Interesting Blue issue, saw another copy on ebay couple days ago, turns out this is an alt take than the green issued one.. Great song, you would have to buy em both!! mal.C.

Just on the bootlegs of MB, obviously done at Monarch on the west coast, with that white ring and all that... most you come across are styrene, mines heavy vinyl, anybody else got one of these? Mal.C.

Hey derek, sorry, yes I owe you some scans to those reviews I sent, did you get the reviews by the way? Check that rhythm machine 45 out, best track I bought in ages.. have been speaking to Marva J allot so have nearly finished that one, sharon clarke still to start, have the taped interview but her memory is very bad, will take some doing that one. yeah big on the Sydney Gay scene I'm told!!

Have loads of stories from the States etc, but some of my best trips came looking for Aussie released soul when I lived over there. My last Paramatta record fair in oct 2005 was a a brilliant strike, drove up to Partamatta from my home on the North shore (sydney) to get there early, just knew I'd get something good but had no idea I'd come away with the following: Sandy Wynns - Touch of Penis / Philips $60 Aud Earl Grant- Hide nor hair / Festival $2 Aud Marvin Smith - Have more time / Coral $8 Aud Jimmy Soul Clarke - If Only I klnew then / Atlantic $10 Aud Spiders - i can take care of myself $20 Aud Bought the Sandy Wynns from one guy who knew that single was collectable, still $60 is very cheap, he had a box of bits on the floor, went through them and pulled out Earl Grant for $2 aud, he had no idea!! Marvin smith was found after going through 20 odd boxes of 45's from a dealer which looked to have a pile of crap, it was at the back in the very last box, I knew the b side by heart and it just flashed in front of me, Result for $8aud, I was going to haggle but 3-4 Ukp for an original Demo in mint condition, you just take em!!! Laughs I did however pick up and put back Shorty long - Don't Mess With My Weekend / Tamla Motown which had no Uk or USA released 45... the guy had a box and all of them were $1 each..DOH!! Other visits to places in NSW such as Tamworth and Casino turned up loads of 45's mostly for no more than a dollar a go.. Tamworth by the way is Australia's Country music capitol, with several recording studio's, believe it or not it was hard to find 45's in the center, but on leaving I found 2-3 second hand shops which had stuff like Gene Chandler on Philips, Otis Redding on Atlantic, some US releases by Garland green / cotillion and Big Maybelle on sceptre for £1.50 Aud, cant be bad.. A note on those Jamaican Sam Dees / Atlantic 45's which flooded the Uk market some years ago, they are from a dealer in Sydney, I met him, and didn't like him at all but he did sell me a copy for $60 aud, about 20 pounds.. You wonder why I hardly buy from the uk anymore, records here are far too expensive..!! Mal.C.

This is still all too common, I've had British Guys in the states charge me 5 UKp for postage of one track and spend $4.55 with nominal packing, not even a decent new mailer...!!! :angry: to that person's credit, they did reimburse me the difference.. Don't buy from them I say, and if they persist name and shame em, simsy its not so much 'He's an idiot' this is very deliberate, its skimming pure and simple! Mal.C.

Wow, this is where it all started for me, we had great nights at the Old Vic, and as I've mentioned before Ted's rare tapes were all big with my lot (Solihull Lot) we would travel up with Tony from the Rigger, or Sinatra's while it was on... the night Ted bought and played Magnetics - lady in green has happy memories.. Remember the buffet! also one night a load of kids wearing black bomber jackets and VW badges came in, think Pep welcomed them in, they looked bemused initially, but once they got dancing they did not stop!! Very Happy memories for me, if I can turn up I Certainly will... Mal.C.

Yeah I agree mate, ten years is a time... but I'm no longer bothered what they are worth, Obviously I want to pay as little as I can, I shop around etc...I buy them what ever the price, its the music I'm interested in, I still stand by the fact that people in the Uk pay well over the odds for soul records, and when people on forums such as this get going they quote over inflated prices, everytime, which indirectly pushes up the price.. i think that can be taken as fact.. The Flip Danger Zone is also great... hope this guy sells as soon as. mal

your a funny lot, admitidly it does not come up for sale much but it turns up... I bought mine for £40 ten years ago, dont see what all the fuss is price wise, but then this is Norven soul innit!!! your best to buy your records in the states, the Uk is very overpriced.. Mal.C.
