Injection' 45 on Accent. The Ascots track is from their Crazy Cajon LP ‘Colour me Soul’ an Essential Lp! Finishing with Vee Allen on Lion Records, class slowie. Next Time Mel.B ** Track Listing** Norman Connors - Once I've Been There Barbara Jean English - I'm Living A Lie Merry Clayton - Emotion Ralph Graham - Ain't no Need Leon Ware - Instant Love Ronnie McNeir - I'm So Thankful Chuck Jackson - I've Got The Need Darrow Fletcher - No Limit Mark Williams - A House For Sale Barbara Brown – So in Love Paul Walters - I know what love is all about Bill Brown & the Soul Injection - Time after Time The Rotations - When he slowly moves away from you The Drivers - Blackbird in Despair Irene Reid - I Must Be Doing Something Right Tim Murray - Thinking of You Cornel Gunter - Love In My Heart Fresh Flavour - Without You Baby, I'm a Loser Delilah Moore - I'll Just Walk Away The Ascots - Lets Serenade our Love Master Plan - Dance All Night Sammy Relford - Hey Love The Futures - Thats the Way of a Woman's Love Vee Allen - Cheating is a No No
