  2. Troy, of all of your father's songs, what’s your favourite track? Is there one you remember specially from your youth? To give us all a sense of yourself and your family back then, if we say 'I'd Think it Over' was recorded / released in 1964, do you remember that track at all, or is it later that you really understood what your father did as a day job, so to speak? Regarding your father's legacy, well it's solid within Soul collecting circles, as you know. I think if you wanted to spread his legacy, a nice way might be to produce a short film, maybe that could be something produced with the view of getting picked up on, either on TV or in Print / Digital. There are lots of Music journalists out there, all looking for great stories, coupled with your fathers Television work, that really is a great story to tell. Malc
  3. Welcome Troy, as Dave mentions, what can you tell us about your father, and his singing. Always good to have a pic of his most coveted 45 :-)

  9. Wow, Gloria Scott Lp made me twitch a bit... There are / have been copies on Discogs / eBay around the 100 Aud mark... Do forgive my 'French' but you would have to be a 'bloody fool' to pay that... (sold @£215) And I disagree with Manship on Australian presses are always superior W&G, yes, Philips, yes, Festival, NOT ALWAYS, some releases are bloody awful fidelity.
  10. I don't think there is one appropiatre emoji Peter!
  11. We used stop there in the late eighties early nineties, en route and retuning from Stoke on Trent, same S**T twenty years later! and my god did we all talk some S**T when we were coming down...
  12. yep should do Ken, Renfe are pretty good on tickets.. here is an old printed one of mine to show...but you can do via the app as well.. PXFCH2.pdf Buena Suerte
  13. I think all the great music that lands on mass 'Northern' soul re issue LP's is very common place now. It's the lesser things that surprises me, I heard 'Rokk - Patience' the other week, and thought how the hell have they got hold of that? and of course it's these SYNC license deals from labels like Numero et al. Always strikes me when you hear something really good in your local shop, you think, bloody heathens, these shoppers have no idea how lucky they are to get 'Rokk - Patience' on a trip to Sainsburys... Should give em all 'Rat Race' get em moving and buying more! lol
  14. I remember a fight at the Old Vic, would have been late 87, bit of punch up, but the bouncers were on it straight away.

  16. Brilliant track, though I think the flip deserves a bit more than 'The flip will appeal to lovers of deep soul harmony' That’s a seriously good slow side, if 'Inside Guys' wasn’t so good 'Friend Heartaches' would be the A.
  17. This is a brilliant record, but I did not realise there are two mixes of this track on Mary Jane label. Maybe the Detroit aficionados out there can fill us in, but I was just listening to the auction JM has at the moment, on the Chequered (Full) label, and the one I have on which has white top / below label. I can see they are actually different release numbers, so why did this get two releases? Malc
  18. this is a good one, Real Thing - Heavy Together * checked, I dont think these are the same guys, same name, different group

  22. is this novelty or a R&B flavored thing? doesnt look soul to me...
  23. Good selection of stripper songs! There was a big market for this stuff wasnt there...
  24. I'm guessing the Jaysina Enterprises Inc was Primarily a Production company, with their own studios 'Jaysina Sound Studios' in Brooklyn. The discs that I have found have different dialing codes, anybody from NY on here, do you know the difference between LT & JU? assume they are seperate local dialing codes. Re Larry Foster, I found a track called 'My Christmas Message To The World' a very forgettable novelty record. Turns out he was a comedian and voice actor, as well as producer with Morty Jay and Sandy Sina. He was in a quartette called 'The Kirby Stone Four' along with another comedian Marty Brill, they did nightclubs and TV work nationally. I did find this track below for Morty Jay, which came out on Kayden, a label we all know well. Good R&B organ track. Also found this Chris Calloway track, 'Bewitched' which must be the programme of the same name, surely? Says self published, so maybe Chris simply recording something she could shop about to promote herself, or were they asked to submit for the show... we may never know. So, Im guessing they did their own productions, had connections in the entertainment business, Radio and TV, and I'm guessing would take on other work that came through the door as all these audio recording businesses would, especially given their location in Mid Town Manhatten and Brooklyn.
