  1. And finally, thank god! Moving On Up - Radio Jingle, no idea but I love the gospel grove in this one, probably 69/70/71, maybe for a black audience, but having heard the kind of adverts you got on KVON in Chicago, I'd say probably its aimed at a white audience.. 5. Tried to find their jingles, this is a good site for Bay Area radio history, but no KSOL, given they were one of the big stations, thats a bit of a shame... https://bayarearadio.org/jingles KNBR did a really good Tuned and Young 17/18 jingles, like these ones https://bayarearadio.org/audio/knbr/jingles/KNBR - Tuned Young 17 & 18 - 1967.mp3 There is also a bit on PAMS from Texas in there, they were the first agency to syndicate radio Jingles, in the same way Shutterstock and Getty do the same with news and creative content. PAMS called them (station identification jingle packages for radio and TV stations). So if these studios we all love, had the connections, they could get allot of bread and butter work form being a contributor. No where near Texas, but as most of you would have read from various sleeves, Dave Hamilton's studio did loads of this type of work in Detroit.
  6. Thats the one, the cover I had with the blue soul lp was really nice, had a shot of all the jocks, with that 'Soul in the City' logo up top...and the Golden Gate bridge in the background. I think these were quite trendy for a time in collecting circles , long time ago now... awful sound quality but good Lp... wish I hadn't sold it now
  7. I think this Station put out Soul complation Lp’s or Radio Lp's if you want to callthem that, the label was ‘Blue Soul’ if I remember right...
  8. Hi all, anybody got a nice copy of this one? ealy release from 59, so I guess allot of copies will be well worn... cheers Malc

Earl Connelly - Make Up Your Mind / MAYCON EX++£15 Great 7ts philly track, well it's on a Philly label... Art Wilson - I Know We Can Make It / Alexander Street Records / EX++ £10 Late 7ts killer, this is a common 45, but put that aside and listen, its a corker... dunno what else this guy did, but he's got a great soul voice, good backing on this one too... ----- I prefer direct Bank Transfer but you can pay by Paypal either Friends & Family or add the normal 4% fee. 10. Hi folks, I have two 200 Single Record flight cases (two Lane) and Record shelving unit with wheels, as below. Boxes £20 each, if you buy both I'll do em @ £35 the pair. Sheving £10 (Collection Only) The shelving takes I guess 100 Lp's or 12 inches, and there is room for a amp and deck on top, served me well for ages this did, but its clogging up the garage, so gotta go... Collection is prefereable, I'm in South Wales, between Newport and Cardiff, but I will post the record boxes, buyer covers post. Pay Pal or Bank Transfer, you pay any fees, Post * would be signed For within the Uk for the record boxes only, I'd need to cost that though... best malc

  13. More shots from the book
  14. Pulled out a great picture book today, it’s a Photography book, by a guy called steven shore, called 'uncommon places'. Here is a short synopsis... Originally published in 1982, Stephen Shore's legendary "Uncommon Places" has influenced more than a generation of photographers. Shore was among the first artists to take color beyond the domain of advertising and fashion photography, and his large-format color work on the American vernacular landscape inaugurated a vital photographic tradition. "Uncommon Places: The Complete Works ... Anyhow, it struck me that these scenes must have been very familiar to folks on here who visited the US in the 7ts and 8ts... these are great period pictures, of a country, like ours that has for the most part, changed completely... enjoy them :-O)
  15. I sold my second copy on here for £30 a year or so ago, do you think I dropped a bollock there? Good record, but when it came sto sell some stuff, it was gone, again! lol Dunno why they listed 'Come on Let's Do It', its not a patch on the flip 'I'm Here to Give it to You'. Actually 'Come on Let's Do It' sounds really really ropey, I hate that organ in the background... shrirrruuurrrr !
  16. I think 'On Broadway' by the Drifters is the one I remember from fun fairs... Had to post the pic, its such a cool ride... !
  17. Who’s who?

    SIX TO GO

Hi mak, hope you are well mate, I can't quite read those, I can guess but be nice to get the title..
  19. I think it's worth getting the LP, as there are other great tracks on there, not in the 'Crossover' grrove, but it's a really good LP end to end..
  20. Love the Cooperettes info, and an obvious question, is this the same group as released on Brunswick?
  21. If I was pushed, I'd go for Tommy Hunt's version, Big Maybelle in second, Freddie's is ok, if you get the LP, it’s on there, the common one on Abet, rather than shelling out on the 45. Tommy Hunt here, best version by far...
  22. Maybe me, but can't see anything there to really get the blood racing, Johnny Gilliam is brill but that was about in sales boxes a long while back, got mine in 2009/10 I think, of Gene who used to be on here loads, and quite cheap, great but old now... I know they are all oldies! Sandi Sheldon issue is great of course, but Bill Bush, I hate that record, always thought it was a Tony Galla type track, just no where near as good... Maybe it's comedown from the Mello Souls...
  23. and you gotta have this one
