Good morning Just the one for sale today. Joe Johnson - Can I Change my Mind / SYLA EX++ £75 Joe Johnson was from Louisiana, and as far as I can find on the net, this was his last 45 release in about 1979/80. Cover of Tyrone Davis of course, backed by the Olympia Serenaders Plus Friends. This is a very nice copy, both label and play. ----- I prefer direct Bank Transfer, but you can pay by PayPal either Friends & Family or add the normal 4% fee. Postage: £4.50 for 1st Class signed for (Within the UK) anything over a £50 via Special Delivery, £8.00 (Insured up to £750) within the UK. * If you are outside the UK, just tell me where and I'll quote you via PM. best Malc

This is a really good one, on Brunswick too.... cool record. Does anybody know any books or reference on the Brunswick productions that were bought into the company after all their home-grown successes, which were colossal of course. In the later period of the label, they bought more productions in, which kind of lost their sound, I’d love to find out more about that part of the labels history. I have Robert Pruters book of course.

More than plenty... and allot from artists that have many collectables to their name, I mean in plays out, not always rarity. For example, You can get Margie Joseph "Punish Me" on Volt for a tenner... which is an utterly brilliant record, that's got to be a steal given how much you pay for "I'll Always Love you", or "Nobody" and the rest of her Atlantic sides, and thats an easy one. How about Moody Scott - We've Gotta Save it on SS7, cheap as chips, but the totally right groove... two stunning tracks for what 20/25 quid all in... Ignored sixties sides, The Jammers - Doin' The Look on Jubilee, thats under a tenner, but musically right up there, how about the The Ideals - I Got Lucky, seriously good chicago soul, for what £10/15 at most... These are all 'known' as well, if The festivals - You got the Makings on Smash... can fetch so much, having been a five pound record, these have to be a steal right? I could go on...
-
Nope, but I found one, looking forward to that
-
Owwwhhhh, thats tight! How bout Frootful - Fish In The Sea (Feat Angeline Morrison) all the 'Fishers', Shelly Fisher, Jesse Fisher, Andy Fisher, Mary Ann Fisher, Eddie Fisher, of Yodi fame... Mz. Fishe - You Lift Me Up, good modern thing that was on a Solar CD from yonks back. Frankie Knuckles - Too Many Fish, brill track that is... David Sea - I Wish It Would Rain, Charmells - Sea Shell, The Franciscans - Walk to the Bottom of the Sea Labels, Green-Sea, Whale records...
-
Sonny Fishback - Heart Breaking Man, Mighty Hannibal - Fishing Pole, Maurice Jackson - Lucky Fellow (Lakeside) Blue Sharks - These Things Will Keep Me Loving You and the best one, Universal Mind - Something Fishy Going On!
-
Wow, I know we scorn doing this, but I got one for £80 in 1996/7, in fact the copy I bought off Paul Sutton had come via Butch, and I was told by Paul it had originated from John Bowie's brother. £1500 in 2023 for an issue, thats beyond madness... Btw, the flip "At the End of The Day" is really really good midtempo track...
-
I love how Al spontaneously breaks into song...! when was this interview done Graham?
-
It's really good to drive fast down the motorway!

Don't know, but Roger Crump was a News UK photographer, used to shoot for the Sun and Times. You might direct an enquiry to News Uk Licensing and Syndication, they have a small department there that deals with archive, they might if you ask nicely pull the negs / contacts, not certain, but Crump may have recorded the names on location, they sometimes did that. https://www.profilebynews.com/index Good luck

Never heard this one B4, at least I don’t think I have… I would not buy it on 45, but I like it, good record…. Gary Lewis deffo in the bin… ! Most if not all these tracks were played long before I started, so the stuff I didn’t like from the slow to mid tempo period, 8ts/9ts includes stuff like Joe Vina, you walked, Roscoe & Barbara / old town, good beat but leap out of the window out of tune! Caroline Weaver was a £2 record out of a crap box, and when I sold it mid nineties it was still as un whelming as it always was, don’t understand why folks would pay a ton plus for it… there was some right drible offered in this period, which made some of these not so soulful Wigan 7ts sounds, sound energetic in comparison!! good thread, keep em comin!

I'm sorry but Jerry Naylor - City Lights is brilliant, sure it is, 'of its time', but I have to say, it makes me happy If we are in that kinda tertritory, I'll go to re activate Jerry Fuller - Double Life!! and how about Linda Carr - In My Life...
