  10. RENALDO DOMINO just say the word Label: BLUE ROCK 42195 one-sided acetate w/ typed label Won this on Ebay last week, great track which did come out on Blue rock and smash, I think... anyhow the seller could not tell me anything about it, other than he got it from a prominent Chicago DJ, anybody seen Blue rock Acetates before, know anything about this item? was it an in house thing or publishers acetate etc.. all or any helpful info really appreciated.. Mal.C.
  11. Right, you just gotta read all the posts haven't you.. ?? sorry all, it seems Yann already mentioned the link, but you gotta paint a picture !! laughs M
  12. Not unusual Gene, but there are quite a few Funk collectables on Mo groove Label, so they deffo had a record deal, it wasn't just a freebie press to give out.. M
  13. Ahh, ok, both produced by a guy called Sunny Threatt, and he has writing credits on Something's bad... That said, some times the info on their comps was simply incorrect, I was looking for Soul Bros inc on Emblem on the Boo label for years before I realized it was simply a miss type...but hey tim Brown knows more that I will ever know about soul 45's.. Maybe they are just stating there is a link in production, and writing credits... who knows.. M
  14. I may have this wrong, but remember reading on the sleeve note to Soulful Kinda music, the eighties soul supply comp, that Phyliss Brown was one half of Sonny & Phyliss, also of Nomad's - Something Bad Fame???? So I assume 'Top Man', aka either Tim Brown or Kev Roberts who wrote the sleeve notes, is saying the pair were part of the Nomads.. Can anybody confirm this? Mal.C.

  16. The Brenda Lee eager actually came out twice on mercury (Vertigo) the first issue is on Silver only, the second has the skyscraper picture, I bought my silver copy for £20 and recently the second issue at the 100 club anni for £15, as my silver one had some hiss, something which is a pain with Mercury disc I'm sure you all agree...Great track though isn't it, paid £300 on the Essex 1V from shifty last year, in mint cond... Hope that helps. mal:thumbsup:
  17. I've got a copy of John Tee - Crazy on original which I bought from somebody on here, anyhow its all mint except it's warped to hell, like a ski jump going up and down, that said, if you don't look at it you don't notice what so ever when played on my technic, and it looks mighty fine in its sleeve... A bargin at the price I paid, and a very rare 45 to boot... Mal.C.
  18. couple months ago I sold my copy for £400, then bought it back at £200 from the same guy, he got a White one, demo that is, and now chuck is back sitting next to Ray Hines in the racks...and I'm a very happy man for it.. !! Laughs Mal.C.
  19. Y Took me an age to get this 45, sits well with Joe Walker on bold me thinks... Forget all the stuff these guys are going on about, Buy this 45! its a stunner... Mal.C.
  20. below Kev, Best to mention that the flip is different on the first release, you get the excellent You don't want my love' instead of 'Shake'.. Mal.C. ** Leroy Jones - Some Day / HIT Records M- £25 You pay post ** Still for sale, you get all manner of 45's for sale on here, this is a really nice sixties Northern sound, which may have been played at Stafford??

  25. This is great, I'd totally forgotten about the Oasis market, as I no longer live in the city. By 1984 myself and my friends were buying drain Pipes there, and Moks, remember them? Poor mans PODs really but I simply did not have the money to splash out on Pods.. we were a strange breed really, french Lines, Drain Pipes and Moks. only for School of course.. Allot of you guys go back to the seventies; I think by the eighties the basement record store was still there, but GW's stall had long since gone. There was however a MOD shop at the top of the stairs if you entered from the outside market entrance; you bought your American parka's from the basement... Mal.C
