always the business Steve, and any mix with Darrow Fletcher's 'No Limit' has to be the business he signed my copy at the 100 club, he has very very beautiful handwriting Darrow, one of my favourite 45's...

This weeks show is Episode three in my 'House Nation' series. Starting where we left off with the tail end of the Hummingbird in Birmingham, the next club night Martin Redmond started was 'SINDROME' at Shelleys Lazerdrome in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent. The resident DJ's were Martin, BOD (Sean) Steve Warner, and Unknown D.J (Mickey Rose). This episode really covers the techno side of the Music played at the club, but in no way covers everything, I'll be putting together an 'Anthems' mix next week with all your favorites from SINDROME at Shelleys. Hope you enjoy it ;-0) Intro Cybersonik - Technarchy The Suburban Knight - The Art Of Stalking Shade of Rhythm - Exorcist The Martian - Get Up To My Groove (Smooth Mix) David X - E=MC2 (Experience) Liddell Townsell - As Acid Turns (Club Mix) The Final Word - Dance 2 The Music (That Dub) Alexander Robotnick - Problèmes d'amour (Carl Craig Remix) Orange Lemon - Dreams of Santa Anna The Wizard & The Prince - The Wiz Is a Genius N-Joi - Techno Gangsters Meat Beat Manifesto - Radio Babylon

Doesn't Richard Searling have an acetate, or demo of some type of 'Genie' that he plays where you hear the the studio intro, count in etc, then at the end the tape winds all the way back... no idea whether that particular cut was used in the Verve 45, but obviously from the same session. Love 'Genie'

Rememer a certain DJ, of Mecca origins shall we say was down the 100 Club one night, sitting just in by the entrance, next to the cloak room. Anyhow this track was announced and it was mentioned that 'said' DJ had said if he had found it, he'd have put it back, something like that, and then Ben E King was announced and it was said that unlike 'said' DJ we didn't put it back! we think its brilliant! something along those lines... silly as it might seem that small statement was like a calling to the whole club, to hit the dance floor, I remember it as if it was yesterday, it made you proud to be at the 100 club dancing to that record in that moment... Kinda cool
-
real 'Rhythm' in the piano on Rita Dacosta, it's sparse but without it would be half what it is..:-/ brilliant record...
-
as its not been posted! not many can out 'Beat' this one... and my all time favorite "BIG GUN!' when the lead comes in... wow!!
-
I wont comment on the price as Ive made a fool of myself too many times on the John Manship auction thread, but this 45 brings back happy memories for me, met my wife Liza at the 100 club, and Mick Smith played this just before we hooked up... may never own a copy, but hey what the hell... great track

Hi folks, this is the second installment in my 'House Nation' series, this time I've been very lucky to speak to an old friend Martin Redmond who was a DJ at the Hummingbird 'Bird' and later started the 'SINDROME' nights at the Lazerdrome, Shelleys in Longton in Stoke on Trent. This episode is centered around 1989 and very much about the Hummingbird and the Birmingham House scene at that time. Would state that 808 State / Cübik was aug/sept 90... but what the hell.. Hope you enjoy it Malcolm Track Listing Renegade Soundwave - The Phantom Richie Rich - Salsa House Ralphi Rosario feat. Xavier Gold - You Used To Hold Me (Kenny's 12" Mix) Reese - 'Rock To The Beat' Nightmares On Wax - Dextrous Zsa Zsa La Boum - Something Scary The Forgemasters - Track With No Name Acts Of Madmen - The Dream Da Posse - It's My Life (Aluh Mix) The Theme (Original Chill Mix) Sterling Void - Its Alright Little Little - Tickle Me (Acid Tickle Mix) Corporation Of One - The Real Life 808 State - Cübik Doug Lazy - Let it Roll Arthur Miles - Tripping On your Love (Club Remix)

try to develop the foreground, it works because of all the weeds in the front giving the image depth, here is a picture I took in Canada years ago which is working in the same way, I noticed the sludge and tried, as best as I could on a boat, to use the sludge as my foreground... below is an example of what you can do when you turn a nice colour image to B&W.. both of these images are taken on a phone, so it can be done... good luck mate

Listen to me, we will be doing regular CRIT on here soon... Photographic students attend CRIT every week, on Fridays normally, its where you take a look, say what you feel and develop ideas, its cool...
-
wow, that middle picture is fabulous, I'd return here mate and see if you can develop a shot of that, the perspective and the boat are very dynamic, as I like to say, if you could use the same light again, Dusk is it? maybe come out a bit, you really could have a very very nice shot from / of this little bay and those two little islands... there is a brilliant photograph in there, can see it... I used to visit locations many times before I actually worked out how to photograph a place, what lens to use, what perspective, and then you wait for the light and a bit of Magic, and CLICK! maybe your picture could lend it self to B&W approach?

That’s a beautiful sight that lovely brace of 45s id have to check which one I had, but are both releases of ‘Talk about love’ recorded too loud, or is it just the one release Sebastian?

I was fishing over night at our local lake last night (Mathern Mill) only caught three, all of a size though, so the carp are deffo putting on weight ready to spawn. The pick of the catches was this very nice 18.2lb Mirror carp, also a pic of me and all my kids on the bank, they took the nice bivvy for the night, and I got the old and cold one

Them reeds look good, I'd drop a rig to the side of those every time
-
will check those out, I do like Jazz and jazz influenced tracks, there is just more to them, the musicianship is well above the general 4 to the beat plunder... which of course I like as well...
-
I'm glad you say that as I thought I just had a bad copy, it sounded dreadful, much better on my Lp...:-) only ever see one, which I think was owned by someone on here, and it was for sale not that long ago.. the 'What does it take' 45 I know was sold by Pete Smith a few years back for £1000 to a well know Northern soul dj, so that gives you a price point on that one. *just been informed abut the final sale price, so have changed it..
-
I'm sure it has been played once or twice, such a great track can't go unnoticed. the reason I think its never been massive is because it never came out on 45... but that's all changing isn't it, LP tracks are easy plunder for record labels these days...
-
they are out there, I bought the Lp off here some years ago, then when I lived in Spain found another in Northern Spain and the Spanish 45 south of Madrid... had the Chary 'Talk about Love' 45, sold it on here a few moths back, 'What does it take' is the rare one, also as the fiery Spartans or something ... that is really rare. But their other slower Charay 45's are all great and very cheap in comparison, I'd buy those tracks personally, and the Uk Page One releases, 'Sad World' 'All I want is You' 'I love you Baby' all supreme quality, they never made a bad record
-
I shamed myself last week on the JM Auction thread, so I'll say simply this again, they are all mad!! and they are gonna loose a load of dosh on them records!! It's true...
