  1. I think we got a winner... thats the one isnt it... Robb, this is not NOT Sandy Phillips and The Topovers with Don Raleigh's Orchestra, recorded at the end of the 1950s, or in the early 1960s in a Canadian studio for Masterseal/Buckingham Records, but, rather, a 2010 retro-nostalgic recording now uncovered for the first time on soul source... ish...
  2. Just adding label scans to tracks in my iTunes library, and I have drawn a blank on this track also, anybody know?
  3. Saw his mate a week back, this chap was walking around Marylebone High Road with a gold tin pot on his head! Don't know about 'Look both ways', maybe don't look up...
  4. This is good as well
  5. With all the rubish in the news just now, I'd rather share something I actually care about. Dennis Waterman RIP, Brilliant actor, as we all have a love of sixties films and music, here's Dennis in 'Up the Junction' "Evening all"
  6. I'm sure this site has been posted before, but if you want amazing sleeves, John Spencer's website lists his collection, but with a twist, every sleeve has a drawing, sketch or paining by John, if you have not seen this before, his work is stunning and highly original... http://www.johnnyspencer.info/
  7. Hi Folks, does anybody have nice Aussie copies of any of the following at all? must be in EX plus condition and no tears or nasty stuff on the label, if they are ex Radio Station, thats fine, always happy to get orig copies with notes and stamps... The Soul-Jers - Crazy Little Things / WG-2605 Joe Hinton - You Know it Ain't Right / WG-1630 O.V. Wright - Love the Way You Love / CBS BA-221765 GLADYS KNIGHT and the Pips - Every Beat of my Heart / EMBER 8315 Mickey Stevenson - I need You / Im on my way back to you / EMBER 8337 best Malcolm
  8. Massive handbag alert, I love it.. that actually looks like a laugh... line dancing with a room full of women... ! traditionalists' handbagers' god I never knew they existed!
  9. I think authenticity for me might be a band like Snake Davis, I've no idea whether they are still together, but if you want a 'Northern Soul' band, well they have been there with so many of the biggest American singers haven’t they. You might call them a backing band, but I bet you they would say otherwsie... I agree with some of the above comments, the reference Paul to white lead singers, we all know Northern soul has been built on blue eyed soul singers, and black singers alike, if you knew anythig about NSoul its not an issue, and if it is, you need to do a bit of digging about the music you love... Love the Nosmo King clip, he came over as a genuinely nice guy didnt he, we all like a bit a 'Northern Pop' now and again, makes me happy
  10. cheers Chalky, a few folks have advertised Manifestos for sale this week, but that issue hasn't turned up yet. Simon Green from Swindon was also in that feature if I remember right, allot of the S-Wales lot travelled to dos with the Swindon boys back then, very happy memories.
  11. Cheers Robb, Yes I can see now it Mah's Music on the Sport 45. So it's safe to say that Andre williams is likey unreleased Inst, that was kept in the can. I simply came across an MP3 for this, and as I'm as anal as most of you lot, I wanted to fill in the release date, label, etc etc... Did Williams cut for Fortune while doing things at Sport, it seems allot of these Inst tracks pre date the late sixties, maybe the Fortune stuff is allot earlier...
  12. Hi there, Im trying to find the orig label, or confirm if it was an unrelesed, Andre Williams - I'm Gonna Rat on You. I have found a listing for a Sport relese on Soulful Detroit Website, 107 Johnny Soul "I'm Gonna Rat On You"/"I Can't Buy No More" But no or little info on Andre Williams version, anybody know? Mal
  13. Id love to see the photos Steve, ive pipped you a message, if you can get into the lockup, Im your man....
  14. Ive got all those Andy, I could go home rich...
  15. brilliant show, a lot of 'stimulants' this time out from Unnamed friends! laughing
  16. really...? how come they always hit 3 figres, why not just 50 or 75 quid.... well we know why because 'Money' has always been an overiding part of record collecting, which at its silliest see's folks paying hundreds more for a different coloured labels, so there you go, fiull circle...
  17. Thats an excellent track that Bobby Harden, I would add Oliver James - One and Only / Colemine as another... in fact I thnik Oliver James is a better track. the OVO thang was always daft, but then record collecting is daft isnt it... I sold most of my 100 Club Anni 45's some years ago, just kept my favorites, but I have to say I was made up when Paramount four came out on Kent select, I went to that nighter, so why would I pay 100 odd quid when I can get it for a tenner? Kent Select does not seem to get the attention of greedy sellers, except for Darrow Fletcher - Love Is My Secret Weapon, so you are always safe with Kent records. It does seem though if you miss these new releases at $10 bucks you could have to fork out, and if you do, and then it gets a run in grren and purple vinyl, well you have been 'had' havent you... that I dont like, so I dont buy em at inflated prices... good post and a subject that knarks allot of folks off....

  21. Hi folks, anybody got a spare copy of Manifesto that covered the big do at the Q Club in B'ham, when Edwin Star, Steve Mancha, JJ Barnes Played`? would be late 9ts, long time ago now, I cant remember the exact year. They ran a double page spread with a wide shot of JJ on stage... Mal
  22. It's 2022 and Ive just come across this track again on my iTunes library, my question about what it is, is answered above, but Id like to know who owns a copy of the demo out there, is it a one off? mal
  23. Picked up a copy on the Omnibus stand at London Book Fair week b4 last, it's a good read
  24. I think Emma's first single was her best, and because of when it was released, mid covid lockdown, reminds me of that time, I was religiously listing to Eddie Pillars show on a Thursday, I still do, and I have to say his show and that track were a life line to normality... We shouldn’t be too harsh on Emma's music, sure it's poppy, but I can highlight far worse... good luck to her, this track isnt for me, but I hope it sells bucket loads...
  25. Is this taken from the acetate that came up on Ebay some years back? think there may have been a few copies, or discs with either all or some of the tracks on there..
