  1. Been a little while since we had a record scan fest, I've meant to do Bobby Bland one for ages, so here goes from around the globe. The Aussie W&G is the best made release you will get from down under, Festival made discs are shocking quality, this is as thick as a One Dearful 45, PROPER chunk of vinyl, and sounds great! Canadian ones look Great also, Its only recently I've been picking up the red ones though, anybody seen demo's on these, or are the red's Demo's? Mal.C.
  2. Thats a brilliant record (Rena Scott) agree though this particular Berres track is GOD Awful... why, and I don't know why, it reminds me of all that leon Haywood stuff on Eve Jim, thats Bloody awful an'all.... Mal.V
  3. guys, your all short My CD, apologies its been one hell of a mad 2/3 months with work, I simply have not had time to my self... I basically syndicate news int, the News of the World, Sun Footage and images every week, did the Fergie Sting last week to the world Media, its consumed my life, as their Exclusives do every week and I'm on shift this Sunday with another from the screws I'm sure!! I'm hoping to get this done at the first available bit of time I have to my self.. now would be good but bed beckons... It will be with you all soon, I promise. Mal.C.
  4. Dont ya just Love Pink Decca demo's .. some times I dont care whats on em.. they just look good.. laughs mal
  5. Probably either the snake, nine times out of ten or Landslide at Knowle youth club, To be honest I cant remember which.... First proper dance at a proper soul club, different matter! the Old Vic in Wolverhampton, The precisions - If this is Love, before then i had not tried to do the proper footwork, but I distinctly remember coming away thinking I'd done a good job of it... laughs Got the record on the nite also, £4 from Richard Domar!! bargain.... Mal.C.
  6. I cant believe nobody has yet mentioned Richard Domar..... he sells on line these days, well just tuesdays actually but if you catch him on a good day he's a lovely guy, willing to please, otherwise he's can we say challenging......Laughs.. Mal.C
  7. Patience Valentine - Our Love (A special Blending) Maybe a tad slow to start but really climbs to a high... someone will play it one of these days, and you will all want one!! Mal.C.
  8. Funniest thing I heard all week... old Crut... Laughs There is a Guy in Sydney who owns a shop there, he has all those Jamaican Sam Dees 45's that flooded the market some years back.. I wont mention his name.. I went to his shop and the guy there says the owners coming in shortly and will price a few things up for me that I pulled out, I'm Saturday record shopping so I cant return without anything so I wait. An hour later the guy walks through the door, full knowledge I've been waiting cause he's made calls to the shop and his assistants says there an English guy in here with a pile of 45's he want to buy... anyway he proceeded to ignore me for another 20 mins while fanny arsing about behind the counter, then he asks me if he can help me and I say, biting my tongue, I'd like these, then he proceeds to take half the 45s away saying he wont sell those ones, leaving a couple for me, so I say I don't want that or that and we end up with 3, one of which is the Jamaican Sam Dees 45, which he had boxes of unopened /still sleeved originals under the counter, and he wants $66 Aussie dollars for it.. not giving up the battle of wills, cause I cant walk away now, I asked him whether it was a bootleg? knowing it wasn't, but it got him straight away huffing and Puffing, and explaining at great length what's what with Jamaican 45s, so I took my time and offered him $50, he says $60 and I slowly agree saying I don't normally buy bootlegs but its a tune I've been after and it will do till I get an original.. and I walk out the shop, kinda smiling to my self, but promising my self thats the first and last time in that shop... as I walked down the road I pipped into a cafe, and while I'm having my Latte he walks in with his assistant and comes straight over and asks why I accused him of selling bootlegs, Must have pissed him off with that.. Laughs ...and I simply said cause your a RUDE C**T, and F**K off away from my table... I've never played that 45 to this day, but I wont ever sell it!! Mal.C.
  9. Blimey is this worth that much these days? paid twenty quid..and i swear I've seen it around that since.. Mal.C.
  10. Ok I'm gonna Bite the BULLET, and go to May all nighter, it saves a 3 hour trip to work the next day through all the Replacement busses etc..I can leave at the end of the night to turn up, so spend a night with Liza before hand, only thing is I have to be well turned out and with it, to do a Shift syndicating the Screws and Sun Newspapers next day Wish me luck!! one thing I'm looking forward to Adey is knowing what the big tunes being spun are, you have already covered this no doubt but the last time I came up it was brilliant, it was made even better when I heard Butch spin that version of John Bowie that he has.. really think promoting the exclusive sounds that you have is key for allot of people, we all know that stuff gets spun, i just want to know before I come what I might be in for..?? Think Nick and Andy Rix did this to great effect with their web site and nights in Leicester Sq..in the 9ts.. mal.C
  11. always remember it being scanned on his advert on the back of Beatin rhythm.. wasn't a bad mag that one.. Did you get my cheque Pete? Georgia Banks.. Mal.C

  15. You should also pick up ' Let's Prove Them Wrong ' again cheap and very very good.. and after that you will need no doubt need the Bobby Moore version on Kay-O, its all Good my Friend!! Mal.C.
  16. Quite saddened about this, I regularly feel I'm not doing enough by not attending the one club I've always been very very proud to have been lucky enough to experience, and I mean that sincerily. To be honest I go once a year now, maybe twice, and attend the Cleethorpes weekender.. with a young family and being under the lash of News International, I just cant afford to miss 2 days the other side of Sunday, and thats without the appetite suppressants!! That said, the home of SOUL must continue, and when I can make an effort to get my arse down there.. God knows I spend enough on records, ~I might as well save on them and spread a little love at the BAR!! Liza and I met and were married within six months having been regulars at the 100 Club, 11 years ago this year, so I can 100 % confirm, Soul is good for your Health!! ....and who ever mentioned Clarkie and Shifty, I'd love to hear those guys spin out... BCNUThere! Mal.C.
  17. Hola Argentina!! Anybody else got scans from South America?

  21. Diane Lewis - You Aint got a Chance (Cover Up), I was told recently by a dealer in the know that this was the Ad-Libs? I know people get shirty with cover ups and all that but surely this has been identified by now..... also mickey and jody from Brum had a dub in the mid 9ts which I know they sold to Pete Smith, anybody know where that it these days? Mal.C.

  23. Love the Edwin Starr on Polydor, I expect thats worth allot is it?? Polydor down under only released 2 or so tracks worth hunting down, Bobby Paris, Tony Middleton and the Flirtations. M
  24. I know matey. my reply was made in the same way..Hey, ANY excuse to post the weird and wonderful...!! as I've said I don't have that much British at .. but I have picked some nice 7ts things up recently which look the biz..and as all have mentioned the quality of the vinyl and recording is second to none in almost all cases.. Aussie, specifically Festival records recordings are on the whole pretty bad, W&G in Melbourne did however do a great job but did not release any where near enough soul recordings... M
