Hi folks, two good ones for sale: Freddie-North - Abet / VG++ wol, £400 Some background noise, but it doesnt take away at all. Rare 45 on Abet this one, never turns up, and a very good price...seems 'Richard' and on the other side 'Edith' owned this 45 at some point! Jan Jones Day-Wood / EX++ £425 Allot better than the last copy that was on here, allot nicer, label and play, very good price on this one I think... Pay Pal or Bank Transfer, you pay any fees, Post *£8 Special delivery (within the Uk) *£4 (signed For within the Uk).

Pulled out a great picture book today, it’s a Photography book, by a guy called steven shore, called 'uncommon places'. Here is a short synopsis... Originally published in 1982, Stephen Shore's legendary "Uncommon Places" has influenced more than a generation of photographers. Shore was among the first artists to take color beyond the domain of advertising and fashion photography, and his large-format color work on the American vernacular landscape inaugurated a vital photographic tradition. "Uncommon Places: The Complete Works ... Anyhow, it struck me that these scenes must have been very familiar to folks on here who visited the US in the 7ts and 8ts... these are great period pictures, of a country, like ours that has for the most part, changed completely... enjoy them :-O)

I sold my second copy on here for £30 a year or so ago, do you think I dropped a bollock there? Good record, but when it came sto sell some stuff, it was gone, again! lol Dunno why they listed 'Come on Let's Do It', its not a patch on the flip 'I'm Here to Give it to You'. Actually 'Come on Let's Do It' sounds really really ropey, I hate that organ in the background... shrirrruuurrrr !

I think 'On Broadway' by the Drifters is the one I remember from fun fairs... Had to post the pic, its such a cool ride... !

Hi mak, hope you are well mate, I can't quite read those, I can guess but be nice to get the title..

I think it's worth getting the LP, as there are other great tracks on there, not in the 'Crossover' grrove, but it's a really good LP end to end..

Fave version: Oh, Lord. What are you doing to me?
Mal C replied to Amsterdam Russ's topic in All About the SOUL
If I was pushed, I'd go for Tommy Hunt's version, Big Maybelle in second, Freddie's is ok, if you get the LP, it’s on there, the common one on Abet, rather than shelling out on the 45. Tommy Hunt here, best version by far... -
Maybe me, but can't see anything there to really get the blood racing, Johnny Gilliam is brill but that was about in sales boxes a long while back, got mine in 2009/10 I think, of Gene who used to be on here loads, and quite cheap, great but old now... I know they are all oldies! Sandi Sheldon issue is great of course, but Bill Bush, I hate that record, always thought it was a Tony Galla type track, just no where near as good... Maybe it's comedown from the Mello Souls...

'Deep Dive', 'Market Deep Dive' 'Trawl the Racks' 'Create Diggin' 'Create Digging' 'Cratedigger' 'Cratedigger database' and maybe mix one or all of those together David Bowie Style, you might get something interesting Mike.

I'm not entirely sure that is the same Don Thomas? I always thought so, but I checked today when I posted above, so firstly, check out his photo, and also its spelt 'Donn’ so with a double n on the Myrrh Lp. Thats not conclusive by any stretch, but I'm not sure thats the same singer below... And no disrespect to Don Thomas of course...

Question The Soul Believers With The Dapps single
Mal C replied to Philip Schaefer's topic in Look At Your Box
I know, my ears are burning!! one of those I quickly put into a genre, and listening to it now, its screaming 'NO, Ive never been near NY!!!' but I stand by that 45, it's a good one... the music quality part of my brain says so...! laughing Think the flip is good as well, 'A Woman, A Lover, A Friend'. -
RIP Don Thomas Don's real name was Charles Thomas an ex-Drifter, but also in line up of the Dealers on Big Bunny. A talented singer, a great loss, Don your music always kept us 'Movin!'

Mal C replied to Philip Schaefer's topic in Look At Your Box
I'll have to listen to this again John, I had 'I'll be Sweeter Tomorrow' down as a NY Group harmony thing.. either way a very very good 45. Philip, if you get 'I'm With You' post it up here so we can all hear it. -
Question The Soul Believers With The Dapps single
Mal C replied to Philip Schaefer's topic in Look At Your Box
You might contact Sir Shamblings, he does give out MP3's of tracks he reviews.. good guy... https://www.sirshambling.com/artists_2012/S/soul_believers/index.php https://ss2.sirshambling.com/index.php/contact-me I wonder he says in the linked review, a JB arrangement with a credit to the Dapps, a white band he used which was headed by the interesting Beau Dollar. I have a few Dapps 45's on King, best being 'I'll be Sweeter Tomorrow', they are deffo black to my ears, the white band he referes to must be the The Soul Believers, right? Malc -
I think this is a great idea, with Discogs putting prices up, Ebay was lost to serious record buying years ago, Face Book, not everybody does Facebook. Be good to have a single place to access 'Stock' 45's... if I was a dealer and I could put the bulk of my 45's up, I'd concider that.

Some strange numbers there, Demures for £890? Really, would a yank one go for that? Eloise Laws @ £300 odd, that’s over a bit by fifty odd, and Arcades is a snip IMO @ £366, always been about but given how much others have made, that’s a good buy in my book. That Priscilla Page will always be the inferior mix in my mind, it’s better on the more common mix by far, My preference aside, £258 is I guess about right for that these days.

I listened to the Andy Rix Interview last week, with Sidney Hall, and Sidney stated that track was cut pre Shrine, produced by Robert Bateman, who thought they were a girl group on introduction, you will have to listen to the interview... Kenny Lewis, Max Kidd, Sidney Hall YES! Shrine NO...
