  1. I can’t remember that many soul do's that were that bad, there have a few eye opening moments for sure, I've certainly had very very scary nighters on the house scene, 88/89/90 it went with the territory, The Hummingbird in Brum quite like Wigan, you didn’t go to the toilets on your own at the 'Bird', because you would have everything stolen from you...it was a very racial in there, allot of the Kings Standing lot (Villa Supporters) for the most part, were racist, they went there to fight, deal and all the rest of it... Mosely Dance center, for those of you who know it, was seriously dodgy, it was next to Ballsall Heath, and in mid 1990 attracted a massive crowd that had come over from the Hummingbird. There were allot of very big dealers there, and they brought there own trouble, most major cities have/had clubs like this... it was a shame cause it was a really great venue, music and Dj's were very good... Anyhow, Soul, been a few exchanges in the 100 Club que over the years, you can't stand about on Oxford street and not meet nutters walking past... Rememeber a fight way down the line, Sean Adams steamed into that, he came running past me, it didn't last long once he turned up......! lol One year at Cleethorpes I was in the modern room, it was the Sunday night so everybody had turned up to hear the classics, always a good night the Sunday night. I'm very worse for wear but I'm strutting my stuff and doing my moves and enjoying the night!! laughing Got chatting to this chap who was dancing next to me, alright mate, and all that....and he says I'm nipping out for a cigarette, comin? so I pip out. I'm out there 2 mins and he comes onto me, along the lines of “he has months to live" something like that.... I'm like, WTF! Mate I'm not gay, but no hard feelings and all that.... Then as soon as I look up his mate, a girl steams in front of us in her car, the passenger door swings open, and they make a quick getaway... I'm standing in the cold, what has just happened? didnt ruin the night, it was a great night, last night always is, but I felt a bit foolish best have another drink then, hit the floor
  2. Sunlovers was £120 for years, thats allot for that. Platters was nice...
  3. This is very very random, but I was listenig to the theme music to 'Tomorrow's People', you know, as you do, and checked out an old episode on YT, then I found this, check out the start @ 0:08, and tell me the BBC were not taking about Jimmy Saville in 1974...~? some chap in the comments below also mentions it...

  8. Having just created a Discogs sales account, I was aksed what kind of seller I am. Not sayig the tax office wont go after sellers like that, but at least Discogs makes the distinction. here is the blurb that Discogs gives. ---- Discogs sellers are required to identify as Business or Hobby sellers*. Hobby You are considered a Hobbyist if you: Are not affiliated with any business entity AND Selling is not your primary business; you only list items occasionally Business Typical indications that you are a Business Seller include: Have a physical store where you sell items or otherwise sell through a business entity Regularly sell many items on Discogs Example: you have 200 or more discrete sales or transactions resulting in the accumulation of $5,000+ Gross revenue within any continuous 12-month period during the previous 24 months. Buy items specifically to re-sell them here *Knowingly misrepresenting your type of business may lead to suspension from the Discogs Marketplace. For those selling to the EU, there may be additional fines and/or legal action taken against you for misrepresenting your trade, business, craft, profession, or falsely representing yourself as a hobbyist or as a consumer. You should check local laws to see if you are considered a Business seller and your obligations. Who does this affect? Current sellers will be asked for additional information to verify their accounts. First, we simply want you to tell us what kind of seller you are. In your Seller Settings, you will make a selection to self-identify as a business or hobby seller. Some sellers will be notified if they need to provide further details based on their location and business size. New sellers on Discogs will undergo an introductory waiting period. If you recently created an account, any inventory you add will be placed in a “Pending” status, which means it will not be available for sale in the Marketplace. Once the waiting period is over, Discogs will ask new users to continue the seller identification process. Since this is a new step, we currently cannot provide an estimate on when this waiting period will be complete.

  12. Darren @ rare soul 45's had two Moniques (108) for sale in the last 6 or so months, both made £1250 / £1200 respectively. >>HERE<< So I guess £250 is a snip at a VG>? It did look pretty nailed, sound was described as acceptable...
  13. Well we all know 'Two of a kind' was released by Wade Flemmons on Ramsel, have you checked if this is the same song? Is there any info on the flip of this acetate, other than group and track names?

  15. I thought I might bump this thread, as we have had allot of new members since. We would love to hear about how you all got into soul music, especially those of you from afar, from the USA, France, Spain, Japan etc... How did you come to this wonderful music, how has it affected your life, and probably your bank balance!
  16. My favorite film this month, it's a long one, but totally draws you in. Brilliant film, called 'God's Crooked Lines' or in Spanish 'Los renglones torcidos de Dios'. If you have Netflix, it's on there as they produced it . https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13229894/
  17. I wasn’t sure about the Jackie Wilson LP, the one John listed was, as far as I know, the second issue, on the Calendar label, not Coral, as mentioned in the blurb. I've got all his Aussie LP releases bar 'Whispers', and they all carry the silver Coral logo, and purple label, see scans. I’ve seen Calendar label releases many times, but as far as I know they are just re-releases of the Coral LP's, unless somebody knows differently? Bobby Kline makes me smile, and cry in equal measure

  20. First time I've heard that Kev, I was told years back that Megaphone was first by somebody, I can't remember who.
  21. 'Stuck on You' came out twice, originally on Megaphone, (below) and later on Domain. Fabulous track, and quite cheap 45 on Domain, given it's quality. The Megaphone release you don't see much, took me years to get a good one, most I found were not good copies. I do like a bit of Yvonne Caroll
  22. Hi folks, Anybody got one of these? I'm after a Orig CBS Sleeve for this 45 by the Diplomats that was released in Israel. Must be ex condition, no tears or pen marks. Drop me a PM, best Malcolm
