Quite a few good ones, Earl Grant - hide nor Hair / aussie Festival $2 aud, Marvin Smith - have more time / aussie Coral $8 Aud, and a whole host of other Aussie releases for under ten aussie dollars!! Majors - Lost in the City Issue, from a market in the Lanes in brighton 50p,Verbil domino on Toi for a pound at the brighton record fair, best one from that record fair Tony Galla on black issue swan £20 quid, the guy knew it was worth money but said he now hated northern, and did I want it for twenty quid? I think you know the answer to that one... In the states I've found some great tracks, $4 Usd for Roosevelt and the Seven C's on Rondo in a thrift store in San francisco, in fact I had tons of 45's from the same place all with original covers, all $4 dollars!! There is a shop near Old street in London I had a yellow London American demo of Mary wells - Dear Lover for £1, Think Pete Smith sold that for 70 odd quid, not a bad days work!! Mal.C.

  11. There is a strange perception about Kev Roberts, in one breath we mock him, allot of us find him very irritating as a DJ and Radio presenter, I know I do. But what Pete has stated is absolutely true. Kev's knowledge of records is simply vast, remember he was out there buying tracks up in the seventies and early eighties; he may not know as some of you mention 'what's going on today' but if you put your toe in first time around likely as not you touched upon thousands upon thousands of unknowns as he did.. A third reprint of his top 500 smells of cashing in to me (I for one wont be buying it as I did the two before, gonna spend my money on the Hey Baby Days coffee table book) but with Kev Roberts you have to remember one golden rule, he's a business man, he's in it to make money simply that...if the thousands of unknowns hes come across don't sell to the majority he wont write, play or ever mention them. Mal.C.
  12. At last my 5 meter cable arrived and I'm now recording tracks, mine should be out within a day or so, so expect a Cd from me before the end of the week, sorry about the slow start! Anybody know my opener from Odetta? Not a soul record as such, but what a track! Odetta - Pastures Of Plenty / Soul Gospel CD Rose Royce - Still In Love / Stronger than Ever Lp / Epic Rev Jamel & Bob Johnson - Did you See Those Men / Funk 45 Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings -100 Days, 100 Nights / Daptone Rhythm Machine - Whatcha Gonna Do / Rodan Marion Black - Who Knows / Cap Soul Barbara West - Oh Little Boy / Ronn Zilla Mayes - All I Want is you / Tou - Sea Pat & Pam - I Love you Yes I do / Our Own Jackson Sisters - Shake Her Loose / Polydor George Wydell - From Out of Nowhere / Tangerine Kitty Love -The Power of Love / Dade Barbara Jean English-Taste Sour Dont it / Unreleased Acetate Brenda & The Tabulations - Thats in The Past / Top & Bottom Jerry Butler - Stop Steppin on my Life / LP Track (Spice of Life) Michael Henderson - In it for the Goodies / Buddah Al Green - Keep on Pushing Love / RCA 12" Skye - Aint no Need / Ananda JNB - I'll Be The One / Glyn The Turbulations - Everything Seems to Change / Guana Aldora Britton - No Cookies in My Bag / Decca Bill Withers-I Can't Write Left Handed (Live)/A Soldier's Sad story/Kent CD The Caravans - Walk Around Heaven All Day / Birth Of Soul Volume 2 Mal.C.
  13. surely there has been some sort of restoration job done by Andy on this 45? Do we know what we are missing, somebody somewhere must had heard this track? Mal
  14. Mark saw one at £70 a month ago, which I should have bought but had George Wydell - From out of nowhere instead... so they are out there at the proper price... Good luck! m
  15. yeah they hear it and waltz off lookin for a copy it that Good!!! M
  16. I agree with some of your points, but I still get allot of mid priced tracks for a fraction of the prices I see listed on this forum, My point is that folk are letting their imagination run away with them when it comes to pricing easy to get, common 45's that really have a very basic value... If your fool enough to pay well over the odds for a 45 you could have got by simply holding fast and bothering to search out, well thats your decision, as for your comment about those who don't have much money, read it back my friend, and think about what you have just said.. Mal
  17. Astounded, what has collecting come to? I keep on saying it, but You people pay so much for your records you really do, yes I pay out for certain tracks but the prices I see asked are just silly, beyond silly in fact, and that extends to the major dealers some of which are on here, no disrespect guys but I'm really surprised you still have any customers at those prices... Sorry Rupert no disrespect to yourself sir, but you see how strongly I feel about this, with that quote I think your having a laugh mate.. Famous last words spoken on the Bridge on the River Kawi, "Madness, Sheers Madness!!! Mal:)
  18. Wow, so a further Ray track in the Blue Cats release, thanks for the listing. I assume 13 through 17 are missing, I mean they did not jump release numbers as they do occasionally on these smaller labels? The "She Doesn't Love Me " has to be the same side? Kinda reminds me of Dereks' Jessie James / Dick & The Deamonds - Falling Stars track on Lawn, I've searched High and Low for both releases but still looking! Now I probably got add the Ray & The Blue Cats... what you guys doing to me??? Mal
  19. I for one would like to hear allot more Funk Records on the Northern scene, you never know it could liberate some of those buggars who cant put one foot in from of another, they could just Pogo on the spot! How about Della Reese-It was a Very Good Year right at the height of a night!!! awesome! Mal.C.
  20. Fab side which I've been after for ages, anybody got one for £15? Soul Supply featured this on one of their early comps?
  21. Cry by Teddy Greene is a really great lesser known release on Capitol, also Rubin Wright - Hey Girl for a cheap and very good dancer! Mal:)
  22. One good thing about those Monach done Boots is that a small number of them came out on vinyl... so to have it you'd want the orig and the vinyl boot right? Mal:)

  24. Great Label, some cracking Texas soul sides, But can anybody confirm that 'Ray' who appears in the following releases is the same guy? Vocally their voices do differ from side to side but the amount of 'Rays' here is just too Much, I need to know!! Laughs Ray & The Bel-aires - The Blame is on you Ray & The Blue Satins - She doesn't love me Ray Camacho & The Teardrops - She's so Good to me Mal.C.
