Goldmine (soul Supply) Ltd
I would think most of us cant really comment on whether they pay or don't pay Royalties, you will never know for sure; you can only hope they did as a buyer... I for one think its a very sad day, they did double up on allot of tracks and as Pete mentioned allot of the earlier sleeve notes were crap, I spent years looking for some records on the wrong labels, and who ever printed Blue lettering on a red background did indeed need shooting...!! But that aside, Soulful Kinda Music, For Collectors only, Under the street Lamp, The 2 Volumes on the Northern Soul of LA, were outstanding, those comps are where allot of people my age heard these records for the first time... Kent's 'Soul Class of 66' was an essential mother of a Northern comp, but you had to have 'Soulful Kinda Music' and 'For Collectors only' for the sheer obscurity factor!! its a shame... Mal.C

Don Thomas Hits The Big Time
Does anybody watch Cbeebies, obviously if only you have kids, anyhow they use a re working of Burts apple crumble - The quick, every day on the bedtime hour, see if you can pick that one up. Dont know if anybody on here works for Trinity Mirror? well if you do check out the IT hold music, this morning was Tony Clark's Landslide, and last Friday when I called it was the Spellbinders!!! I never knew working for a national Newspaper would give me Northern Soul on Hold !! Mal.C.

you will probably have to pay allot, its up there as the most collectable release, or there about.. There is a, err a reissue? or maybe Bootleg on ebay which turns up, and I think the Ace group might have re released it on one of their more Funk / Jazz labels.. Good Luck Mal

Ray Pollard The Drifter Info
God Knows Mick.. I'd say a guitar.. but what do I know... I do think you should seek out the 100 club footage of him singing it for sheer feeling, especially when he hits that note mid way..and the club goes crazy... you can see the confidence it gives him knowing they all know it, and they all Love it..!! God dam I wish I was there.. Mal:-)

The Ultimate Anoraks Question? Brown Sleeves Vs. White Sleeves
This is a good one, especially in Australia... I've been trying to figure out what releases went with which sleeve for ages, and I have it from two of the top Aussie collectors (Frank D, George) that they came out in which ever sleeve was available.. For example, Festival released loads of labels such as Atlantic, the label had two different designs, pure Green (Silver Lettering) releases, and Green and white striped releases, they all seem to have the same sleeve, with Atlantic is Soul toward the bottom..in Green and white.. maybe it was just cheaper.. Also I've been after Aussie Sue Sleeves for ages, only 6-7 tracks were ever released on Aussie Sue, but I have never seen a sleeve to go with, everybody I spoke to said they are simply white..so they just took advantage of white sleeves that were available, although they would have been distributed by Festival.. You can tell the orig white sleeves over there by the top of the sleeve, usually it will have jagged edge..you also get allot of Plastic printed sleeves, which look great when Mint, but crap if ripped or messed about.. which is normally the case.. They also had generic sleeves with a host of the labels represented / printed on the sleeve, Festival mainly did this... Anorak enough for ya!! Laughs Mal.C.

Della Reese
Hi Alan..... Liza my wife got chatting to a girl in some shop the other week, anyhow it transpires her name was Della, and she says it was cause her father was mad on the singer, she said 'you wont know her, she's very obscure' and of course we did.. is it 'The Solitary Woman' ? was it the same on UK I wonder? M

Della Reese
Ok, so the studio cut made a UK release on HMV... you live and learn.. personally I love both her released versions on this song, so I had to have em both!!! M
